Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Dusky stared up at Shule, the tilted angle of distress and uncertainty closing into fear the more she neared. But at some point between one paw step and the next Shule could see the key distinctions of what made him an Eerie, set him a part from the rest. The way the color in his eyes dripped off, transforming into pools of tainted water, looking something darker, savage. The last resort of every Eerie, the ability to go dark, lose yourself, daring her to take another step, but when she did the expression faded from his face. He was nothing, but a good actor after all, but he didn't turn away, only staring up, but the look of infinite kindness refused to leave as permanently as the fear, distress, and darkness had. "I hope by the end, it's worth it to you."
With that his claws raked into Shule's chest, pressing deep puncture wounds, but nothing life threatening. The temporary paralytics setting into Shule thanks to the deep injection.
Sean's heart dropped, fear lit in his emerald eyes, as for a moment his paw simply wobbled in his vision before clearing to show Shule's blood on his paw.
"But the greatest sacrifice for all that you put me through-"
And there had been Glowstar, staring right back up at him through Dusky's eyes. Leaving him feeling small again, sunk back into the memory of holding his sister down while vile herbs were poured down her throat, punished. She deserved it, that's what his mother always said. He believed her, but he wasn't the bad guy even if she was wrong, because he wasn't the one hurting her.
By the time he pulled out of it he found his heart racing, but the two still going at it, this wouldn't happen. Dusky would give in. Or Shule would. Someone had to. He looked for something to distract himself with, asking Dusky a question he didn't even care about, garnering a correct answer.
He couldn't tell if it was Dusky's heart racing or his as Shule neared, someone give in... He could still feel the flickering traces of memory wash over the present and into the past, but it wasn't the same.
"I hope by the end, it's worth it to you."
It sent him back to what he first asked Shule, "so I need to check in, is this worth it?"
But the past kept coming, slower, these were moments imprinted in time, things that couldn't be changed starting from the distance he had with Glow now all the way to... To the last moment he could remember genuinely embracing her, when their paws were tiny. All these years later, the feeling he wouldn't admit to missing, but far too late to have it, but... He still had Dusky and this time he could say-
"No, it's not worth it," He said, softer than a lullaby as he lifted his paws off Dusky, his tail, finally lifting from the paralytic pile he had leaned it over to gather.
His shattered gaze finally meeting her eyes, "I can't..." His voice broke, but this time he managed to compose himself, "I just can't do it again..." With that Sean quickly moved, "We have to get out of here," but this time his voice sank back down. Because he wanted her, because he didn't entirely understand himself why he would lift a paw to his mate, his commander, every part of her he could ever love and if it were only her left in this world it would be more than enough. He would easily choose Shule every time, even now, but the past haunted his mind, ruled over him like a god and if his trauma ruined what he had with Shule he'd take it all out on Glow or at least he wanted someone to blame other than his broken self.

For a moment, Shule merely thought she couldn't speak in the shock of it all. Pain screamed in her chest, blood welling up at the injection sites as the Commander was utterly frozen in place. Then like a building aged with time, she found herself hitting the ground, her heartbeat pounding in her ears as she found she couldn't move, and the reality of what Sean had just done sank in to her very soul. Head pounding from where it bounced against the ground causing spots in her vision. As she struggled against the affects, her limbs barely more than twitching in response, a single word crossed her mind.
Why.
The Commander would admit she wasn't the best mate. Not by far. Nor the best mother, again, by far. But if there was one thing she'd always been certain of, it was that Sean would be at her side. Even when she'd hurt him, barely treated him like an equal, he'd always been there for her. He was the one cat who could pull her from her work and bring a genuine smile to her face most days. One of the few cats besides their kits and grandkits, who could see her loosen up from her rigid routine for them. And yet.
..And yet.
By the time Sean turned to look his mate in the eye, tears were dripping to the ground, traitorous tears of a love lost, of a future gone, of the sole thing that kept her sane even in her darkest days, though she'd never told him so, having turned on her. Betrayal, heartbreak, anger, pain lit up her crystalline gaze, the usually stoic feline losing all composure just as she had lost all use of her limbs. And for it all, there was not one ounce of regret for what she'd been about to do to Dusky.
Lex wasn't expecting to run into Sean or Dusky, let alone together.
.... Something was off, and the tom found his gaze flicking between the two, trying to put the pieces into place. "What's going on? What did you do?" He wasn't sure whether he was speaking to his son or Sean with that last question, but he got the feeling things were about to get ugly if the wrong cat spotted them, or if he held them up.
