cat name and bio: Kier (everyone: screaming) - A slight, skinny black tom with seething grey eyes. He's bony, weak, and has large fennec fox ears. All his life, he’s been underestimated and cast aside, a lackey to his perfect sister and a punching bag to his charismatic brother. His short pelt is littered with scars and he’s developed a hunched way of standing and walking, having learned making himself small and insignificant is the best way to weasel his way out of his brother’s sadistic cruelties. But none of this has left him merciful or gentle; it’s turned him slimy and toady, submissive on the surface and venomously jealous on the inside, a tinderbox waiting to ignite. Far from the injustices of his youth making him insecure, he’s a latent narcissist, believing himself above everyone around him. He hates his brother viciously and resents his sister. Though both his siblings believe him to be stupid, he’s uniquely gifted at twisting illusion and reality, rumour and misunderstanding, deception and truth - with useless claws and no fighting skill to speak of, he’s learned, quietly, that his best weapon is the words he can twist and poison. He’s a bit of a yandere and is good at gaslighting, though he perhaps believes himself to be a little cleverer than he actually is. Once he fixates his attentions on you, you’d best run. He has a nervous twitch that comes out when he’s particularly riled up or excited by his own scheming; it mainly affects his head. His voice is quiet and obsequious, often fawning, though he has a deadpan, biting sense of humour when his true self occasionally slips through the snivelling veneer. Violence and cruelty inflicted on others by others - especially the drawn-out, slow kind - send a quiver up his spine; they’re the finest foreplay, and he loves to watch. He considers everyone around him to be base and stupid, driven by some instinct he himself is above and easy to manipulate. His treatment of friends and family forms the tragedy of all their lives; they trust him, and he holds them in contempt. He can be quiet, head bowed, strategically dumbing himself down; and, mostly while alone, he can be psychopathically unhinged and acidicly jealous, at times possessing a special brand of dramatic, incendiary flair. He loves to line metaphorical dominoes up in a row and see how they fall, watching with a darting-eyed sort of reverent glee. In a word, he’s brutal precisely because he looks so submissive and harmless. He has the true makings of a killer about him. An Iago, but maybe this time he slips out into the streets of Cyprus and leaves the carnage upon the bed.


thoughts on aspenstar: i know it may seem strange for aspen to choose someone outside nightclan to succeed her, but i argue it could make perfect sense - with aspen so paranoid, and with her obsession on making nightclan powerful having descended into disillusionment with them, she seeks out someone from beyond the constraints of their upbringing and internal politics to a) help her make a last ditch effort to manipulate them into reverent disciples and perfect soldiers, and b) be loyal only to her, not to any family blood ties or prior loyalty. and with the feeling that everyone else is slipping out of her control, someone (other than phantom) who worships her might be addictive. he would be utterly subservient and devoted to aspen - on the surface. no misogynistic quips; just utter flattery, happy to walk two steps behind her or at her shoulder, backing up and agreeing with her decrees as an utter lackey. but behind the mask of sycophantic grovelling and advising, his true interests are vested in feeding her paranoia. under the pretence of protecting her reign, he nurtures her fears, and perhaps manipulates events within nightclan to push her to the brink. his devotion to her turns to feigned concern — and when starclan dethrones her, he’s only too happy to pick up the sceptre. the courtier, the harmless court jester, who stabs the queen in the back and takes the crown. just when nightclan thought they were free, another reign of terror begins.
thoughts on phantomfox: he’d see phantom as a rival for control over aspenstar: phantom cares about aspen and about her rule; kier just cares about what he can take from her. kier would hate him and be threatened by him, but also completely look down on him as a stupid, slobbering attack dog. maybe phantom sees through kier’s acts and lies and utterly distrusts him, seeing immediately what he’s trying to do; maybe he tries to warn aspen but she’s in too deep to believe him or see the truth and so dismisses him, much to phantom’s terror. kier would drop his act around phantom, just being himself and bragging about the hold he has over aspen’s crown, knowing that no matter what phantom says, he won’t be believed. of course if you have some mutual downfall plot worked out where phantom and aspen go down with the ship together, all of this can be amended! but it would be fun for them to be like, the angel and the devil (or the devil and the devil) on aspen’s shoulder, tugging her between them.
thoughts on loyal guard members: he’d have very little interest in them. he’d be polite, but it would be condescendingly fake; they’re just another hindrance in the way of getting to aspen that he’d remove the second he got the chance.
thoughts on pinesimmer:he’d probably simp for him, but maybe that’s just because i simp for him. maybe they could work together to push aspen towards the edge? either way he would like pine and think he was the only sane, reasonable person in nightclan because he’s not totally devoted to a madwoman.


previous leadership exp: as you know, i’ve previously led summerclan and implemented territorial features and ranks that are still in use today <3 i’d need little to no training.
concerns about timeline: i’ll be starting second year around the time you’re aiming to resign but that shouldn’t be an issue; maybe i’ll finally learn to time-manage, imagine that
mini plot idea you could run yourself: a witch hunt. i don’t know how much of aspen’s downfall plot you’ve worked out, but it could be so fun to have kier feed her paranoia and convince her that there are conspirators working against her in her own clan, so she orders him to carry out interrogations - and maybe even torture and public executions as warnings to any other (non-existent) traitors. of course, he then uses this to worriedly confide in other leaders that aspenstar has lost her mind and has turned on her own clan and forsaken starclan, and to then turn nightclan against her from within, by playing both sides and being on one hand the dutiful executioner, and on the other the harmless advisor caught so painfully between duty to his leader and morality.

fun fact one time when napoleon had the continental blockade against britain, the whole policy was that british ships would not be allowed to reach france. but the thing was, josephine, who loved roses so much and was creating her garden at malmaison, had her heart set on some roses from england. and so, like the soft-hearted simp he was, napoleon lifted the blockade ONLY for those few ships carrying his wife’s roses. and of course then everything went to crap but by christ if your man doesn’t halt a war to get you your flowers, dump his ass


disclaimer: if i became leader, i would likely have kier cede control to eshek/carrionstar (what a NAME!), as the final dance upon poor aspen’s grave <3 and (most of) pi would just… not know that the nightclan leader is their proxy. like she’s meant to lead nc into a gathering and instead she’s in pi like ‘i’ve never met them in my life’ some nc cat: ‘hey carrionstar’ esh: ‘who is this crazy person talking to?’
