A cold breeze ruffled Redflame's fur as she sat in the sand on the deserted beach. To her far left the sun was just now rising out of the water. How she loved coming here especially now since the cold weather had driven the twolegs away. The sound of the waves gently lapping the shore was so soothing and relaxing to her. Stretching out and laying down in the sand, she contemplated the perplexing question she had struggled with for a long time - how the sun which is made of fire can rise out of the water every morning and set in it every night but never be extinguished.
(Redflame is up for an adventure, a friendship, and/or a romance. You may choose.)
The sun's resilience was something Sunstar hoped to honor. She was a proud cat by nature, but ever since having taken SummerClan back from NightClan's oppressive hold, she was quieter, more prone to isolating herself from her clan. The boastful, bright presence she sported had been extinguished, unlike her namesake that her clanmate was admiring, and it often led her to stray away from camp, as she was now.
The newly crowned leader spent most of her new and very important leaderly time... hiding in the Lighthouse, poised to overlook the sea and the shore and all the distant expanses of the skyline, seagulls' silhouettes pasted against it. Mostly, she wasn't disturbed here, but today she spied a pelt that looked familiar and, feeling a burst of her former self revitalize within her, decided to descend down from her lonely throne. She pushed past the wilted undergrowth until she stood on the sun-stroked sands, casting a smile and wave of her tail at Redflame. "Come out to get some nice, refreshing, totally-not-salty ocean air?"

(Hope you're feeling better!)
Upon seeing her leader padding over to her, Redflame rose to her feet and dipped her head respectfully. "Good morning," she mewed. "The air here is refreshing but I came just because it's my favorite place to rest and think." Perhaps since Sunstar's a leader now she might know the answer to her perplexing question. "Tell me, do you know how the sun stays on fire even after it sets in the sea over there," she pointed with her tail to the west and rises out of the sea every morning over here?" Her eyes moved to the east. "It's something I've wondered about for a long time."

(thanks muzz! i'm doing a lot better <3 happy belated new year!!)
As Redflame poised the question, Sunstar followed her gaze across the horizon, taking a moment to consider it. She did not, in fact, know the answer but fear that admitting that might invalidate her authority somehow froze the confession on her tongue before it could be uttered. Instead, she lied right through her teeth, "Do you know how after it rains, if you lay out in the sun, it dries your fur off? The sun is far hotter than the water, even in the Southern Sea, so it never drowns while it sleeps. The water can't even touch it."

(Happy belated New Year to you too!)
Sunstar's explanation seemed to make sense to Redflame as she nodded her head thoughtfully. "It must be really hot not to be drowned," she mewed as another idea came to her. "I bet it's closer to the earth during Greenleaf because the air's warmer than it is now in Leafbare. I wonder why it doesn't stay closer to us all the time instead of going farther away and making us cold." She wasn't a big fan of Leafbare although it did have some advantages such as less twoleg activity.
