Firewood had spent day after day trying to master his sparring moves with one eye. It was getting a bit easier but he still found himself missing the tiny details here and there. The orange tom weaved side to side, trying to throw his imaginary opponent off before making a false swipe to the left and then a real one to the right. He let out a hiss of frustration as he missed the tree by a few fox hairs once again. "This just stinks." He mumbled sourly and flopped on the ground.
A light purr came from not far off, an apprentice stepping forward after having observed him for some time. Lemonpaw flicked her golden tipped tail towards Firewood in greeting before she sat down and wrapped her tail around her paws. "Having some trouble?" she asked after several moments, blue eyes observant as ever.

Firewood felt the fur on his neck raise in irritation at the apprentice's voice. Of course this would be the perfect time to gloat over how well her training was going and how good of a fighter she was. He was an easy target, after all. Letting out a sigh, the flame-furred warrior turned his good side towards her and sighed. "Obviously."
The bitterness that seemed to come from the tom wasn’t what she was expecting. Lemonpaw hid the small grimace that threatened to form upon her maw as she decided to take a different approach. “Would you like someone to work with?” She asked, her tone remaining friendly and open.
