Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Shatteredshine had gone moons without an apprentice, and she was thrilled to have one again. She was just as excited for the ceremony to end as Prairiepaw, if not more so. Her touched noses with the little she-cat, shouted the new names with pride; the second it was over, she turned back to the little one.
"It's so nice to meet you, Prariepaw!" she chirped. "I'm Shatteredshine. Are you ready for training? Are you excited to be an apprentice?"
Prairiepaw nodded with so much enthusiasm she almost tore her head from her neck. "Yeah, I'm hyped!!!" she chirped, running around Shatteredshine in circles. "This is gonna be so much better than being a kit! No more waiting around in the stupid nursery all day no getting told off trying to go outside no queens hovering over you every second and bestofallyougetto FIGHT people!!!"
Shatteredshine laughed in delight. She had a soft spot for energetic apprentices; she'd been one herself, and she had nearly driven her uncle to murder a few times.
"For now, you're only going to be fighting me and the other apprentices, and only when a warrior says you can," she tacked on, thinking ahead. She wasn't going to start any 'paw brawls. "Maybe when you're older you can fight something else, okay? But you don't want to lose your first real fight!"
Prairiepaw, full of unearned confidence, nodded decisively. "Right!" she said, then whispered, "but I won't!" It was a very loud whisper, the kind that defeated the point of whispering in the first place. "So, what's on the agenda for today, Miss Shatteredshine? Can we start RIGHT NOW?"
Shatteredshine grinned. “Yeah, you do. But don’t worry. Queens love little helpers — and it’ll get you out of elder duty for the next quarter-moon so you can go on patrols. It’ll be quick and then Illl take you somewhere fun.”
She laughed, musical and warm. “Well I can’t have you ruining my reputation! I solemnly swear to take you out somewhere fun after we’re done. If I don’t impress you, and you threaten to expose me anyway… then I’ll only have one course of action left.” A play growl rumbled in her throat as she slunk forward, tail down and ears back; swift as a snake she lunged and tackled Prariepaw to the ground, holding her down with light pressure.
Prairiepaw let out an indignant shriek as Shatteredshine pinned her, light as it may have been. "This is assault!!! Okayokayokay let's just go help the hecking elders already I'msorryIsaidallthatstuffnowjustgetoffmeeee!!!"
The gray tabby growled ominously, but her victim had given in to her demands. She stepped off of Prariepaw, her expression settling in with a victorious glow. "Good! Now get going."
