Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Chaoschalamity kicked the dirt in front of him, sending a rock flying into a near by bush. Of course he had to pick a clan that slept all day. What was he meant to do while he struggled to adjust to a nocturnal schedule? Sleep? Boring.
"You know, at that velocity, a rock could have really hurt someone if it hit them in the head," meowed a soft voice as Shallowglow padded up to him. She, too, was no more than ambivalent about the nocturnal schedule. "You oughta be careful with that."
"Who would I hurt? There's no one awake to even be in that bush." He did his best to not jump at Shallowglow's sudden appearance, almost certain she hadn't be there a moment before.
She probably hadn't; the feline had a tendency of materializing out of thin air. "Well, maybe someone had a mid morning nap... in a bush," she meowed with a shrug. "What's got you in a tizzy, anyways?"
"A tizzy..?" he gave her a strange look before shaking his head, how she said it didn't matter. "Nothing, I just have nothing better to do. What are you doing awake anyway?"
"Scientific term for 'having some sort of weird rock kicking episode'," she explained with a half-smile, before shaking her head. "Sometimes, just can't sleep during the day. Insomnia impacts between 10-30% of the population, and I happen to be one of the lucky ones." She laughed quietly, although it wasn't really a joke. "I could ask you the same? If kicking rocks is all you've got to do, why not go to bed like the rest of um?"
"Ah... yeah, that totally makes sense" he nodded as if he totally understood what she'd just said, though he stared at her as if she'd just grew a second head. Fixing his expression and shrugging off the awkwardness he smiled in turn at her question. "Well, simply put I'm just not tired and the pray isn't scurrying... So I'm kicking this rock. Unless you have a better idea..."
Shallowglow probably didn't have a better idea, and if she did, it was probably against the tom's best interests to follow it. Still, she tipped her head, as if considering deeply. "When Wickedshriek and I went on our mission, we walked by an abandoned ... two leg den of some sort. It was quite weird, but we didn't have time to stop on the hunt. Maybe we could go check it out?"
"Sure, It has to be better than... standing here..." He glanced at the bush one more time, as if he expected something might actually crawl out of it before returning his attention back to her.
"Lead the way, I don't know the territory... at all really."
"New here?" she asked, suddenly realizing that maybe approaching the tom with the same casual attitude she approached most of her clanmates was perhaps not the move. "I'm Shallowglow," she meowed, also realizing that if he was new, he probably didn't know her name. In fact, she realized, she didn't know his name. She hoped that he'd offer it to her as she took the lead, heading towards the entrance to whatever camp type thing this clan has i can't remember.
"Yeah actually, I stumbled in here like... three days ago? It's a bit different than what I was expecting but not bad. It's nice to know at least one person. I'm Chaoscalamity" he added, as he followed her out of the institute. He swore he heard someone call this place Alicante once but he wasn't sure. "How long have you been here?"
She nodded thoughtfully to him, offering a wave of her tail. "I'm surprised you've settled in so quickly." Was she supposed to be talking to someone who was so new? Was there some weird initiation ritual they needed to go through before an outsider could be made a friend? Since the City of Ash went up into smoke or whatever ian hasn't been paying attention, the lines of do-and-do-not had been blurred. "I've been here all of my life," she then responded as they walked. It would take them an additional post to get where they needed to go. "I don't know anything outside the Institute. There's gotta be a big world out there, right?"
"I wouldn't say I've settled in exactly" he pointed out. To him nothing here really made sense, he didn't have runes painted on his fur like the others, not that anyone would be able to see them on his dark fur anyway. Moving on from this line of thought because Stark has no idea how this works anymore...
"Yeah, the world outside is huge, lots to explore, but the mystery of this place is what keeps me around."
