Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Mom?" Limelight poked her head around the corner of the warrior's den to smile sweetly at Dappleglacier. "Dad and I were just getting ready to go on a patrol. Did you want to come? It won't take too long, I promise."
Behind her, Emberbrand stood in the center of camp, shifting his paws from side to side. His red-and-black fur was flared against the cold. It was a bitterly cold day, his breath billowing like smoke before his muzzle, and he was impatient to get going soon. Once they started moving, he had a chance of warming up, but this was one of the times where his fur being only medium-length was becoming a burden. He did not know why their daughter had insisted on this patrol, but it better be important.

Dappledglacier was pregnant again, and she had spent the past several days nesting to get ready for the new litter. Everything had to be perfect for their arrival. She had chosen only the softest of bedding, and crafted a structured nest from sticks. Even the color of the bedding was white. White feathers and hare fur. It was nearly complete when she heard her older daughter's voice "Oh Limelight" she purred, making her way over and touching her nose to her daughter's cheek
"I would love to go and stretch my legs, but if I come along we can't stray to far from camp"
"We'll stay close and safe," Limelight assured her. She had crafted this meeting in advance, even sending Thunderpaw to walk laps around their route earlier today and ensure there were no dangerous predators or ice slicks or brambles that might get in their way. Everything needed to do perfectly; she couldn't afford any distractions that might cut their time together short.
She purred and looked over at the nest. "Well, it looks nearly done! That's great," she said, hiding nearly all of the jealousy from her voice. "I'll find you some beautiful centerpiece later, something comfortable."

"That would be wonderful" she agreed, taking her place between her daughter and mate "Well lets be off, before it gets to dark to be out"
If she was being honest with herself, this patrol was perfect timing. She was getting a little stir crazy in the nursery, and this was the perfect opportunity to be on the look out for the last few things she needed before the kits arrived. For example, she would have loved to get her paws on a few hawk feathers to really bring out the contrast between the white hare fur and the accents of warmer tones.
"It sure is cold out today! Dear Father might be transformed into an icicle before the day is out," Limelight purred as the trio trotted out of camp. Her thick fur was serving well to keep her warm, but she could see the tension beneath her father's black-and-red coat. Emberbrand said nothing: Limelight had dragged them out here for a reason, and his patience was wearing thin.
"Can you believe both my brothers have mates now?" she asked next.

"Of course. Two pure-blooded winterclan warriors with a powerful lineage. They were quite the eligible bachelors, it was just a matter of choosing whom they should settle down with" so that is what this whole thing was about. Marriage. "Phantommist has done quite well for himself in securing an engagement with the heir. She seems pleasant enough, and it will boost our family's status" She looked over to Embrand over their daughters back giving him a little wink. She could already guess where this conversation was headed
He met his mate's gaze and tilted his head, torn between amusement and understanding. Limelight had always been a demanding child, first needing a new mentor and then support once her engagement broke off. Her life wasn't going according to the perfect plan she had set out, and it frustrated her to no end -- but her frustrations turned into his irritations. Emberbrand might love his daughter, but she was a pawful to deal with.
"And there are plenty of other eligible cats in the clan," Limelight prompted. "Wintrystar's children. Reapingnight should have been mine, but we waited too long, and now he's got some... some SummerClan cat." Her muzzle wrinkled in distaste. "I need a mate. I'm tired of waiting."

"I agree" she replied, giving her daughter a smile "It is past time for you to get a mate. Did you have someone in mind?" it was best to let Limelight think that this was her idea, even though it was was also what she wanted as well. Her daughter was of age and after her engagement broke off, she had already been exploring a few other options that might prove suitable. She was curious to see whom LImelight had set her sights on.
Limelight puffed up her fur, grateful that her mother was listening, but the support was coming far too late.
"Most of the good toms are taken," she huffed. "I suppose Rowanstrike, Wolftundra, or Squidking." High status, all of them. "Deathreign, if I must." Subtlepaw had been engaged to the Knight when they were both young, and Limepaw had a little dalliance with him. She had no desire for her sister's leftovers and she didn't get along with him at all, but he was high status, that much couldn't be denied.

"Not bad choices. Have you spoken to any of them?" she questioned, largely letting Limelight take the lead of the conversation "With their staus I suppose they wont stay eligible for very long. Your father and I could arrange a few dates for you" her tail flicked her daughter's flank lightly "See which of them you wish to pursue further"
"I have not." Limelight had chosen them based on status only; there were few cats of a high enough caste to interest her. "Dates would be excellent, thank you Mother. I just need to find someone soon. Like you said, they'll be gone soon."
Emberbrand twitched his ear. "We can arrange dates, but the Knights decide who becomes mates. We'll have to convince them to make the right arrangements," he mused.

"Yes but once we know who she is more interested in, we can speak with the knights on her behalf. The knights tend to listen to the parent's wishes so long as the match is appropriate. They could always ignore our recommendations, but the pool of suitable mates is rather shallow. This would just give us a direction to work towards" she looked over to her own mate with a little smile "It seems like we have some work ahead of us"
"More work on top of giving birth and finding them all mates," he pointed out. Emberbrand didn't sound discouraged, just reflective. Wintrystar's second litter was not much older than theirs; perhaps fate would align their families this time.
Limelight pranced up to her mother and rubbed against her cheek, purring loudly. "I knew I could count on you! Oh, I'm going to make you so proud," she assured her.

"I have always been proud of you" she purred in return, letting her nose touch her daughter's cheek before looking over to Emberbrand "I can arrange dates from the nursery, but you will have to help physically set them up" she chuckled "and with all of our older children married off to cats of such high status, I don't think we will have any trouble finding matches for our newborns"
"I'll find them quiet places to meet," Emberbrand agreed. Funny how easily he had settled into this life. Once, his own arranged marriage had been a point of contention, but he had waited moons for an issue that never came; it turned out that biting his tongue and doing anything his mate asked was easy. He always thought himself proud and independent, but she was smart and he trusted her to the point he didn't even think to argue.
"As long as I get married before the newborns," Limelight huffed. "I can't imagine how humiliating that would be. They'll think something is wrong with me."
