Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Burr.." The feline huffed as she slipped from her nest and into the camp. Tonight felt rather chilly, compared to the others. Primrosetuft shook her coat as she emerged into the camp, trying to fluff her fur against the chill. Her orange eyes slipped along the cats who had already woken for the night. They seemed to think it was rather cold this night as well, as some were even moving a bit stiffly. She sighed, ready to get her paws moving so that she could warm up. Perhaps she'd be set to go on one of the patrols. Her eyes scanned the camp for the deputy, who was usually one of the first cats awake.
"It's getting a little chilly, innit?" meowed the voice of the leader as she padded up, her gaze bright. "I suppose that means that winter's finally here." She looked a little unsettled by that. This was her first winter as leader, and she was rather unconvinced about NightClan's prospects coming into the frost. Had it really been nearly a year since she had become leader? It was strange to think about that the same time last year she was just a normal warrior, but by the middle of the winter she was leading. Time was strange. "How have you been?" she then asked, brushing her tail across her friend's side.
Primrosetuft hadn't expected to be greeted by Aspenstar, and she found herself dipping her head in a respectful greeting, despite the friendly one given by Aspenstar. "Yes... Leaf bare is always unwelcome, if you ask me." She laughed lightly at her own words, feeling Aspenstar brush her tail along her side. It was comforting, in a way. "I've been alright, simply dipping my toes in warrior duties." She murmured. By now, others her age had found mates, or had already had kits. Not Primrosetuft, she often times would prefer going out alone. One would say it may be a deep rooted fear of love, mostly because she never did know what happened to her father, or even who he was.
The leader nodded along with her. “And how are those duties treating you?” It was always hard to tell what the light furred leader was up to. It almost always seemed like she was fishing for something , but what exactly always remained unclear. Asp could easily be genuinely curious about the other cat’s life - in her moons since promotion, she had become distant to her foster sibling. Just as easily, though, she could be trying to figure out Primrosetuft’s loyalties. It was hard to tell, but either way, she kept an easy smile on her face.
"Well." She responded, almost automatically. In actuality life seemed to be a tad bit... uneventful. It was dull, the same thing seemed to be happening over and over. Wake, eat, hunt, patrol, sleep, repeat. Perhaps she needed a bit of something to spice things up? Though, it was a bit of trouble to be asking for more in a simple life... Her orange eyes flickered across Aspenstar's expression, wondering just what could be going through the leader's mind.
She gave her signature half smile, her eyes slightly more unfocused than they normally were. "I remember those days," she meowed with a nod. It had been nearly a year since she'd had days like that, where life just sort of ebbed and flowed naturally with the seasons. It was simpler back then, although even when she was younger, she strode for greatness. "Maybe we could do something exciting today? I could use a distraction from it all."
Her tufted ears flicked, and her eyes seemed to light up more than they had in so long. It was almost hard to hide her own excitement at the thought of bonding once again with Aspenstar. It had been so long, once they had started their apprentice training the two seemed to have drifted apart slowly. "I would like that." She mewed, trying not to seem too blunt about it.
Aspenstar noticed the perk that appeared in her step, and she couldn't help but let out a soft purr. Things had been heavy in NightClan for a while; it was nice to see someone look genuinely happy. And, it was nice that it was Primrose, too. Aspen felt bad that they had grown distant, but she couldn't help it. She'd become distant from most recently. "Good," she meowed, before waving her tail. "I've got some business to attend to along the northern part of the border. With Phantomfox and Sagebristle not here, having company would be nice."
A faint smile appeared on her lips. Things felt so easy with Aspenstar. They always had. Whatever relationship leader and the medicine cat had, was much different than this. It simply... flowed. "I'm ready when you are." Despite her attempt to hide her excitement, it was unmistakable. A change in her day seemed like a light in that darkness.
She nodded, before taking off into the night. They walked along in a comfortable silence for a long time until they reached the border. "We are going to pick up herbs from an old friend. His name is Salem, and he's agreed to provide me some of his two-leg's herbs to treat my... condition." She winced slightly. Ideally, she'd be able to talk to her own medicine cat about it, but she trusted her brother as far as she could throw him. She needed someone who would be a bit more gentle, and she and the old tom had grown close.
Primrosetuft wiggled her ear a little at Aspenstar's words, but fell into silence. She let it sink in between the pair for a few moments before she finally nodded. "Very well, is this the.. first time your friend has helped?" Perhaps it better that she ask outright than beat around the bush with her curiosity.
