Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It had been a time since the group had joined the league. Kate felt that she was having the hardest time adapting, despite her previous confidence in it. It seemed her brother Kier had taken up with their so-called 'mother'. It disgusted her, really. At this point, Kate basically did what she could to entirely avoid that gross leech. Was he even her brother, at this point? Then there was Mal, who was never in her line of sight. She had even began to wonder if he had disappeared entirely. Though, the little bird that flitted around speaking his name and fawning over him told her otherwise.
Then there was Kate, who did her best to be... alone. Why? Perhaps because she felt alone. At one point, she had her father. She was wrapped around his whiskers, and could get almost anything she wanted from him. Then... then they joined the league. Their lives changed, and she felt a resentment towards him. Anger, and so she secluded herself. Perhaps this was depression... Perhaps Kate was not even really herself any longer.
The calico shoved her nose under her front leg, curling deeper into her nest. The nest that smelled of all these other cats... The nest that had changed her smell as well.
Perhaps.. Kate did not take change well.

To say Harley had been distracted upon his return to the League was perhaps an understatement. Returned back to the place he started his life, the tom had plummeted into tension with himself, who he used to be against who he wanted to be. Confronted with the things that had once perturbed him, the nightmares that once haunted his gaze, Harley had become detached. Perhaps this had been why he had tried to keep them from this place so desperately. Maybe he always knew that when he returned, his world would once again broaden beyond his children, and his focus would shift.
Still, he did feel badly about it, which was why he found himself padding over to where the trainees slept. He didn't enter the space, instead simply calling in. "Kate, are you in there?" he called, his voice softer than it had been recently when they interacted. "I'd like to spend the evening with you."

Kate felt oddly far away. Far away from herself, like she had crawled into a deep pit and had buried herself inside. As if she were not even a part of herself, but rather watching from afar. The voice that broke her thoughts seemed to echo, and it took her a few moments to even understand what had been said. His voice vibrated and shattered that glass that had kept anything else from entering. Her brows furrowed as she tried to make sense of it, of the familiarity. Who..?
Father? The little suckling inside her screamed with joy, and only wanted to bury herself in his fur as she did when she were younger. He was always so warm, and the way he would curl around her made her feel as if she were indestructible. His rusty purr would echo in her ear, and she'd just wiggle even closer.
That was back then, that was before. Before Harley got so sick, before he drug them to this place where they were confronted with so many demons and whispers. Before she felt the pressure to be great, like Katie and Jynx. Before any failure resulted in laughter and quips. Before she grew a bitterness inside her, and before she suddenly had to be cold and reject her father.
However, she was a daddy's girl.
So Kate swallowed, and found herself slowly coming from the nest, of which she smelled highly of. As if she had not left in so long. Her paws felt heavy, and it was then she realized that her stomach was even grumbling. As she came from the den, her brows furrowed, being met face to face with Harley. "Daddy." She mumbled, pressing her nose into his chest, and sniffing softly. Ever so faintly, she could still smell the hay from the barn.

"Oh," he meowed, slightly surprised by his daughter's embrace. He licked her forehead gently, the most gentle thing he'd done since coming back to the place of his parents. Even when he had taken Kier out, he didn't treat him with the same gentleness. No, his time with his son was meant to ensure he was suited for life. Any coddling would jeopordize him. But Kate? He could, and would, still show affection towards her. It wouldn't make her soft.
"It's good to see you too, champ," he continued, a soft smile on his face. When he heard her stomach growl, concern flashed through his baby blue gaze. Out of all of his children, he was most confident that Kate would be successful in this world. She had what it took to survive, much more so than her brothers in the tom's eyes. But, that didn't mean he wasn't concerned about her. She might be a big powerful trainee, but she was still his little girl. "Maybe we should find a meal before we go? I'd like to show you somewhere special, but you look like you should eat."

This side of Kate would never last long. She was a strong cat, but simply in a confusing place at the moment. When he spoke, she nodded. She was famished. "Okay." With that she made her way over to the pile, her eyes scanning the prey. She set her sight on a mouse, purely thinking of when they lived in the barn. It made her mouth water and she reached in and wrapped her teeth around it. There was other prey there she could have chosen, but she was not a fan of birds much. The feathers were annoying.
Little did she know, her grandmother felt the same, and preferred mice over birds any day.
Kate was quick to finish her meal, not wishing to waste any time. As her belly grew more full, the more the color seemed to return to her eyes. She didn't speak while she ate, she simply ate. Once she was finished, she swiped her tongue along her lips and did a quick clean of her whiskers. "Let's go then." Her tone had changed, but it didn't seem to of changed back to malice like it had been when they had joined. Instead, it seemed as if she were willing to open her heart back to Harley, perhaps out of feeling alone, even.

The tom nodded, before starting to walk towards the forest. As much as he resented being home, hated the cat who he became here, the near-black of the forest was so familiar. It felt... natural, surprisingly so, after how long it had taken. They walked along in silence for a moment, the tom directing them through the weaving paths that he had grown up with. "How has training been?" he asked with a flick of his tail. It certainly wasn't the most pressing concern, but it would give them something to talk about until they got to where he wanted to show her.

As they weaved through the wood, Kate's shorter legs worked a little faster to keep pace with him. Her eyes shifted along the territory, and soon realized she'd yet been around this way of it. She wondered briefly where he were taking her, but let that slip her mind. She'd find out when they got there. "It's... been." She muttered. In actuality, she had yet to really train at all. Which.. was not good.

He looked concerned. "I knew I shouldn't have let them assign you to someone else," he meowed with a slight hiss in his voice. He had been trained by his father; it was only natural for him to believe that he should train his own kin. However, Primal Instinct had not agreed to that. "If you ever need a hand with it, please don't hesitate to ask."

Primal Instinct had many odd traditions that Kate hadn't quite figured out yet. She was a smart cat, but things were much more intricate here than they were at the little barn she had grown in for a huge portion of her life. The feline sighed slightly. "I suppose I mostly train with Mal." She admitted, but even then.. Mal had been a bit more absent in her life than she was used to. It seemed that the trio were no longer a trio. They were simply... their own.. Kate blinked at her sudden realization. Her life was more than Harley, and her two brothers, now.
Yet. Even with all the cats she was surrounded by, Kate felt alone. More alone than she ever had in her life.
Her chest hurt.
"Did we have to come here?"

He let out a sigh. "That's a loaded question," he murmured in response as he let his gaze wander away from her. It clouded slightly. "I wonder that every day," he admitted. Home did not feel like home anymore. "I thought it was what we needed to do. I wasn't going to be able to take care of you all by myself much longer. I didn't think I had other options," he admitted, his voice soft.

"We could have managed." Muttered Kate, shaking her head. "We were happy in the barn. We had plenty of food, and shelter. Me and Mal could hunt on our own, and enough for you and Kier if we had to." She mewed, shaking her head. Feeling as if things could have went much different.
