Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Larkwing crept close to his prey. The scent of a hare hit his nose and made his mouth water. Prey was scarce this time of year and any kind of prey would be helpful. Hares didn't usually come into the forest. They are usually found in the mountains but he assumed with the weather that these over grown rabbits decided to migrate for a reason he did not know. Either way, to find a hare in the forest was pure luck. Usually, another cat would assist the hunter in the hunt but unfortunately, he was out on a hunt alone and he happened to find the perfect prey. He just hoped he would be fast enough. If he missed this one and only chance to bring a good meal to the clan, he would not live it down.
Gently, he put each paw in front of the other as he crept up on the hare. Suddenly, his prey shot up and sniffed the air. It scanned its surroundings until it spotted Larkwing. Cursing, Larkwing chased after the hare. He underestimated the speed of his prey but he was determined to catch it. Nothing mattered but that rabbit. Not watching where he was going, he found himself crossing the frozen pond. He slipped on the ice and it cracked underneath him as he fell. The ice had not broken and he breathed a small sigh of relief. However, he was not completely safe and 'out of the woods' metaphorically speaking. He slowly stood up, trying not to crack through the ice. His heart began to race as he gently placed one paw in front of the other. After the third step, the ice broke and he plummeted into the freezing water. It felt like needles were piercing his skin once he hit the water and his breath was taken by the cold.
He frantically tried to pull himself out of the water using what was left of the ice but each time it kept breaking. He became exhausted and eventually stopped fighting. He let out a weak cry for help before he had stopped paddling and went under. He didn't feel cold anymore. Everything was numb as he sank down. He wasn't under very far before he felt teeth grab his scruff but he was too weak to help the cat pull him up.

With strength she did not know she had, Cannalily pulled and pulled upon Larkwing's scruff until she managed to pull him out of the water and on to the solid ice. After getting him on to the ice, she began to pull him off the pond towards land. Her mind was racing, panicked thoughts filling the anxious she-cat's head.
This was a bad situation, and it would only get worse if she couldn't get both Larkwing and herself off the ice before it broke further, so she kept pulling until she hit land, and then a little further. She then let go, panted, and asked, "Larkwing, are you okay?!"
Larkwing mumbled something unknown and suddenly began coughing up water. Once he could breathe again, he panted and laid there shivering in the snow. "Canalilly?" He blinked his sky blue eyes, trying to focus on the cat who had saved his life but his vision was blurred so he relied on scent. He wasnt sure if his vision was blurred because of the icy water or the fact that his body temperature was dangerously low.
"I...think so..." He chattered, climbing to his paws weakly. He was able to walk but after every few steps he would stumble. Everything was numb and he couldn't feel anything.

Cannalily quickly flanked him and pressed her side into Larkwing's. She was warm, despite the weather. She figured this was the best way to keep him from stumbling AND try to warm him up at the same time.
"We'll take it slow, okay?" She told Larkwing. "We'll get back to camp and get you to Mercury right quick!" She tried to force cheeriness in the dark situation, if only to keep her own brain from falling into despair at the matter.
He nodded, uncontrollably shivering. Although, it helped having her body heat warming him. He was highly appreciative of his clanmate.
The sun was beginning to rise as he laid in the medicine cat den. His nest was lined with feathers and he had never felt more comfortable. He was told to stay in the medicine den until he was better. He was still a little wet from his 'swim' that night. He had dried himself off as much as he could but his exhaustion took over. He sneezed and shook his head. He was beginning to feel very sick.
"I'm feeling fine" he lied. He didnt want her to worry but a cough escaped followed by a coughing fit. Once his coughing fit was over, he settled back down in his nest. He knew after that, she wouldnt believe what he told her.

"Don't lie." Cannalily said oddly sternly. It sounded funny coming from her of all cats. "Do you want me to go get Mercury so Mercury can get something for your cough?"
He pinned his ears back, feeling embarrassed that she had caught him in his lie. *Nice going, Larkwing* he thought. "No, thats okay. I'm fine. Really. In fact, I can return to my duties right now" he stood up but suddenly felt really dizzy and he stumbled out of his nest and headed for the exit.
He stepped back when she cut in front of him and pinned his ears grossly. "No. Im not a kit" he stumbled back to his nest with a cross flick of his tail and settled into it. "I just dont like being in here." He laid his head on the edge of his nest and stared up at her.

"I haven't met a cat that does like to be in here," Cannalily said. "I certainly didn't like being in here as long as I was..." Her eyes went distant for a moment before she shook herself out of it. "Is your nest warm enough, Larkwing?"
"Actually, yes. The feathers are a nice touch." He was quite curious about why she had been in the medicine den but he knew by the way she changed the subject quickly that she clearly didnt want to be asked about it.

Cannalily padded over and lied by Larkwing, making sure to be close so she could share her body heat. She shivered a little, feeling his still wet fur. "You're still not dry? That's really bad..."

Cannalily didn’t seem to notice how sleepy he was. “Drying off when you’re wet in this cold is super important! It could make you sicker you know.” She pouted a little bit.
