Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
This was the first time that she was to leave her kittens with a sitter, which made the young queen's skin crawl slightly. If she wasn't around to make sure that they were okay, how would she know they were safe? If she was out of eyesight of them, how would she be able to make sure they had their needs met? The other cats promised her that it would be alright; her kittens were getting old enough to take care of themselves, they reminded her gently. Of course, they were right, and Ospreyglass needn't worry, especially since Howlingheart was the one in charge of the nursery for the day.
"Are you absolutely sure you don't need me to stay?" she asked, anxiety laden in her voice.
The tom's tail touched her shoulder gently, a reassuring move. "Of course, Ospreyglass," he promised. "Enjoy your time with your kitten, mm? Don't fret about the others; I won't let a single hair on their heads be out of place." There was a warmth in the tom's voice, and Ospreyglass found herself slightly at ease with his promises. That was a good thing, too, as just as he finished speaking, another, smaller cat approached.
"Nocturnekit!" she purred, reaching to lick her child's head in the way only a doting mother could. She glanced at Howlingheart one last time, and when he nodded, she smiled. "Are you ready for today?"
"Um... I think so.." the black kit hummed in thought, looking around, his tiny paws working the ground beneath him, his claws weren't thick enough yet to actually pierce it though. His hesitance however, was not due to unenthusiasm. Actually his only hang up about going out today, it that he knew it had rained recently and that meant there would likely be mud somewhere today. Maybe it would be fine and they wouldn't happen across any this time. Nocturnekit gave his mother a sheepish smile, trying to reassure her that he wasn't having second thoughts anout their outing. Internally he was actually thrilled for the quality time.
She smiled down at him, trying to ensure her own nerves didn't show up in her eyes. She was genuinely thrilled to spend time with her child without the others, not because she didn't enjoy spending time with all of her kits, but because she was excited to have some one on one time. The kittens were finally old enough that she could conciously take them out, even if technically she was certain that Howlingheart would have been a little less willing to watch her others if he knew that they were going to the garden (he was rather protective of the garden, and probably would not have been too thrilled to know).
"You two have fun, now, okay?" the tom meowed, before offering one last nod and padding into the nursery to watch the others.
Once he was gone, she looked back to her son. "I've never been so ready in my life," she meowed with a soft laugh. "We are going out to the garden today. The flowers this time are beautiful, and I think that's where Eveninglily keeps her petting zoo!"
