Ferventprayer eye's slowly open in the dark of the nursery, something had awoken her but she hadn't quite been able to place the sounds that she had heard. She blinked in the low light, lowering her muzzle down to her side where her newborns rested....only... In half a heart beat the queen was on her feet, fur bristled outwards in alarm. Her eyes scanned the nursery where the other queens slept, but it was far to quiet. The kits, where were all the kits?!?!? She could see the queens sleeping, but there were not kits resting beside them or playing around the nests. Panic began to set in as she lifted her muzzle to the air and let out a heart wrenching wail that was sure to awaken every cat slumbering in camp
"THE KITS ARE GONE"
At first she feared it was Littlestar. She had been afraid of her mother trying something, but even the High Priestess wouldn't steal away an entire nursery of kits. Why would she? They already belonged to SunClan after all. Ferventprayer had only agreed to even coming back to camp with her kits after littlestar saved her from a fox, and respected her choice not to have her at her kitting. She had always worried that she was going to be a terrible mother, and now three days after her kitting and they were gone. Their eyes hadn't even opened yet, how far could they wander?
Strongbelief, ever the sleeper, groggily opened his eyes at the sound of the yowl. He lifted his head just above the ground and scanned the rest of the den. "Did... did you guys hear something... I thought I did..." He yawned again and put his head to floor. "Well, maybe I heard something..." His eyes slowly closed as the warm embrace of sleep wrapped around him once again.
Fatepaw, on the other hand, nearly jumped to his feet. His brain felt like it was going at a mile a minute the instant he heard that phrase, yet there was a tiredness in his gaze as he ran from the apprentice's den. He could smell them everywhere... but they couldn't have just runaway, right? Wait, his mentor. Her kits. He dashed into the nursery and over the Valleyrose's nest, only to see it empty. "No, no, no..." Sure, he had only known the kits for a short time in days, but, with a new mother as his mentor, he spent a lot of those days around them. Jadie
The cry woke him up immediately, and by the time Fatepaw entered the nursery, the calico warrior was already standing over the best, his short legs trembling with shock. He dropped to his mate’s side and nudged her urgently, nosing into her neck and purring weak reassurances that they would find the kits.
Valleyrose answered Carnagepanic's nosing with a loving kiss to the cheek reflexively before she noticed the absence of warmth at her side. Blinking, her sunstone eyes widened then narrowed and she was on her feet, "What has happened!?"
The kit-nappers were lucky that Valleyrose had been in such a deep sleep: She was a powerful elemental that would have made it very difficult for them to break in and even harder to escape had she been able to intervene. She was well aware of this and instantly felt immense guilt that she'd let the beings most precious to her slip away from right under her nose.
Seeing Fatepaw's head peek into the nursery, she fixed him with a burning gaze, "Fatepaw. Fetch Littlestar and any Janus you can find and report the situation to them." Cleaverstardance
Tenebrousrequiem burst into the nursery after the other cats, his eyes wide as he saw Ferventprayer's empty nest. He hastily went over to Ferventprayer and checked her over, nosing over her fur to make sure she was unharmed. Then turning his head and scenting the nest, breathing deep to try and pick up any other smells beside the fading smell of their kits.
"We'll find them," He growled as he searched around Ferventprayer for any sort of clues, his thick pelt bushing out and brushing against hers. Both to reassure and also to express the fury burning in his heart. Whoever took their children would perish. racer

Ferventprayer was shaking by the time her mate came to her side, sheer panic setting in as she tore through her nest looking for clues. Something anything to help her figure out where her kits had gone. There wasn't any unusual scents to be found, it was as if the kits had just vanished... or.. her head snapped up looking at the cats had come filtering into the nursery at her scream. Had one of their own taken them? "Somethings wrong, a nursery full of kits can't just up and disappear" she whispered to her mate "You don't think...."
The queen was cut off by a shrill cry, one that she recognized instantly as her kits'. She pushed through the gathering crowd in the nursery and out into the main camp. The moon shined brightly over head, a cold wind blowing through the canyon they called home. Standing at the entrance to the maze was a single figure holding a kit by it's tail as it screamed enveloped in a thick fog "MINTKIT!!!" Ferventprayer called for her child as she began to barrel down the slope, a deep growl grumbling in her throat.
Just before she made could make impact, her attack came to a screeching halt as she recoiled. She hadn't even touched the cat in question, and now was left gasping as he fell to ground writhing. As soon as she touched the fog it was like being blasted with a bitterly cold with so strong and sharp that it cut right through her long pelt. The kind of bone chilling cold like life itself' was being taken from your body [Note anyone that touches the mist will suffer similar consequences] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Oh were you looking for this?" the figure spoke, dropping the kit onto the hard stone with a loud thud followed by it's shrill cries. The newborn didn't even have it's eyes open yet, unable to defend itself from the cat that held it hostage "I might be convinced to return it to you, if you cooperate"
He nodded and ran from the nursery. The instructions helped to clear his mind and distract him from the burning in his muscles. The slope never seemed so step or so long, but the discovery at the top was far worse. "MOM! MOM!" He barreled into the den... but nothing. His mother was gone, nowhere to be found. What?. He shivered and ran from the den and back to the nursery. "Valleyrose, she isn't here, I don't know..." Then he heard Ferventprayer's growl, and then heard her tumble away. He poked his head out from the nursery and his fur stood on end. "Valleyrose..." Jadie
Valleyrose felt as if ice had been poured down her shoulders. Without any leadership in SunClan, order would fall apart, which was the very last thing they needed at the present. Her heart rate began to pick up as true panic began to set in, but with it also came a numbing dose of adrenaline.
"Okay," She said quietly to Fatepaw as she exited the nursery and padded out into the main camp.
"MINTKIT!!!"
Her attention snapped first to Ferventprayer and then the figure holding on to her kit. A low growl raised in the back of her throat and she felt her element begin to activate although, with the flooring beneath her paws being sandstone, there was little she could do in terms of a long-ranged attack. All that really happened was the daisy she normally wore pinned above her ear excessively bloomed and began to shrivel up.
"Put the kit down," She snarled, burning sunstone eyes fixed on the figure. Valleyrose heard Ferventprayer's screaming but was so focused on the intruder that she hadn't even begun to process of react to it. First, she would save Mintkit. Then the rest of them.
Tenebrousrequiem had been a step behind Ferventprayer. And when he saw her go down he let out a roar of fury. The large tom bunched his legs and leapt trying to leap onto the figure.
Only to let out a screech as the mist hit him. He dropped to the ground trying to force himself to lash out at the cat but despite his jump he had wound up short dropping to the ground near the mewling Mintkit.
Despite all the burning rage in the tom's belly, the icy claws the mist inflicted him with dug deeper, sapping all strength and leaving nothing but freezing agony.
The only sense the tom had was not to attack but twist away from his kit, desperate to avoid accidentally crushing their child and escape the freezing agony that seared through him. racerJadie

"I already put down the kit, Hu'uslat" came the light laughter of a feminine voice. The figure moved forward delivering a firm kick to Tenerberousrequium to roll him back down the slope towards his clan-mates and away from the squirming kit "unfortunately for you, your not exactly in a position to be making demands" She took the time to groom her paw and rub a loose piece of fur back into place and she stood unphased by the wall of cats now ready to pounce upon her
"You see, Hakavtaset, even if you some how managed to make it through the mist, fight me, and take back this one kit. You would just be sentencing the other little ones to death" JadieJetclawCleaver

"Who am I? What do I want?" the feminine voice mocked in return, "could you be any more unoriginal?"
The she-cat scoffed, scooping the kit onto her paws and wrapping her tail around it "But since you asked so politely, I suppose I should give you one of the answers that you seek. To start off, you can go and fetch your paints and bring them here. ALL of them. I want to see them laid out nicely before the tunnel, like an offering. You Hu'uslat should be good at those by now" her tail flicked from one side to the other "Hurry up, your kit is getting hungry"
Capturing the kits... this deadly mist... requesting their paints... It didn't take Valleyrose long realize what this devilish she-cat was after: Domination. Take away the children, a means of escape and the culture, and you've basically got yourself a prison. SunClan camp was especially suited for such a task due to its position in a gorge with high cliff walls and only a couple exits.
"If you're talking about originality, don't you think this mist is a little uninventive?"
Valleyrose turned her head in the direction of the speaker, but she already knew the voice - Perfectstorm. The massive silver-furred tom looked downright deadly as he padded up to face off with the she-cat. He put his paw into the mist, winced, and drew it back, then slammed it back down on the grown.
"Whatever you're after, you're not going to get it. You may think you have check-mated us by stealing out kits, but that's just one battle: SunClan always wins its wars," He snarled, then, without taking his eyes off the invader, said, "Valleyrose, take Fatepaw and gather all our paint for this coward. Give her whatever she wants."
Valleyrose stood still, unmoving. It wasn't because she didn't want to follow Perfectstorm's orders. It was just that her adrenaline was starting to come down and she felt anchored to the spot.
Carnagepanic held back at his mate's side, his eyes wide as he watched the mist torture the other warriors. What was going on? His head was spinning, and he pressed close to Valleyrose. They had only just gotten their kittens, and now they were gone, stolen by strangers. He still didn't know how to feel about being a father, but he knew what he felt now: an inching, burning anger. It was unfamiliar. Carnagepanic didn't feel anger, he felt terror and fear and nerves, and he felt all that right now too, but the anger was new and it was strong.
Perfectstorm's voice roused him. He nodded swiftly at the order; when Valleyrose didn't move, Carnagepanic stepped closer and nosed her cheek. "C'mon, let's go," he murmured, his voice trembling a little. "Let's-- let's just give them what they want."
Fatepaw didn't want to yield. He didn't want to give into whoever these cats were. The tom norrowed his eyes and let out a sigh. Now was a better time than any. He focused on the cat that held Mintkit and focused. He soon felt his element kick in, and could feel energy starting to fill his muscles. He took another deep breath and felt the floodgates open a little bit wider. This cat could not threaten them alone, even if they were not near their leadership. "Don't. Touch. Them." He heard Perfectstorm's command, but did not listen. He wasn't his high priest, and he had to fight whatever these cats stood for.
Resilientbloom nodded, then gasped as Fatepaw started to activate his element. "Fatepaw no! This isn't a fight worth having!" She cried going over to her sibling from a younger litter, holding up a paw in front of him.
They could replace their paints. They couldn't replace kits.
Goldengrace grit her teeth as she came into the scene to see Ferventprayer and her mate down, their newborn kit at the paws of some shadowy cat, and Perfectstorm stuck taking charge.
Growling she turned on her heel and went towards where the paints were stored. She snatched up one from where they were kept and stomped out into the camp. She slammed it down in front of the misty cat letting the paint spill out landing on the ground, on Goldengrace's muzzle staining it red, and everything else nearly.

"Uninventive, perhaps, but effective which is more than I can say about your insults"
The she-cat in the mist sat unmoving even as the the order was given to go and fetch the paints as she had ordered "Yes be a good little Hakavtaset, and do as the big one says" there was a slight purr of delight to her voice. It was only then that Fate's element began to take effect, a cold seeping into her body. Unfortunately the cold didn't effect her the way Fatepaw intended. She still sat strong, almost as if it hadn't happened at all.
"You didn't follow orders. Tsk. tsk. I said to lay it out neatly like an offering. You wouldn't set out such a mess for that deity of yours. Where is the finesse?" JadieJetclawstardance
Valleyrose snapped out of her trance-like state at Carnagepanic's gentle prodding and nodded. No one was physically fighting, things were still peaceful, there was a way out of this, surely. Optimism was all she had in this scenario so she clung to it like she would her kits, whose absence she had not yet fully accepted, which was the only reason she was standing here at all.
"Let's---" She began when she heard Resilientbloom's yowl. Even though her apprentive's element hadn't been focused on her, she felt a draining cold settle in on her shoulders and charged after him. In just a few simple movements she had the tom on his back and her claws at his throat - sheathed, of course, but he wouldn't know that, "--- go. Let's go, Fatepaw. That's a command."
~*~
Perfectstorm stepped in front of the she-cat field of vision, blocking her view of Fatepaw, "Leave him. He's practically a kit himself. We are following your orders, so just shut up and wait."
Goldengrace didn't grace her with a response, instead dabbing a paw in the mess of the paint and smearing the red paint further onto her muzzle.
Though a retort burned on her tongue of 'Sorry, figured I'd make it obvious, wouldn't want to make it too hard for you to see what with all that black mist around your muzzle. Maybe if you turned it off, I'd give you a 'proper' offering.' But she wisely held it back, making a point to leave red paw prints like blood as she made her way to retrieve another of the paints.
If the she cat intended to take their paints she could deal with a right mess to clean up.

The she-cat in the mist paused as goldengrace began to spread the paint across the ground "Oh my what clumsy paws you paws you have. I to have clumsy paws, You really should hurry things along" the she-cat lifted one paw, the outline of her claws clearly visible as she flexed them in and out "Or I might just get impatient and use this kit's blood as paint instead and spill to much. It really doesn't matter to me which you choose. It will all be the same in the end"
