The large tom stood before a small pool, it had rained only days ago and the earth was still taking what it needed. Only with time would it all be used. He smiled, touching his nose to the star speckled water, alone in a clearing, he felt peace for once. His ears folded back against his skull, the ripples from the motion moving in time with the soft beats of his heart. Heavy in his chest, his feet felt like they were sinking into the soft mossy earth below. He lapped some of the water up, raiging his head to look to the sky, the stars glittering with the eyes of their ancestors. While alone, he was surrounded by many it seemed.
