Eclipsepaw listened to the story she had been yearning for attentively, almost standing on her tippy toes. As the story progressed her ears fell back further and further until they layer flat against her skull “and in what part of that story did she disobey Lord Borealis?” She shot back at her older brother with a glare “It wasn’t like she was married and cheated. She was in DayClan trying to help WinterClan!” She added firmly “The way I see it you didn’t do anything wrong, except for maybe loving an outsider… but even then our dad was once part of DayClan and our big brother is marrying the SummerClan leader, so…” she looked up at Sludgemilk with big eyes “You need to stand up for yourself, momma doesn’t always get it right. You could have had Mothpaw join WinterClan or went to be with him DayClan, but instead you came back on your own??” She really didn’t understand, a lot of the story going far over her head, but she did know that what her sister went through just for loving someone was wrong
Pomegranatedecay was horrified that Sludgemilk had defied her and told the tale anyways. Anger bubbled up in her and her fur stood in end. Stepping between the two youngest and her littermate, the she-cat let out a hiss. “What have you done! I explicitly said not to speak of that tale and yet you do! Do you truly not understand what no means?!” They we’re not ready yet to learn how much our family has fallen just because of your mistake. I would have told them the take when it was time, you had no reason to. Step outside!” Each word was like venom falling form her lips and before she was finished the middle daughter turned on Reapingnight. “And you!” He would feel her wrath as well, not to the same extent but enough to remember who was in charge here. Her gaze leveled on Eclipsepaw though as the young one spoke up, distracting her for a moment from punishing her brother. ”I won’t hear anything about that, Eclipsepaw. Father was already a member of the clan, a loyal one at that before mother became his mate and Reapingnight is going as a representative and link to an alliance. The situations are completely different! Our sister allowed herself to be tricked by an outside into a romance that convince she thought betray her clan and have an affair outside of WinterClan. But how can I expect own so young to understand anything about the world!” Pomegranatedecay was practically yelling now, seething and hissing most of her words. “Sludgemilk committed a crime against us and embarrassed our family. Something I expect you to never follow suit in doing. Understand your place as a daughter of the sovereign! You have duties and an image to uphold and I won’t allow you to follow down the wrong path as well. A mistake I have been attempting to fix in Sludgemilk and one I won’t allow to transpire again!”
Fury wasn’t even close to the word to describe Pomegranatedecay in that moment. She was ready to strike out physically at any of them, including young Eclipsepaw.
Ghastlykit blinked slowly at his older sister's sudden outburst of rage. She seriously has some anger management problems and maybe a bug in her brain, a quiet voice whispered in his ear and his snickered once loudly before covering his mouth with a paw. Uh-oh. That was going to get him in trouble and he had hoped to simply melt into the background for this one. He personally didn't care much who he was related to or the politics of it all. It seemed stressful and like far too much work for him.
