Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
With NightClan having taken over SummerClan, Turtlesplash had fled like a true coward. Only coming slinking back after Sunstar had taken over.
But with the murmurings of her getting engaged to a cat in WinterClan, Turtlesplash had felt saddened. Saddened that she felt she needed to tie herself to WinterClan a clan that was known for its cruelty. Hardened by the cold.
He knew what such harshness could beget. He saw it whenever he saw his reflection and saw his lost eye and the scares on his face that league she cat had left him with.
Already partially feeling like he was on the outs with SummerClan he had glanced beyond the border. While he'd been hiding just outside of SummerClan's borders he'd smelled SwiftClan and he knew with that meant Chimerastar, his mentor, must be somewhere nearby.
At least so he hoped.
He'd always feared his mentor would hold him choosing to not join SwiftClan against him, which had kept Turtlesplash's paws rooted in SummerClan.
SummerClan had been nice, he'd grown fairly comfortable there though it had taken a very long time.
And he knew it was thanks to Chimerastar's initial training that had been the biggest help.
Without that start, Turtlesplash doubted he'd have ever made it.
He hadn't seen his mentor in too long, and it was time to visit.
Or at least try to, as the tom now found himself anxiously pacing a ways off from where he could smell SwiftClan very strongly, mumbling to himself.
"But what if he's super sore about me not joining right away? Or disappointed? It did take me three mentors before I could even earn my warrior name," And even then Turtlesplash half feared Ratstar had simply promoted him as he was the oldest apprentice than him being truly ready at the time.
"And this clan was super important to him and everything... and when he made that code change about cats helping other cats... I should've joined then, oh why didn't I join then?" Turtlesplash mumbled as he paced the other way.
"What if he's dead?!" Turtlesplash gasped coming to a stop, his mentor was getting up there. What if he was already dead. Turtlesplash's ears lowered and his eyes widened at the thought. "Oh StarClan I hope not! They can't take him before I have a chance to say goodbye... right?!"
And he would know... right? A death of a cat like Chimerastar would have to be noted... right? Right?!
Luckywillow yawned as he plodded on through SwiftClan's new lands. He had been a part of the clan last time they were in this Survival Clans area, but he was young enough that he barely remembered it; he'd spent more time in SummerClan, honestly, during his apprentice exchange. That felt like a lifetime ago.
He needed this time to walk and hunt and be alone. Ever since his mate passed, he had been working himself to the bone trying to look after his four little kittens, and they older they grew, the more of his energy they consumed. He loved them fiercely, but he needed time to himself too. He was going to lose his mind if he didn't have time to think and talk to other adult cats.
The cream tom looked up as he spotted someone else approaching their territory. He smelled of SummerClan, but that scarred face was totally distinctive, and he immediately recognized one of the apprenticed he'd trained alongside.
"Hey, Turtlesplash, is that you?" His ears pricked as he hurried to meet him, a friendly smile beneath his tired eyes. "Is something wrong in SummerClan?"
Turtlesplash flinched at the sound of pawsteps towards him, head snapping up, breath catching in his throat. He tensed when he saw the cat seemingly charging at him, but relaxed as he slowed down.
"Something wrong- oh well..." Turtlesplash hesitated scuffing at the ground. "Wellll... things are better there now... I think. Since they kicked out NightClan." He began slowly. "But that's not why I'm here."
"Is um... Is Chimerastar around? Er, Chimerahunt or... what did he change his name too after he stepped down?" Turtlesplash asked hesitantly tilting his head. He probably should've worked that out before coming calling.
His steps faltered a little at Turtlesplash's reaction, and he made sure his coat was smooth to his sides before he finished his approach. He had forgotten the other tom was so jumpy. He had been a shy apprentice too, but his experiences with the clan had made him more open; understandably, Turtlesplash's trauma had the opposite effect.
Luckywillow tilted his head in a silent question - NightClan? That was a story he had missed out on, too deep in his own exhaustion to trouble with other clan politics - but didn't interrupt.
"I think it's just Chim now," he told him, but there was doubt in his voice. He hadn't really asked the old leader, he seemed keen on keeping to himself during his visit. "Your timing is good. He's here now, traveled all the way here. He uh," he scuffed the ground with one paw, "well, Lovearrow went to visit him, and he needed to bring her body back... but she's buried now, and he was just getting ready to leave. If we hurry we could catch him. Why do you need to see him?"
Turtlesplash let out a breath of relief when he confirmed that Chimerastar, well Chim now, was still alive.
He blinked startled by the revelation that he came back bearing another cats body to be buried. Did he know Lovearrow? Turtlesplash wasn't sure. He knew Sliprabbit, Luckywillow, a few other apprentices that had kind of blurred in his mind due to time.
But he jumped when Luckywillow said Chim was getting ready to leave. "I need to see him." He said.
"I... I felt bad that I never joined SwiftClan after he established it." Turtlesplash admitted. "I never felt, ready for the world since." He gestured vaguely at the scarred part of his face. "But after NightClan attacked SummerClan and SummerClan allying with WinterClan.
And he could still remember the revelations of how WinterClan had treated that one litter of kits. How they'd brutalized some of them, and traumatized others. It left him ill at ease.
"I... I wanted to apologize to him, he was the cat I respected most, the cat I still see as my mentor, my hero. And I didn't go with him to join SwiftClan cause I was a coward. I wanted to check up on him, and... well I guess apologize."
Turtlesplash had also been genuinely afraid Chim might've been dead. Chim was an old tom, Turtlesplash wasn't sure how old, older than Graythorn? Graythorn had lost his hearing and retired, he was SUPER old. IF chim was older or around his age, who knew what might happen to Chim.
"But mostly to see him again, it's been a long time." He added.
"Ah," Luckywillow murmured. He didn't know what to say to that.
Luckywillow had been a coward too, in the beginning, but eventually he had stepped up. He hadn't left his clan in their time of need. He couldn't blame Turtlesplash for leaving, he didn't know enough to judge him, but he had no words of reassurance to offer either. He stepped closer, slowly, like he was approaching a caged animal, eyes wary; then he rested one paw over Turtlesplash's and gave it a comforting squeeze.
When he let him go and stepped back, he offered only a smile. "Then let's get going. The burial grounds are this way," he tossed his head over his shoulder in the right direction as he wheeled around to face it. "Are you up for a job? We need to get there before he leaves; he didn't seem eager to stick around."
