Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The last moon had been a disaster. Solsticestar had secluded herself in her den, refusing to come out for any reason. She slowly emerged from her den, fur thin and matted. Her eyes were dull and almost lifeless. Every rib was visable, even though she had eaten. She tried to avoid attention as she slipped out of camp.
Meadowlark licked his paw and ran it through the hair above his head. It had been sometime since he saw Solsticestar and when her thin body slipped through the entrance of EarthClan, his eyes grew wide. He wasn't much for sneaking around, but he was curious as to why the leader had left unannounced. He followed silently, but not secretively.
Seablossom was mourning, her father had just passed this last moon and she blamed herself. She'd been there when he'd died, and it was tearing her apart. All of the what if's, the what could have been's running through her head. It was what had brought her outside of camp yet again. Time to clear her head, and maybe come to understand what had happened. It was on this walk that she spotted their dear leader. "Solsticestar?" Her own worries could wait, she thought the moment she spotted the leader, Solsticestar clearly needed a shoulder to cry on, or to just speak too.
She stopped at the voice. "Oh! Seablossom!" The leader almost collapsed with relief at the warrior's appearance. She was one of the warriors she didn't mind seeing her in this state.
"Good morning, Solsticestar." Seablossom gave a brief bow of her head in respect to the higher ranked cat. With a tilt of her head, "are you alright?" She looked a little worn down, tired, and just in general not like herself. It wasn't odd to see the other she-cat down in this weather, it had always seemed to cause her to carry a sadness about her, but this didn't seem the same as those times had been. Even then, it wasn't bad enough that the leader felt the need to isolate herself from everyone else.
She shook her head, almost falling over in the process. She caught herself, stumbling. Typically, Solsticestar wasn't one to open up to any cat, but this weight had been too much for her to just ignore. It wasn't that something had happened, but a lot of times she was depressed and isolated. The queens had told her it was a curse when she was young, and she almost believed it.
"Well..if there's anything I can do to help do let me know." She was only recently promoted to deputy but that didn't stop her from wanting to be of assistance to Solsticestar in any means. Even in her own mourning state, Seablossom could see that the she-cat needed the help more than she was letting on, more than the white she-cat herself needed. "We can talk, and it doesn't have to be about what's bothering you."
"We can go somewhere more private if you want. Otherwise, I thought about fishing today if you'd like to join me by the river." Maybe if Solsticestar didn't have to worry about being stared out or judged, then she'd be more open in telling Seablossom what was bothering her. She' didn't mean to pry or be nosey but she could tell the issue was bothering their leader more than she let on. Safe, quiet places were always best for thinking too. So fishing would be great, as well as act as a buffer for the conversation. Seablossom found that that always helped her when she was facing a difficult conversation. Her uncle and her had used the excuse of a patrol in order to confront her father about their issues, though that probably wasn't the greatest example considering he died during that meeting.
Allowing for Solsticestar to led the way, Seblossom fell in line next to her. The weather was warm enough today for fishing, hopefully, the fish thought so as well and would make it easier to catch them. In her state of grieving and doubt from recent events, the warrior had no idea while Solsticestar had chosen her as deputy, maybe she'd ask while they were fishing. In the same instance, she didn't want to as she was afraid it would look bad by taking away from the leader's problems to demand to know the answer as to why she'd been chosen above all others, though she wouldn't demand to know it just felt to her like that's what it would seem like she was doing. It was all a mess in general.
The leader stayed silent as the two of the walked, scanning thier surroundings as they walked. Not much had changed in her seclusion, she noted silently.
Reaching the river, Seablossom took a seat near its edge. She'd wait quietly, eyes fixed on the waters before her, until Solsticestar was ready to talk. The warrior knew she wouldn't be happy to be pushed on matters and wouldn't do the same to others.
"Why is that?" How could someone like Kerrigan choose wrongly? There was no one better in their time of need than Solsticestar to fill the gap that was left by Kerrigan's depart. Anyone could see that. Seablossom didn't understand why Solsticestar had chosen her to help her lead the clan, surely the cat knew of what had happened between her and her father as of recent, knew of his death and the part she'd played in it. If anyone should be worrying about the position they hold its Seablossom
"I don't think of it that way. You chose the two cats you knew would be beneficial to the clan, even if they do need training. Asking for help isn't a bad thing." Mountainsound was a great teacher, and surprisingly to Seablossom new her Grandmother's old mentor. It was strange to think that there were cats around that still knew Ambersky. "EarthClan has been in worse situations before and come out on top. We'll be just fine with you as our leader." It was meant to be comforting but she wasn't sure it had been. Hopefully, Solsticestar understood what she was getting at.
"That's all that matters. We've just gotta stay a united force." She spoke with such conviction, trying to help strengthen the belief she had in the leader. Seablossom chanced a glance at Solsticestar, smiling with hope and certainty at the other cat.
