Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Hmph." She muttered, putting his paw down and shaking her head. "I will be honest with you, Chim. I am unsure on how to treat this, and I believe I may need to ask Straybullet for assistance."
"Might as well leave it, then," Chim huffed, taking his paw back and tucking it under his chest. "It'll be fine within a few days." He didn't know or trust the new medicine cat, and having met one of the healers, he was no longer keen on meeting the other.
"Chim, stop being so stubborn." Meadoweyes huffed loudly, shaking her head, again, looking too much like her mother. "Please, I only want to help you. I am just afraid this is beyond my understanding." She paused, finding a new leverage. "It would help me to see how to heal this, and I need all the training I can get. Please?" She asked, her eyes rounding in a begging manner.
"Straybullet is so nice too! You'd love him." There was a slight warmth in her words, almost as if she were fawning over the tom.
Chim chose to say nothing regarding her sudden adoration of her mentor -- he had no desire to discover whether she was just admiring him or harboring an apprentice crush. "I do not want to be kept here too long," he told her, a bit testy now, almost regretting his choice to come back. "If I am gone too long, Pygmyprawn will worry."
He had his thoughts about that statement, honestly. It was not out of line for Chim to be gone for many days at a time, lost in his own thoughts. But he did think she would worry eventually that the old tom had wandered into a hole his old bones couldn't drag him from.
Her ears flicked, as if brought back to reality. "Who..?" Meadoweyes didn't know everyone that the tom did. In fact, she could only remember so much of WaterClan.
Chim raised one brow, a motion so characteristic for him that it looked more natural than most of his other expressions. "My mate, Pygmyprawn." She had been his best friend since they were imprisoned together, and when it was time for him to leave the clan, he had decided to settle down with her in a quiet home of their own.
Chim regarded her with care. "Pygmyprawn understands me better than most cats, and she has stayed loyal to me since we met. She cares deeply for me, and I for her." When he had proposed, he called it love. And he did love her, deeply and fiercely, but it wasn't the burning romantic passion that drove most cats; it was soft and stable and he did not know if it was romantic or platonic, nor did he care. "When I left SwiftClan, I knew she would be the perfect company, and we have been happy."
"I would.. really like it if you would stay. I am worried about your paw, Chimerahunt." she paused. "I'm sure that Pygmyprawn could come hang here as well, at least until you're better."
"She won't." That was the easiest part to answer. Pygmypawn liked their home, she had struggled with clan life, and he would not ask her to abandon it now. He wanted to go home to her too, but something about her swayed him. Maybe it was her genuine concern. Maybe it was the memory of her mother. Maybe time had made him soft. Regardless of the reason, he gave in reluctantly.
"I suppose I can send someone else from the clan to my den, to tell her I will be a few days late."
