Griffonwing felt awkward once again. It had all happened so suddenly. It felt like yesterday he was married and happily getting to know his wife. She was different but he was slowly growing attached to her. Now that she was gone he felt the absence of her presence. At night when he slept the den seemed a little draftier, meal time felt a little lonelier, he felt a little less interested in keeping himself groomed. He was proud of his sister for becoming sovereign but they hadn't spoken to one another in years and all their other littermates had died as kits. He had never felt lonelier than this moment so he just continue to smile and laugh like nothing had changed. Here, by the stream, he was alone and finally the tom could let out a long and heavy sigh. "What a time to be alive."

Winterpaw was paddling along the edge of the river, having just left a fight with her brother. She fluffed her fur out in frustration “what a mousbrain!” She grumbled to herself, “I am capable of hunting a-“ her muttering trailed off at the sound of another cats sigh.
Through the bushes she could see Griffonwing sitting at the edge of the river. “What a time indeed!” She mewed gently, as not to startle the Tom.

His ears stood tall as his head swung around to see who'd spoken. To his surprise Winterpaw stood before him and he waved his tail in greeting. "Out hunting?" He asked in a friendly tone. Unlike most of his clanmates he was not hitile r rough, he tended to be a much warmer and friendlier cat than most. Certainly unlike his sister. Indigocrown was always the proper ice princess.

Giving a friendly smile, “yes!” She mewed “I figured, it would be good to stretch my legs!” She padded over and flopped down next to the Tom. “it’s a nice day.” She glanced into the stream, the water moved to much to catch a reflection. Without much thought she dipped a paw into the water, “AH!” She pulled her paw back and stuck her young out at the water. “Despite how chilly it still is.” She knew the water would be cold, just not THAT cold.
Griffonwing chuffed with laughter at the apprentice. "It's the end of winter, silly. Of course it's going to be cold." He turned north towards the very tip top of the mountain and pointed with his right front paw. "You see that? The snow melts off of the top of the mountain and into this water. You may as well dunk yourself in a pool of ice this time of year its so cold." The tom enjoyed spending time with the clans apprentices, they were all so innocent and curious. He remembered the days when he was like that. He held back a sigh at that thought. He missed those days quite often the older he got. He really was turning into an old man at this rate with how sentimental he'd become.
"Of course, you could take a swim if you wanted but I wouldn't recommend it," the warrior warned.

Licking her paw dry to hide her embarrassment, “yeah , I suppose it would wold be.” She mewed with a chuckle. “I think I will leave the swimming up to a braver cat.” Winterpaw preferred the water in ice form, it was more fun that way.
She finished drying her toes and mewed, “what are you doing out here?” Her curiosity getting the best of her.
