Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
He wasn't supposed to leave camp, or even the Medicine Den for that matter, not with the extent of his injuries and the lingering effects of his drug-induced coma. That didn't stop him though. As soon as no one was watching, Rateye had snuck out of the camp to the garden, the emaciated tabby tom sitting alone among the few blossoms left in bloom before the first snowfall. Though he appeared calm and collected, the heavy rise and fall of his chest made it oblivious that he was attempting, and struggling, to catch his breath from the uphill hike. Despite the challenge, the former leader was carefully, meticulously digging the flowers up, making sure to remove the plant with roots intact, just like Poppymask had taught him to moons ago. He had been so absorbed in the task at paw that he uncharacteristically didn't notice the sound of multiple pawsteps behind him. sunlight
Rosethorn was lucky to get her sister away from her new litter long enough to take a walk, especially after the loss of Daylightkit. There had been so much loss lately, and both Orchiddrop and Rosethorn looked moons older. Moons of separation from her mate and the death of her kit had weighed on Orchiddrop's shoulders, and Rosethorn's near drowning left her a little weaker than usual.
Still, both of them perked up upon seeing Rateye up and about. "Are you allowed to be out here?" Rosethorn asked, a warm purr in her throat as she stepped up beside the former leader. She had been his deputy first, and now she was his daughter's, and she still retained all the respect and affection she'd had for him since she was younger.
The tom startled at the unexpected voice, nearly jumping out of his skin at the sudden sound - clearly, he hadn't been unaffected by the recent events, either. Glancing over the shoulder of his good eye, Ratstar - Rateye? - he wasn't really sure anymore...visibly relaxed upon seeing the two sisters walking over to him, and smiled fondly. "Nope, and neither of ya better go snitchin' t' Poppymask, ya hear?" He answered, attempting to crack a joke like he used to, but his tone fell somewhat flat and awkward. With a halfhearted chuckle, he turned away from them and went back to his work removing the flower. "I uh...I heard with happened with ya...both o' ya. You both doin' okay now?"
"Us, snitching?" Orchiddrop asked, a quiet kind of humor in her voice as she settled beside Rateye/star. "Never. We've done our fair share of sneaking out, if you recall." His question made her sapphire eyes drop to the flowers. "I've been better," she mumbled. "But I know I'll get better. Rosethorn keeps reminding me of that fact."
Rosethorn sat on his other side, looking over at her sister and adopted father figure. "I'm mostly reminding myself, too," she said, with a wry grin. "Life seems to keep hitting me over the head. But the sight of you up and about is doing wonders for my mental state, Ratstar. How are you doing? How are you feeling about... well, everything?"
