11.06.2022 The site has been transformed into an archive. Thank you for all the memories here!
Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
[ I feel like this might be ambitious, but on my old site we would sometimes just post threads and invite others to jump in in a sort of pre-established role to help jointly develop characters that might otherwise be sort of bland. So I thought I could try that here.]
[So the premise if my character Strayspirit has just joined Fallclan and has spent most of her life as a traveler. She was born to a loner mother alongside 3 siblings of undetermined gender. 1 died at her side after she lead them into an ill-thought out quest. She at one point was in a relationship with a she-cat and a step mother for that cats kits until the she-cat passed away and when the kits were old enough Strayspirit moved on once more. I was hoping someone might jump into this thread as lost connection to Strayspirit. For example, one of those kits she left behind? Or one of her old siblings? Or even an ex-mate or just someone she met on her travels. On my other site we sort of just went with the flow of the characters and would private message to develop certain ideas further. I'm eager to explore any ideas anyone has!]
[if your not interested please just state so and we'll do a more normal rp! ]
Tail dangling from the limb she rested on Strayspirits blue eyes drifted closed as she lost herself to the brisk breeze and leaves rustling around her. Balance precarious and thoughts miles away she barley registered the cold. More focused on not falling asleep and falling from her perch. The original intent has been to leave the safety of Fallclan's camp and do some hunting. As a new member of the clan she still felt a burden to provide for them more so than perhaps those warriors who had grown up within the clans embrace. But as she had moved through the trees and let the wind cut through her thick winter coat she had instead found herself lost in old memories she had long thought lost to her.
There was something about the melancholy silence of winter that brought the worst of ones mind to the forefront. Her ears flicked as she caught the distant sound of frozen leaves crinkling under foot but she didn't bother to raise her head.

The tom ran by many names. Ezekiel first. Then Elijah. Now Edom. An unexpected kingpin in a city, sure, yet the moment he stepped into the forest, there was a vulnerability to him previously unexplored. Here, he had no power. He had no glowing influence, no crowds of cats, seeking favours from the bold. Here, he was but a kittypet with a Gucci collar, so-called lost and alone, too far from home from his usual crowds.
Here, he was in the territory of the enemy.
In a way, it was almost exciting, thrilling even, to step foot into a forest-like this, where his royal collar was but a mark of shame, where his gleaming clean coat meant nothing but pampered frills for these barbarians. The city barely knew him as anything but an icon, the forest however? The forest knew him as an enemy surely. Part of him wondered whether those he had made deals with returned to their lowly homes here. He wondered how anyone would be satisfied living in the cold, damp wilderness when a lovely stone cottage and three carefully crafted meals a day were just a standard back home.
The crackle of leaves barely bothered a cat who didn't need to hunt, as he trampled through the undergrowth without a care, until his eyes landed on another cat, one that seemed almost familiar. "So, you're still alive, aren't you?" his voice rang out, clear and sharp.
Eyes peeled half open as her head lazily turned towards the speaker, claws digging deeper into the branch reflexively before releasing so she could push herself up in to a sitting position to better peer down at the tuxedo tom below her. "Oh, if it isn't my favorite kitty-pet." She hummed, smile a little mocking holding an edge as she wondered at seeing him once more.
Often Strayspirit spent most of her interactions positive she would not run into another more than a few times. Things had changed with her joining Fallclan, now leaving her surrounded by faces she might be getting more familiar with each passing day. Still, being confronted with a cat of her past; especially one she had been sure she had left behind for good left her blood thrumming.
"I would have thought your two-legs had gotten tired of your haughty arrogance and tossed you to the curb." She observed "Or even that someone in your neighborhood would have held a successful assassination plot against you by now. Considering the circumstances in which we left each other." Their temporary alliance had been wrought with quick paced decisions and a situation that had left her slinking off into the night with clumps of her fur missing. Not having a 'castle', as he referred to his two-legs nest, to return to as he did. Despite all that she couldn't say she was upset to see him again, even if, as always, he left her feeling like she had been picked up by her nape and dragged through a bush next to him.
"Though I suppose I should pose a better question; why are you here?"

(omg i love this and i am no where close to both of your abilities in writing but i would love to join. pls tell me if you don't want them to be siblings haha)
"I had the same question." A matter-of-fact voice with steely golden eyes to match answered from behind Strayspirit. He had been observing her since the day she arrived to Fallclan. She had seemed so familiar to him, like a lost memory floating around the back of his thoughts, keeping out of site until the opportune moment. And it was this moment, that he finally realized who she was thanks to this strange kittypet and his wicked words. His suspicions were only reaffirmed when his long lost sister responded back. Subaru, having also been known by many names but this one being his primary, stepped to stand at her side. He gave Strayspirit a glance, wondering if she had also figured out their relation to one another, before refocusing his attention on Edom.
"A little far away from home, are you perhaps lost?" He cooed the last word with a short, snarky smirk.

He didn't take offence to the title he was given, only grinning larger at it. Surely, they had met once in passing, but Edom never forgot a face. There were plenty who had once desired either gifts or secrets from him; he was an entrepreneur after all, the kind to take everything and give what benefited him. There were only a few things notable about this one; she had been younger surely. She had been with that other cat, the one he couldn't remember the name of, but he did remember her mentioning kittens.
"You know, I always thought you'd be one of the cats to join us," he hummed, "weren't you practically living with the humans for a while? They fed you, if I remember, little stray. Where's that little girlfriend of yours? Did she finally dump you, or did you get bored of her? Oh, I love a little bit of gossip, you know. Keeps me feeling young." He wasn't an old cat at all, but his tall stature and bulky shoulders meant he was fully grown. "Do tell me everything, don't leave a single detail out."
When the other cat interrupted, his ear flicked in annoyance. Did these cats around here have any manners? Edom was a smooth talker but he had little tolerance for cats who spoke out of turn. "I was speaking to the lady," he snapped, eyes narrowing at Subaru as if he was nothing but a flea under his foot, "it's rather rude to interrupt, and even more rude when you've yet to introduce yourself, cat. Manners maketh a man, no?"
Sure, he was outnumbered, but it wasn't in his nature to feel fear. Arrogance was his middle name, after all.
Ears flicking back slightly she also turned her attention the tom, her new clan mate, well she supposed he wasn't so new anymore. She hadn't quite managed to meet everyone yet nor had she had any inclinations to. But as she stared at the new arrival she came the the stark realization that she was perhaps a fool. Because she knew that snarky little brat and suddenly she would rather be anywhere else for the revelation she was facing.
Taking a deep breath she dragged her eyes away from drinking him in and listening to kittypets delusions of grandeur. She had always found his attitude grating, but Lemon had enjoyed him. Why she had called him a breath of fresh air she didn't know but their situation had been rather dire at the time and Strayspirit had cared more about making sure Lemon could have a healthy litter of kits rather than who she was trying to be friendly with. He had ruled the roost though and the more her mind remembered of her time in his neighborhood the more she grew curious on why he was so far away from his throne.
Her curiosity was burning away but she felt torn in two directions. She wondered if Edom knew what happened to Lemon's kits; they had been near there when she left them. She wondered how Subi had come to be in Fallclan. But she could only truly interrogate one at a time and not while the other was around.
"Patience is a virtue." She hummed with a chiding look towards both of them.

Instead of reacting to the kittypet's snide remarks, Subaru sat down with a rather bored expression and wrapped his thin tail around his paws. It was almost as if to say, "I don't really care about what you think," without truly letting the words leave his mouth. Subi couldn't help but feel a bit of relief when the realization hit Strayspirit. It had been a long time since they had seen each other, back before he was taken to be someone's dog. He fought the familiar shudder at those memories, not wanting to show his discomfort in front of this other cat. Another part of him had wished she never figured out. There were many parts of his past, and he was sure of hers, that probably did not need to be revisited for mental sake.
At Strayspirit's words, he gave a humorous, stubborn snort and didn't budge from his spot. Curiosity kept his paws rooted right there. "It doesn't matter who I am." He responded plainly and narrowed his eyes. "Either way, Fallclan cats don't just let rude, plump kittypets like yourself stride into our territory all willy nilly you know."

He wasn't used to cats being stingy when it came to information, but he supposed it probably had something to do with being out of his territory. These cats mostly didn't know who he was, so he'd forgive them for now. Strayspirit's words made his lips turn upwards despite the chiding expression she held in her glittering eyes; he couldn't remember her ever being so tight-lipped. He was curious, more than ever, why Lemon wasn't around at all. Had they truly split? They seemed so...cuddly the last time he had met them. If they were anything like him, he'd have hunted to the ends of the earth for the girl.
That was what he was doing now, no?
He turned to the other stranger, his smile turned to an almost feral grin at that. "Does it not?" he mused, eyes glittering all the same, "FallClan, that's what they call themselves out here hm? Oh, I've heard stories about you forest brutes, I guess they're right about none of you having manners, but you're still intriguing nonetheless. If you're so against us...plump kittypets striding around, why are you letting the stray walking around...'willy nilly' as you say? Seems like a bit of a double standard if you ask me."
The tom chuckled, waving his tail dismissively. "Don't worry, I won't be here long, and I'm not here to hunt. Isn't that why you're so defensive of your territory? I'll be out of your fur soon, don't you worry your pretty little head."
Strayspirit felt a thrill of excitement at the kitty-pets daring, to call into question her own place in Fallclan so blatantly. "If you won't be here for long, then why are you here? Just passing through?" Her thoughts wandered towards her brothers seemingly fierce loyalty to Fallclan, or at-least a good play at it. He must have been here for much longer than her; it spoke towards her own self-absorption that she hadn't noticed him before. But then again she hadn't been going out of her way to try and get to know any of her new clanmates for the brief time she had been here.
And still, even referring to him as her brother in her mind felt out of place, odd. Like she was trying to replace the tom she did remember with this newer older version who might as well be a stranger for all she knew about him. Edom was more familiar to her in a sense, even if she knew him in passing moons and moons ago. "Also to address your question, I live in Fallclan now. So I'm allowed to wander around, even encouraged." She smiled. "In fact without my wandering perhaps no one would have spotted your foray into this territory."
She was truly curious what had brought him into clan territory, though she wasn't sure she put must stock in him truly not knowing where he had been. He just didn't strike her the type to wander into a groups territory without first knowing that it belonged to someone.

He chuckled, passing through was sort of correct. Perhaps a wiser, more suspicious cat would be reluctant to tell these strangers why he was truly here, but Edom didn't have that sense of self-preservation; he had never had to learn that kind of difficult lesson, and frankly, Strayspirit didn't seem the kind to lord over him with some secretive plan to tear him to pieces, and Edom was a conversationalist more than anything else.
"Let's just say I'm looking for someone," he replied smoothly with a quiet chuckle, as if almost embarrassed–though anyone who knew him knew that embarrassment was simply not in his repertoire–, "you're not the first forest cat I've met who wanted to know about the city, and I'm nothing if not...gracious with the information I provide. I do provide a service, you know, one that you can use as long as I gain something useful in return. I remember you and...Lemon, was it? You certainly made do with some of the services I provided, did you not? I had almost hoped you'd settle with a nice human or two, but I suppose not everyone's meant for the neighborhood."
He didn't intend to sound uppity but clearly, there was still an air about him. "So tell me, dearest, what about this forest attracts you to it anyway? I still don't understand any of you forest cats," he shook his head, "you might as well show me around your new home." He was already marching forward without a second thought.

Subaru rolled his eyes at the exchange, becoming a spectator in the conversation just to appease his curiosity. As soon as the other tom got up, though, he was quick on his paws and moved to block his way. "Hold on." His eyes flicked to Strayspirit with exasperation before they returned to Edom. "We can help you find whoever you're looking for. If they are even here, that is, but this isn't going to be a leisurely tour of the land. Unless you're planning on staying here as a prisoner, I would probably consider where you place your paws."
His bright yellow gaze turned back to Strayspirit for a moment. "I can see you have much to talk about, and that is fine, but I hope you know I intend on being close by. Clan-born cats may not take so kindly to him wandering about." He could only imagine the consequences if one of the Aurulents found them. Not just Edom's, but his and Strayspirit's too if they let this cat prance freely around the territory.
"I wasn't going to let him go trapezing around the territory, but thank-you for your concern." She laughed, amused by Subaru's quick actions even no one else might understand why. Her brothers words were wise all the same, though she knew Edom would not take them as such. Not used to being constrained. Turning she faced the kitty-pet and flicked her tail as she considered her answer to his words carefully.
"Lemon passed away." She finally decided on being blunt; there was no reason in dancing around it. "And perhaps we should have settled into the neighborhood, maybe she would still be alive and her kits could have had a better life. But the past isn't meant to be dwelled on and regrets are better left unacknowledged lest they grow heavier." Taking a breath she pushed the thought of her little family she had tried to settle down for away; letting them drift out of her thoughts as she let out a heavy exhale.
"Enough of that though. Subaru is right, we can try and help you find who you're looking for but we can't let you stomp all over. Already your scent being in the territory is rather damming."

Edom was surprised to hear that, at least. Lemon seemed like such a spry young cat when they had met, full of life and excitement with that sort of zest for the world that few held onto for their whole lives. He was almost saddened by it, his ears drooping a little at her words. "I'm sorry," he frowned, a look of sympathy on his face, "I didn't know. She seemed so healthy...what happened?" He knew that Strayspirit would probably want to direct that conversation elsewhere, but Edom was more curious than frightened, after all.
Still, their help made his expression brighten. Of course, he didn't want them to truly know who he was looking for, and frankly, she had stayed hidden for so long, Edom wasn't under any impression that she wanted to see him. As big as his network was and as much as he understood about this place, Chelsea had always known where to hide if she wanted to escape his field of vision.
"That would be lovely," he purred, his eyes turned to Subaru, clever and half-lidded in pleasant amusement, "to be honest I'm not even sure she stays in your territory, but it's worth looking. She's a silver cat, long fur, golden eyes...she said her family was from the forest, had a big family around here once. That's all I know."
He continued to trot on, his focus now on the tom who spoke too many words and so many questions. "So tell me, all of you cats live in a group around here, no? A...what did they call it, a clan? Or was it a league or something? A gang? I don't know what the word was, but how does that work? Do you stay within family groups? Do you have a leader? Or do you have to...fight each other for the top position? One of the cats I met mentioned that once, said it was kind of barbaric how forest cats killed each other. Is that true?"

A silver cat, long fur, golden eyes... Did that ring a bell? Honestly, he did not do a good job of observing the cats around him. That is why it took so long for him to pinpoint the familiarity in Strayspirit. The lanky tom gave a shrug. "I guess we will see. There are lots of cats in the forest, though."
Subaru's eyes widened at the onslaught of questions and he looked over at his sister again. "I guess you could say it depends on where you are. I've seen them called clans, leagues, regimes, and whatever else these cats come up with. This one is a clan, and yes we live together and hunt together. I think others are too scared to fight our leader. Hystericstar is not a cat you would want to cross." A shudder passed down Subaru's spine at the thought of someone crossing their leader. He wasn't necessarily terrifying in the bulky, tough-looking aspect, but he wouldn't doubt his abilities in poison and other means of death.
Strayspirit let the conversation continue on without her input, the mention of Lemon painful and the thoughts of her passing souring her desire for the conversation. It was a blessing when Edom continued asking his questions and the topic continued on. His words made her chuckle a little as she could remember how she had heard similar things in her travels. When she had first come to Fallclan she had been rather sure she would be killed by the patrol that found her.
Instead they had asked her business and be cordial if not a little standoffish. Looking back it was perhaps rather lucky she had not wandered into another clan and that Hystericstar seemed to care very little who joined his ranks as long as they did their jobs and didn't cause trouble. "Have you truly never met any other cats from groups before? I find that difficult to believe." She finally spoke, casting a look towards him and raising her brow.

Edom nodded, as if taking notes in a lesson rather than having a conversation. "So are they all like you?" he asked curiously, "how many of these clans are there?" While there were things he knew about the clans, real information about them were hard to come by. Not many left their ranks, and fewer would mingle with a cat like himself; everything he knew mostly came from the rogues that crossed their territories, or former members leaving for one way or another.

"I wish they were all like me." Subaru responded with a wink, growing a bit more comfortable around Edom, which also kind of irritated him... "I would say they are a mixed group of cats depending on where you go. You're fortunate that Fallclan is your first experience with a clan. I had a much different one..." He let out a sigh, remembering his time in Moonclan. That was right when they started placing social classes on the members and outsiders were hated. "There are some clans that only accept purebloods, or cats born in the clan. Some might actually kill you on the spot for trespassing and others have complicated relationships with their leaders and the other clans around them. I only know of eight or ten clans, but there are definitely more." Looking at Strayspirit, he felt the sudden relief that she came to Fallclan and not one of the others.
"He's correct, Fallclan is possibly one the most accepting of outsiders currently. I think it has much to do with Hystericstar having his prime concerns lying elsewhere." She had traveled through more than a few clans before settling on Fallclan. Many of the reasons her former wanderings stayed as just that, wanders were because the clan cats seemed more apt to pluck at her fur than let her find a place to lay her head. It also was due to at the time she had no desire to settle yet, still in mourning and trying to escape the bitter memories.
"So if this cat your looking for was not clan born it is likely they could have come to Fallclan for the simple fact it's the easiest option."

Edom hesitated, as if mulling over their words. "Perhaps," he spoke, "but she didn't have the names...you know what I mean, right? Things like Hysteric...star? She had a normal name, not one of those forest ones, but I know she used to live in a forest. I don't know whether she's returned to it but..."
He gave Strayspirit and Subaru a smile, sickeningly sweet. "She means a lot to me," he admitted, "and it'd be a shame to never get to see her again."
"If she didn't have a forest name than she might have been from Primal Instinct, Renegade Regime, or simply could have been a loner or a rouge. Unfortunately all of those leave us poorly equipped to help you, we're not very close to those territories." She chose not to mention they wouldn't get very far with their clan affiliations either.
"You going there alone would have better luck, as your chances of finding answers might be better finessed." Strayspirit delicately chose not to say manipulate or something similar despite being sure he was capable of such things.
