Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
A small kit with awkwardly large paws, he clearly has some growing to do, sniffed at a patch of daisies. As cautiously as he could he tip toed around the flowers shuffling down hiding in their lush growth. Buffalokit wanted to come watch the garden keepers as they tended to the plants.
he loved the plants here, he loved the smell, and admired the keepers hard work. he wanted to be like them one day, tending the plants so he could get to smell them every day. of course there are flowers all over the territory, but this was a special place. It was full of daisies the flower he associated with his mom.
He watched the garden quietly hidden in the plants. He watched as a butterfly flouted by. He watched as a lady bug crawled up a stem hopping on his nose, it tickled and he couldn't help himself. With a big huff he sneezed! his cover was blown.
"stupid ladybug!" he mewed looking around to see if his cozy spot was discovered.
Though her duties extended to caring for the clan as a whole now, Sunstar was still a Garden Keeper at heart. When she wasn't busy negotiating with WinterClan or handling clan affairs, she was here, tending the fresh herb sprigs and youngling blooms breaking through the frozen ground. After securing a fragile victory over NightClan and reclaiming their home and freedom, the melting snows were washing away the last of the blood stains, the Garden Keepers were able to restock the critically low herb stores, and the clan was finally healing. She was healing.
It was peaceful here, nary a troubled thought or predator to be found, and Sunstar was able to let herself relax, slip into a trance, her paws shifting the soil and snipping away dead growths to make room for the future. She worked seamlessly, methodically, the motions so natural to her that she needn't think before she acted, until her eyes began to droop, lulled nearly into sleep.
Then Buffalokit sneezed, and she jolted awake, leaping to her paws. She whirled around to face her foe- only to come face-to-face with the kit. "Wha-?" Confusion lowered her brow over her eyes, Sunstar taking a minute to process. This was one of those safari-themed kittens, but she couldn't quite place her paw on which one, only certain he wasn't one of the two troublemakers carving a reputation for themselves in the nursery. "What are you doing out here, kit whose name I definitely know?"

Wide eyes Buffalokit stared at Sunstar standing before him. He had seen the leader before but he wasn't expecting to be face to face with her anytime soon. "um, I-" He got nervous, glancing around for an excuse, what does a cat say in this situation? "I was watching the garden keepers." he mewed sheepishly looking at his paws. "it smells nice here and..." he thought about his pseudo siblings, remembering the antics some of them get into. "oh! I wont cause any trouble!"
He loved his friends, but he could admit they got into trouble a lot. Buffalokit was happy to have them, and happy that they now have a place to stay. Of course the abundance of flowers made this place even better. "Oh um... I'm buffy, or... I guess it's Buffalokit." he rambled on nervously, not wanting to make a bad impression.
Never having been the best with kits, it took Sunstar longer than most to realize her presence likely frightened him. When she did, she gave her pelt a shake and sat down, pulling her tail to fall over her paws. She even ventured a smile, though it was just as strained and nervous. "Watching the Garden Keepers?" she echoed, sizing him up. Of all the kits that wandered into SummerClan recently, Buffalokit dwarfed the rest, with thick sinew and strong muscles that would make him a terrifying Warrior to face in battle. His interest in garden-tending surprised her, but pleasantly so. "I have noticed you take a particular interest in the gardens. Have any of the Keepers taught you how to weave flower crowns yet?"

he looked up in awe at the words flower crown. He hadn't thought of that before. "I... no..." curious he relaxed just a bit. "Can you show me?" he thought about it, maybe he could give them to his friends when he got better at it.
"Sure," she purred, and then waved her tail broadly, gesturing at the array of hardy blooms that survived the rapidly changing temperatures. Daffodils, snowdrops, bluebells, lilac, and a spectrum of other multicolored flower heads waved cheerily in the breeze. "What kind of flowers do you like the most? I think the lavender would pair well with your eyes and fur color," she remarked.

Buffalokit looked around thinking for a moment. Remembering watching a garden keeper caring for a bed of flowers purple and tall, remembering that those where called lavender. He noticed the snowdrops, having been curious about them not knowing what they where. "I like these, can I use them with lavender?" he asked curiously. the flowers hanging from the stems where soft and gentle. The scent was weak but was fresh and cooling. "It looks like it is tired, or like it has to much snow on it so it can't stand up." he grew relaxed feeling comfortable now.
A smile- this time more genuine, having now relaxed- spread across Sunstar's bright face, the leader chuckling at the kit's description. "You can, and you're right," she conceded, already moving over to the bowed snowdrops. They'd always resembled cats with heads lowered in prayer, but she favored Buffalokit's interpretation more; it stirred up fond memories of one young Sunkit laden with snow.
"We clip them off here," she demonstrated a clean slice through a stem, a few claw lengths off the ground, "so they're long enough to twine together. I'll gather the lavender and you can get the rest of the snowdrops, okay?"
The clumsy kit bounded after his leader, nodding his head. He was eagerly soaking up every word, this was more fun to him than the typical play with the other kits. He watched closely as Sunstar smoothly cut the flower free. “That doesn’t like to hard!” He mewed exited. Glancing around he decided on the flower he wanted to try on. Buffalokit tried his best to copy how she had done it, his paws unsteady but still confident. After a few seconds he had wiggled the stem loose with his kit claws, it wasn’t a clean cut but it did the job. The end was frayed and tattered, and the flower was a bit shaken, but the young kit was still proud of his work. “Like that?” He mumbled with a mouth full of stem. It was a goofy site, the bright eyed kit, and the poor flower that looked like it had been through some things.
She had the forethought to not laugh at the sight, though a chuckle did escape. "That'll do fine for what we're using them for," she assured him. The steadiness would come later, once he had more practice, but to his credit, they'd managed to turn Foxfable into a fine Garden Keeper, irregardless of his frequent sneezes.
Once the two of them accrued a bundle of flowers, Sunstar beckoned Buffalokit to an area near a small pond dotted by lilypads and sun-bathing turtles too warm and lazy to move. "Each Garden Keeper has their own method of crafting crowns," she lilted softly, laying the flowers at their paws. "I use the one taught to me by my mother, which is to weave them around like so." She demonstrated the motion with natural tact, looping the stem of one around the head of another, and then repeating it to reinforce the crown's structure. As it started to develop, she paused and looked up at Buffalokit, wordlessly urging him to give it a shot.

The small kit fluffed his chest at the leaders words. "I will make the best flower crown!" he purred as he bounded after Sunstar. Buffalokit watched her working the stems together, watched how she wove and looped them. At the mention of Sunstars mother, his heart tightened a bit, his mother would probably have liked this, he made a note to make one in her honor later.
When she stopped and looked at the young kit, he jumped slightly "oh yeah," a small squeak left him. Grabbing some of the flowers he gently copied the loops, though to loose it was coming along, his pattern was messy but he was still proud of himself. "like this?" Holding up his progress slightly, it looked goofy and tattered the work of clumsy paws. "why is it all messy?" trying his best to redo the stems to set right.
"Here, tighten these parts right here and here." Sunstar pulled one of the stems to close the obvious gaps, tightening them around each other. The developing crown immediately strengthened.
As it began to take shape under Buffalokit's technique, the moments in which Sunstar had to correct him lessened until a gentle silence buzzed. Honeybees began to bob by, attracted to the sweet-smelling blooms, but flitted away from the cats' movements, and one by one the turtles slid off the bank into the algae-thick water. Eventually, her mind started to wander- was this what it might feel to have kits of her own? She'd never given much, if any, thought at all to the idea, even when Reapingnight had shared her nest. Would she even make a good mother? Did she want to be?
Her eyes slid back to Buffy, watching as he struggled and persevered, learned to listen to his intuition and gained confidence in only this short while. He was already overshadowing the quiet, timid kit that'd turned up in SummerClan those several days ago, and she suddenly found herself curious. "Buffy?" Sunstar cinched the final loop in her own crown- one similar to his, with the snowdrops and lavender, but strung through were bright, bursting dandelions: her signature- to catch the tom's gaze. "You and your friends... Where did you all come from?"
buffalo worked diligently, nodding along to every word, his tongue h sticking out as he worked. So focused on his work he did not notice his surroundings. The kit enjoyed the peace that came with working with his paws, he could let his thoughts wonder, he had not noticed the slow progress he had made and the silence that lay in the air.
When Sunstar broke his thoughts he looked up. "well," thinking for a second. "Zesty And Meer said they came from the two-leg place, they are closer than the rest of us because of it." he was a little jealous of their friendship but he understood, they had been through a lot together. "I haven't asked gazelle." he didn't really know much about the rage filled she cat. as for himself, he felt his heart pang. "my mom and I lived in the woods, we would travel around living in hollow tree trunks and thick bushes." he thought of his favorite tree trunk they stayed there for a few days, it had soft moss growing on one side, and lots of flowers waving in the wind, and mom would tell him stories about the wild clan cats. "On one of our travels she said she had to go by herself." he shuttered at the memories, he remembered how frantic she was, that cold dark day. "she promised she would be back and made me promise not to leave the tall patch of daisies." they had just gone over his head, he must have only been a few moons old. "so I stayed until I was so hungry I couldn't anymore, and that's when I found my friends." he felt his eyes water, his mother was so soft, and so kind. He couldn't imagine she would have abandoned him, confident something bad must have happened to her.
