@starkravingmad uwu How anyone could live in such a bitterly cold environment was beyond Aine's understanding. But that didn't mean she didn't enjoy it. The surface was still caked in snow, least on the half that she and her family ended up on. Admittedly, they weren't getting on very well. And she could definitely expect an earful from the folks when she inevitably would come back empty-pawed. If this was how they were to go out, then Aine Soothsong welcomed it with open paws.
But thinking on it just brought her back to that time she chased a hare over Primal Instinct border. Or so she was told by the guy she literally ran into. Aine really should have paid attention to her basic hunting training, but it was so boring. Plus it wasn't like this guy helped. He was so mad, he let the hare get away. Not that she could take him very seriously. And before she knew it, she was getting chased back off. Guess her jokes weren't landing. She didn't really have a bone to pick with them, but come on, her jokes were pretty humerus. But that hunter was a total numskull.
Snow was dusted along her dark pelt, the sheet around her looking more like a trypophobic's worse nightmare. There was no rhyme or reason to where she dug up snow, and all she found under it was dead grass. But that gave her a lot of snow to form a hill. She wanted it to be a self sculpture, but cat paws aren't the best for sculpting. So the details were pretty bad. She stood on the smaller of the piles, possibly the head? Or a very wonky body. A hunk of ice fell off of it, and Aine let out a huff. "Snowy. You gotta stop scratching at your pelt. How will you be able to take care of yourself at this rate?"

He was tired, and he regretted coming home. At least that's what some of the Regime cats would call it. Jagger never cared much for the snow, it was the only thing that made him grateful to live underground. The underground was arguably warmer than the surface, so long as your nest was warm. After traveling around some of the more abandoned areas surrounding the regime's territory in search for the missing cats of Renegade Regime his paws ached and throbbed. For once Jagger was grateful for the snow as it aided in soothing his aching paws.
Once again his efforts to find his missing cats proved fruitless. He wore his defeat like a scar, daring those who openly stared to ask if they were brave enough. As the fiery tom made his way closer to camp he stuck out like a beacon against the white snow. The mud and dirt he often wore to quiet his fur color now mostly washed away by the barely frozen water. He would of walked right by Aine had she not spoken. Jagger wasn't able to erase the bad mood that was written all over his face as he stopped to regard the she-cat.

"Y." Aine swiftly corrected, hopping down off of Snowy's back to confront the wandering flame. Though her tone was still light as she faced Jagger. She didn't recognize him though. "Her name's Snowy. She'll grow to be big and strong one day, just watch." She spoke of the snow sculpture like it was a living breathing cat. Granted, Snowy needed to start taking better care of herself. And as much as Aine wanted to remind her, she kept her attention on Jagger. Bright blue eyes boring a hole through him for all of a moment.
Suddenly, the back of her paw was against his forehead. "Hmm~♫ Hmm~hmm ♫." Her paw shifted around. On his neck, his chest, and back to his head before she gave it a rest and returned to sitting. "Well, you appear pretty well, so I don't think you're here for a visit or a council. Probably for the best, business has been booming lately for the Guiders. We're running out of supplies and at the rate we're going..." Aine trailed off, dusting her paws into the snow. Her chipper tone against the dreadful news was jarring to anyone other than her. "So, what're you doing up in this neck of the moors, stranger?"

Jagger stared blankly at the she-cat as she spoke of the pile of snow she just hopped off of as it were actually alive. His amber eyes flicking past her to regard the snow-cat briefly just to confirm it actually was just snow and he hadn't missed an actual cat standing there when he approached. Something about the way she spoke made him uneasy, instinctively taking a step back doing his best to keep his fur from bristling and giving away his discomfort.
When she'd touched him however was a different story. Though he didn't try to fight her off, he did his best to calmly swat her paw away from him, not a fan of being touched without his expressed permission. "Guiders you said? does that mean there are Regime cats near by?" he asked, keeping his tone calm despite being internally frazzled by this interaction so far.

Aine briefly paused when Jagger swat her paw away, regarding Jagger with amusement flickering in her eyes. Not that he really stopped her from just touching him again. It was in both their best interests, after all. But, she didn't try to check again, much as his restrained annoyance was funny to her.
"Yeah, there are some." Aine chirped, suddenly shifting her gaze away from him to stare at her paw. Like her claws clicking together was more interesting, or maybe she was trying to hide something. "They come and go. No one really knows what to do or where to go, but they always need a doctor, no? So there's probably more around..." Her gaze flicked back to him, "Who's askin' anyway?"

"New management" he responded as if the answer was some how funny to him. More than likely though it was just his nervous response. He had a bad habit of smiling and laughing at the most inappropriate times. Usually this got him into more trouble than it was worth and right now he was already second guessing his answer as he watched Aine. None of this internal debate was made obvious though, he kept his amber eyes fixed on her as if waiting for a more coherent answer.
"I am looking for the rest of the regime, I was wondering if any had grouped up here, It can be hard to find the tunnels when the snow is constantly falling and covering up the scent its easy to get lost if you haven't be here in awhile."

Tied up in a perfect little box. He really wasn't letting anything slip. How fascinating. It's like an oyster though. The harder it is to open, the more you want to for that pearl inside.
But she really couldn't help the amused huff she made at his answer. "Okay great, bucko. All the more reason to share names, if you ask me. The only cats that could get away with those vague kinda titles are long gone and a rather confusing read." Her paw made a move to drop, but then rose to her mouth as she stared off in the distance for a moment, contemplating the words she just said. It reminded her of hushed whispers of the past, ones you wouldn't want others to hear. Things were always a bit closed minded around here.
For just a moment too long, she stared at nothing in the sky, her tail tapping at an unheard rhythm. And then her gaze made it back to Jagger's, like that pause was for only a second, "Besides, if I bring someone back no one wants, or even recognizes - well, it'd be bad news for both of us. I'll even throw you a bone. The name is Aine Soothsong."

The ginger tabby sighed, suppressing the urge to roll his eyes. It wouldn't help if he was rude, well more so than he had already been to the guider. Though he did suppose she had a point. Jagger had been a mercenary of the regime before... everything. Even if they didn't recognize his new rank of commander, they would know him.
"Okay, Aine my name is Jagger Jaeger." To be honest he didn't understand the she-cat, though it wasn't her words that put him off. It was her strange body language, it was hard to gauge the she-cat though in this moment he would just have to trust her and hope for the best.

"Jagger Jaeger, huh?" The name rang a bell. Some bell. In the very back of her mind. Least the last name. Guess he was a former Regime cat. It was a relief. She didn't want to deal with other clans or loners trying to butt into their business. "Well, sounds right to me. I don't know where every single cat is, but I can show you to where I'm staying..." She trailed off, considering another negotiation. He was rather rude to Snowy, after all. But she shook the idea off, already over it. "Come come." Aine Soothsong chirped, already heading off. Leaving behind the cold body of Snowy.

He wasn't sure why he felt relieved that the she-cat recognized him, or rather his name. Though he found himself relieved all the same. Part of him, excited that he had just passed some sort of test he had not been prepared for. His eyes brightened as the she-cat spoke, so there were Regime cats scattered about their home lands. That made things easier, even if just slightly.
"Thank you." he said, bounding after her when she turned to leave in such a hurry, already unconcerned with her snow-made companion. "Once things get settled and we find the others things will go back to normal." Jagger commented, far too certain for a cat who had no idea what he was actually signing up for.

Now there was a spark of something she hadn't seen in a while. Hope. Everyone she knew had given up on it moments after the earth started shaking. Not that Aine could blame them. They were now starving and separated. It could easily turn into the end of the Regime.
So it was Aine's turn to be surprised when he bounded after her. He couldn't have known, but the simple act brought some relief to Aine's mind. It's hard being the only hopeful one in a hopeless situation. The fiery tom kept pace with her. Maybe fire really would save their clan. Though when he spoke, her smile dropped for a brief moment. "Do you really think so?" Her voice scratched at her throat, the cold settling into her very veins.

"Well as normal as we can manage. We have a lot of work to do, and though everything may not be exactly as it was, it'll be better than it is now." He didn't have to lie to guider now, he knew this to be true. Whatever challenges the Regime had waiting ahead of them they would overcome it. Jagger would see to that. After all that's why the Blind Protector had given him his lives. to protect the cats of the Regime.
"So other than building snow cats, what have you been doing out here exactly?"

It'd be easy to be snappy, to say that anything is easier than their lot now. Hell, dying would be easier. Not that Aine actively sought death, but she didn't fear it either. She'd rather believe he was right. Though Jagger said it with such confidence, like he knew something she didn't. But what could it be? The question burned in her mind more than the philosophies.
Her cheeks puffed up a bit as she thought, silently glad for the topic change. "At least call Snowy by her name!" She chided the commander light heartedly, "Well, besides the usual of digging out herbs and searching for ghosts, I've been... uh, doing a bit of a side gig for some loners and rogues."
