Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. Flickerpaw had been an apprentice for so long, and he honestly had kinda just... gotten used to it. He'd gotten held back again following his injuries after he got dropped by that owl that had swooped into the camp a moon ago.
But now he had a new partner, and he hoped he and Remnantpaw could get on well. He grabbed a piece of prey, having not eaten before going out earlier. He figured they could share it before heading out.
