Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Winterclan is having some big staffing changes made at once! Say goodbye to the lovely pao, racer, cleaver, and faith as they have all stepped down. They did wonderfully in their roles and will be missed ♥
Below are descriptions of each position and the application format. You do not have to be a current member of wic to try out for any or all positions. These will be open until at least the 5th of February, but may go on longer. If you have any questions please feel free to send me a message on site or on discord. TRYOUT ROLES & DESCRIPTIONS
Heir – The equivalent to deputy and will become the next Sovereign. The deputy is Indigocrown’s right hand and highly respected within the clan. Helps edit pages, craft and participate in clan plots, cannot already hold a leader or deputy position
Witch/Warlock (medicine cat) – The Witch is both the clan's healer and spiritual guide. They are the bridge between the clan and the northern lights. Helps craft and participate in clan plots, cannot already possess a medicine cat or medicine cat apprentice position
Pupil (medicine cat apprentice) – Assistant to the Witch/Warlock. Learning how to receive prophecies and omens and connect with the northern lights. Learning how to heal. Participates in clan plots, cannot already possess a medicine cat or medicine cat apprentice position.
Knight of the Stars – Performs weddings and divorce ceremonies, handles religious affairs, clan match maker, participates in festivals and festival planning, this is a roleplay position and everyone is welcome to try out!
Knight of the Guards – Is in charge of the clans guards each month, limits interactions between members and prisoners, advisor in times of war, participates in battles, this is a roleplay position and everyone is welcome to try out!
Being chosen for one of these roles will also automatically enroll you in the frosty cat club and you will earn 150 points for the promoted character!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GENRE OF BOOKS / MOVIES? Dude I can’t pick just one… I guess high fantasy’s the top one, though, isn’t it? That and historical fantasy. Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride & Prejudice + Zombies, all of the CDramas I watch near religiously…
WHAT KINDS OF ROLEPLAYS DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST? Oh boi, well, let’s see… slow burn. Romance, action, a whole load of miscommunication tropes. Enemies, frenemies, close friends to rivals to frenemies to lovers, families falling apart, found families coming together… Anything and everything I get into, so long as everybody’s hyped for it x”D

OPEN FORUM I dunno, man, I mean… I’m super interested in what you have in store for Winter. It’s been a long while since I’ve made an effort to be active in Winter since Chasingpaw went on his journey to NightClan, then SpringClan, and finally got Subtlepaw back at his side. So I’m ready to get involved again and what better way, y’know? Plus I think it’d just be fun. That’s why I’m trying out for this. I just wanna have fun on here lol

• What is your favorite genre of books/movies?: Books - High Fantasy like Brandon Sanderson or Patrick Rothfuss or... I don't know how to describe it but Southern Rich Murder Mystery? I love Rachel Hawkins haha. Movies - Again, fantasy. I obsessed over Harry Potter this year because I actually hadn't seen them all the way through. I love Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. I also love cheesy, dumb romances that make no sense in real life (yes, I am a Hallmark girl through and through). Shows are usually sci-fi like Doctor Who, National Geographic (I love a good documentary), fantasy like GOT or The Witcher, and sit coms like Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory, Friends, How I Met Your Mother, etc. If it's on, I'll probably watch it unless it's horror.
• What kinds of roleplays do you enjoy the most? Feel free to list more than one!: I love roleplays that have a purpose, even if that purpose isn't clear. It's fun to be given a prompt about what is happening, ideas of what could happen, and choose which direction the thread goes by how everyone responds! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE group rps. That is the kind of rping I miss the most about old, young Classic in the early years. Group warrior/apprentice rps, even if meaningless jabber, are so much fun. Kit ones are usually what you see nowadays, but I like the warrior adventure ones haha.
• What character are you thinking about using?: (You can change your choice once you’re chosen, feel free to list different characters for different positions as well! Just mention if they are a new or existing character) I'm so glad you worded this question this way because I can't decide between the 3 ideas I have hahaha - Tuskblood (existing), because I love her and you bringing her up the other day to me just made my heart smile (': She has so much potential here because her family is from the mountains, specifically somewhat near here. If I used her it would be for any of the three positions - Fellglow (new), because Fellstar eventually ok. Skyrim-themed cats are my biscuits right now. This character would be more on the quirky, mysterious side I think. I haven't fully thought out their personality but I have vague wisps of ideas. They would be for heir. - Waywardpass (existing), because in a new era of Winterclan I thought his coming up from the Snow Kitty ranks to here would be an interesting play on that struggle he has between knowing if his good works are through a pure heart or if he's just power-hungry. He would be for any of the three.
• Open forum: Well, I'm simply. I like animals, reading, coding, and other nerd things. To be honest, I have applied for several deputy positions recently because I really love being a deputy haha. I miss roleplaying that kind of character and have had the itch for a while now. I actually didn't realize Winterclan was going to have tryouts when planning out my Skyrim-themed cats in the discord because I figured the positions were already filled, so when I heard there would be tryouts I got pretty excited. Winterclan is a group I've not always been involved in but want to be. It has so much potential because it can be so cold and desolate, separated from the others, or embrace the Holiday spirit completely haha, or be mysterious and enchanting. There is a lot of lore around winter the season, so it would be fun to incorporate fun bits of lore into this clan itself. Catmas in July? I think yes.
Also if I use Tuskblood, then there is the possibility for orc-cat wars hahaha or just fun side plots to find her family. I feel like there is so much you can do here and I would be excited to brainstorm more ideas. With Fellglow, there is opportunity for oddball missions and exploration plots.

• What is your favorite genre of books/movies?: ⭑ I don't watch many movies but those I do are most often action movies. Or really cheesy monster movies where you laugh at the production and just have a grand time. I read many more books and my favorite genres are urban fantasy, history, or murder mystery novels. I read an amazing book once where the protagonist was being investigated for the murder but claimed innocence. It started off with the police knocking on her door. I can't remember the title and I don't want to spoil it but I also want to re-read it desperately because I remember it being amazing. I still sometimes find myself thinking about the ending to this day. [ If anyone knows please help me! ]
• What kinds of roleplays do you enjoy the most? Feel free to list more than one!:
⭑ I love very dramatic plots, where there are more than a few pieces and multiple people playing parts to drive it. Ones were one choice can change everything. The someone can make a choice that takes everything in a different direction. I'm also a lover of sad plots or character driven stories; angst if my guilty pleasure.
I also like meet cute roleplays where characters might hate each other or love each other but meet and then end up spending the day together. It's always sort of amusing to me how in rp everyone always interacts even if it's just to nag each other. Speaking of nagging I love roleplays with two characters who just pick at each other constantly.
• What character are you thinking about using?: ⭑ I'm thinking of using Fairytalesorrow who I've been ruminating on for days and think would really thrive in a position.
• Open forum: Originally when I saw this thread for open tryouts my mind jumped to Ruinhunter who I adopted but have yet to add. He had an interesting back story and a family. But the more I thought of it the more I couldn't see him in a position in Winterclan. Being so attached to his brother in Summerclan to sneaking over to visit him. He would not like the hassle. So instead I decided I would just get him added and enjoy the new reign. But then as I was writing Fairytalesorrow's bio the more I pictured him taking up a position of healing in the clan in his brothers memory; for a revenge driven desire to learn what was used to kill his brother and then use it to kill them. To use the new resources to try and hunt down his brothers murderer. Which is amusing because when I thought him up days ago the plan was to never have him seek revenge. Funny how characters will take on a life of their own.

• What is your favorite genre of books/movies?: Anything to keep me on the edge honestly!
• What kinds of roleplays do you enjoy the most? Feel free to list more than one!: I enjoy the ones that aren't planned, but end up keeping you ready to respond. I think those are the most fun when your characters just kinda take over!
• What character are you thinking about using?: Pupil: Cherrypaw - www.warrenphotographic.co.uk/photography/cats/12461.jpg - A rather curious she-cat who also seems a bit clumsy. Full of energy and ready to learn, has a strong heart, and sometimes questions rules and why they are the way they are. Despite that, she would do anything to help her clan flourish.
Heir: Raggedwolf - i.pinimg.com/736x/bb/86/60/bb866029ae5a1eccb2952e2ab8e4795b.jpg - A rather grumpy and moody tom. This cat seems to be easily irritated. He's not very approachable, however, he has earned his place in the clan time and time again. His fighting and hunting skills are precise, having helped him gain position. Despite his grumpy ways, he is a loyal cat to the bone, and knows the ins and outs of traditions and ways.

• What is your favorite genre of books/movies?: ⭑ I would say my favorite genre kind of ranges with my mood. I like murder mysteries a lot, but I also like supernatural and sci-fi themed entertainment.
• What kinds of roleplays do you enjoy the most? Feel free to list more than one!: ⭑ I really like plots that have some drama mixed in and isn't as predictable. I really like roleplaying and being surprised by what my roleplayer partner comes up with. I can envision my character having a difficult time thinking for herself and meeting her own needs. Arcticfox is going to be a very obedient cat that puts her job above everything else. It would be fun to plot out some complex situations for Arcticfox such as following in love with an outsider or being conflicted on following certain orders. I think most of all though I would like Arcticfox to have a friend that she grows close to and who might encourage her to think of herself a little more. It would also be interesting if some of her family members are found trespassing on Winterclan territory and Arcticfox has to make the decision between protecting her family and obeying her clan.
• What character are you thinking about using?: ⭑ I'm using Arcticfox for the tryouts! Arcticfox - unsplash.com/photos/Zqq_B-rnlNU -A slender white she-cat with a ginger face and tail. She has piercing blue eyes that are as cold as the snow she lives in. Arcticfox used to live in the snowy areas slightly outside of Winterclan territory as a loner. These frigid lands are the only area that feels like home to her. Her family had lived in these lands for generations with the belief that vitality and strength is destined to those who push themselves. She was raised by her parents to survive the harsh environment of endless winter and taught to fight off even the deadliest of foes that she may cross. Once her parents felt her and her siblings were ready to live life on their own, they encouraged them to leave the area, and forge their own way of life living in the arctic. Alas, the life of a loner living in an area where it was rare to see any other living cat was lonesome, and she spent many freezing winter nights wishing to a live a life surrounded by others who shared her same ideals. To Arcticfox, discovering Winterclan further past the area she lived was an answer to her wish. She believed she was destined to find Winterclan, and as a result believes she is destined to serve Winterclan with her entire being. This belief forged Arcticfox into a loyal and obedient warrior who would sacrifice her very life to ensure Winterclan's survival. To her, Winterclan is paradise and she is eager to follow any orders she is given by the savereign. However, under all the loyalty and obedience is she-cat who still cares about others and may have periods where she doubts what she is truly serving, but these doubts quickly fade once she reminds herself that without Winterclan she is nothing.
• Open forum: I think Arcticfox would be an interesting character to roleplay and continue fleshing out. I am eager to roleplay with the other applicants and other Winterclan members. I am excited to see what fun plots we all come up with to further the growth of our characters! I am applying because I really think Arcticfox would be fun in an important role. She is loyal enough to Indigocrown and would put her all into her position. I am only interested in the roleplay positions though, or potentially medicine cat. I think there are a lot better choices that have already applied to be heir and because of that I am not really interested in that position at this time. Many of the other people who have tried out have been here longer!!!

Or combining them in fun ways with modern society. I LOVE the Skulduggery Pleasant Series (though I fell off before finishing the series, I need to reread it again XP) Knight Rider isn't really a movie series, but it's my favorite TV series since I love the kind of character that isn't quite human but having the human experience. Legend series by Marie Lu was also a big love of mine, since it had the YA crazy post modern society esque stuff going on while also an enemies to lovers that I adored <3 • What kinds of roleplays do you enjoy the most? Feel free to list more than one!: I really like roleplays that show the building of characters bonds. I enjoy plot threads and how characters come together through the events. I haven't gotten that very much recently but I love it. Some of my best threads were where two characters were faced with a problem and they either failed successfully (Jetstar and Dancingdragon helping a poor queen with kitting despite them both being absolutely AWFUL since they have like almost negative experience with kits Favorite quote to this day from Jetstar: 'WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY JUST FALL OUT?!' I also love battle threads, we don't have a lot of battles which is something I'd like to see more of because I tend to really enjoy rping characters that want to be stronger or enjoy fighting: Jetstar was a character that really strove to be strong, and Crimsonrose wanted to grow stronger by experiencing battles and by teaching others to fight. And considering my two former favorites were Skipstar and Tenebrousrequiem, I tend to just enjoy characters that have a strong bond with someone and they're locked in. -Fierydaemon: Currently on the page. I loved our ideas we had with her and Indigocrown, maybe she becomes the matchmaker of the Knight of Stars through a twist of fate (she proves her merit as a wedding planner). She is currently a prisoner so we'd have to speedrun her to a full member XP but I think there's fun to be had with her being now thrust into a position in WinterClan despite this not really being the place she'd call home. Maybe she'll find that this is home, or just fail somewhat successfully. I like characters that don't know what they're doing and yet their experience just barely gets them through. Could also be a witch/pupil XP
Bleakwind - (not currently on page) Bleakwind is interesting. He was my character that was always a follower of StarClan back in NightClan, and competing for the affections of Flamingstar way back when. I think he'd be one of my picks for Witch/Warlock if I got the role since it'd be him finally fulfilling his goal of being a healer... but it's for a clan that doesn't believe in StarClan. I feel like with the loss of Flamingstar in NightClan he left to try and find her, and upon returning to Classic land he finds her having chosen Kotori, he realizes it's over and he lost the affections of the one he loved. I could see him wandering directionless until he winds up in WinterClan
Softpelt - (in SpringClan) (New goal for Softpelt, be on medicine staff in every mountain clan XP I'm two out of four atm XP) Softpelt would be a crazy choice as she stopped being SpringClan's MCA because she went against StarClan. Maybe she gets plucked up for her healing skills. Maybe she winds up lost in WinterClan helping something. I dunno I'm kind of game for anything.
• Open forum: I was debating if I wanted to try out or not. But I know I was getting really interested in WinterClan and I wanted to be a part of the clan staff again. As it was a ton of fun and I have good memories from when I had Crimsonrose play as a shard/frozen to Prim's leader Leatherstar. I don't know which role will work out best but I know Fierydaemon at least we're planning on her having a connection to Indigocrown in that she'll serve her and then earn her way into WinterClan that way, and I think that could be interesting to develop. And there are some characters I think could be fun to have as part of staff. Regardless, I'm excited to see where WinterClan goes from here, and I know you'll do great.
