Blackberry found himself rather confused after the acting leader's patrol had come back. The mysterious tom cat seemed cross, a look in his eyes and in his body language read 'do not approach' and to be fair, the warrior heeded the warning. It seemed so odd though, considering what they had been there for. He assumed everything had gone well, but in retrospect maybe it hadnt... Draven hadnt said a word, and Blackberry was the last one who was going to bother asking.
He found himself in the company of a younger warrior, and as a somewhat odd conversation starter, he asked, thinking he couldnt be the only one that noticed the leader's change in temperament, "Hey Firefly you think somethings off with Draven?" he drawled.
Firefly looked up the tom cocking his head. "What do you mean?"
Firefly had been part of the patrol to accompany Draven to the Moon Creek. And honestly the dark tom was kinda spooky overall. Firefly didn't want to look too long at him for fear he'd like... curse him or something.
His fondness for crows also just was eerie. Sure SunClan might've been the clan to have them as ill omens and what not. But still the birds were just so... intelligent it was scary.
And honestly after dealing with a flood that wanted to destroy them, Firefly preferred to act with an abundance of caution.

"I dont know what to call it, its like a... vibe that you get from 'im," he explained, hoping it made some sense. "Like he'll kill you with his eyes, like a snake," he continued, his eyes flitting over the entrance of the leaders den, wondering if maybe the feeling went further and the odd tom could even hear them from a distance.
Firefly hummed. "Mmm, I dunno bout vibes man." He admitted. "And I've honestly avoided looking him in the eyes." Firefly's ear twitched. "Just gives me the spooks," He muttered. "Dude comes out of nowhere and says Jetstar made him leader. But I'm just trying to go with the flow... at the least we're not dealing with a deluge of water anymore right?"
Nearby Softpelt had been grooming herself, the white she cat paused in the act, ear twitching as she overheard the pairs conversation. The fluffy white she cat's eyes narrowing in thought.

He furrowed his brows, unsure how a cat that couldnt look another in the eyes couldnt believe that there was just something inherently off about him, but shrugged it away. Maybe it was something to do with being of a different generation. "I'm glad the flood is gone, but such odd timing, and Jetstar just leaving us like that..." he trailed off, a hint of sadness in his eyes, "I hope she was right about him is all."
Firefly shrugged. "I think we'll just have to wait and see. Everyone had misgivings about Jetstar, and she turned out fine. Sacrificed herself to destroy the dam after all."
He waved his tail. "I'm gonna go look for a bite to eat, catch you later." He said before padding away.
Softpelt watched Firefly walk away. Debating for a moment before rising to her paws and going over to Blackberry. "I thought I was imagining it... but I've also been getting a bad feeling." She confided in him, her voice soft as she sat down beside him.

Blackberry nodded at the self-dismissal of the other warrior, wishing him well before looking inward, shaking his head. He couldnt be the only one thinking that something was off about the new leader, but he found himself a bit isolated.
He settled down, tucking his paws under his tail as he stared intently at the leader's den, wondering just what about this whole scenario made him so uneasy. It left a bad taste in his mouth. The thought was interrupted though as Softpelt just about appeared next to him, breaking his concentration. His pelt warmed over with embarrassment, "Hope I wasnt loud enough for everyone to hear," he apologized, though gave a knowing look towards the she-cat. "Its not just you alone with those feelings though."
"No, I'm just a very good listener... You survive enough dictators and evil leaders, you learn to always keep your ears open." Softpelt said a sad smile on her face before she shook her head.
"As far as I can tell everyone else was caught up in their own business. As an elder now I have nothing to do but listen and talk." The white she cat said.
"And unfortunately watch, and what I've been seeing isn't very comforting."

The large warrior raised a brow. He had forgotten that the she-cat had retired to the elders den. She seemed just as spry as the day he had came to this clan, yet he knew that there were plenty of reasons for cats to retire, and he didn't blame her at all, she had done just about every job this clan had to offer, and then some. He offered a small smile back, and then asked, "What all have you been seeing? With patrolling and hunting so much I feel like I miss the nuisances that seemed so easy to spot before," he chuffed, "I guess being worked to the bone will do that to you."
Softpelt sighed. "Troubling patterns that without fail herald bad tidings." She said ears lowering.
It was all too easy to see the fury vibrating within Draven in every step he took around SpringClan, practically vibrating with teh force of it, like Tarantulastar, in the days leading up to when he banished all the daylight warriors and ended them for good in SpringClan.
She could see it in the coldness of his eyes. An ice that Eternalstar had carried within her when she forced kits too young to become apprentices, like Tarantulastar before her.
And admittedly... she'd even started to see anger growing in Jetstar. But the she cat had been more angry and frustrated with herself and the situation than with SpringClan.
"He's angry... I don't know why, but the cat who stood before us when he told us he was leader has changed since he went to the mooncreek. He wears darkness like a cloak." Softpelt murmured.

Blackberry agreed. Draven had changed during that patrol. He wasnt sure when it happened, but after they had left the mooncreek something had switched in the leader.
"You've been though quite a bit hmm...?" he hummed, thinking to himself, "I wonder what exactly happened that made him change, but i think its more important to ask where will this end us do you think?"
"Rarely it ends well," Softpelt admitted. "There's... not really much to be done. Aside from maybe spread the word try to get it out to everyone that things are amiss. But... perhaps he is just angry at something. Jetstar was angry as well... and though it was obvious her anger and frustration stemmed from the situation of it all, maybe there's something angering Draven that just... isn't quite obvious."
It was wishful thinking and she knew it but Softpelt didn't want to believe the tom to be all bad.
