Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
This was it. This was the day. He was going to fly.
Normally Ghostkit was more cautious about these kinds of things, but perhaps it was all the weird berries he'd been trying every time he left camp that made his better sense of judgement fly the coop this particular day. The small black and white tom was more determined now than ever as he slowly ascended the tree, his tiny claws straining from the the effort. The smart thing to do would of been to start from the lowest branch but were was the fun in that? No, Ghostkit didn't stop until he was high enough in the tree that a fall from this height would certainly hurt. Even peering down at the world below the tom showed no fear, and even gave a slight running start before flinging himself from the branch.
Jayjack slid through the forest with his ears pricked and attentive. There was a faint scraping above that he ignored, likely a squirrel high overhead where he couldn't reach, but it caught his attention when the scraping turned into a flurry of steps. What was it running from? He craned his head back to see --
WAS THAT A KIT? JUMPING OUT OF A TREE?
The tabby aurulent sprinted to intervene, leaping to catch the kit in midair.
There were many ways this could have gone, admittedly, the most likely was for Ghostkit to hit the ground. What he wasn't excepting, or really what anyone would of anticipated in this moment was for the small tom to be intercepted like a football spiraling through the air. The sudden impact was enough to knock the air out of the kit with a strangled sound that was only cut off by the sound of his teeth clacking together.
He landed in a low crouch, remaining on his paws but not with much grace. He steadied, then gently set down the kitten, mostly glad that he hadn't bitten down while landing and cut him in half.
"Are you okay?" Jayjack eyed him, an anxious glance flicking up and down his body. "Did you faint? Are you injured? Tell me you didn't jump."
