"Indigocrown" Phantommist greeted warmly, "I know it is late, but would you like to accompany me to the hot springs?"
The handsome black and white tom flashed her a charming smile, completely ignoring all the other toms gaping in disbelief in the back ground at his boldness. She was the clan's heir, and here he was asking her out on a date in front of all the other eligible bachelors. It was a bold move that she would either appreciate, or be put off by"I hear it is rather lovely on cold nights such as this, and that the stars reflect on the surface"

It seemed she had left an impression, or maybe he was just interested in her status as heir and pureblood. Whichever it was, she did not really care and the advance was welcome. It was beyond time she was married and she had been more open to any advances and courtships. Indigocrown could have allowed them to place her in a marriage but she wanted to have the agency to at least choose somebody.
"A trip to the springs sounds nice." She returned his charming smile with a much duller one, but it was a try. Charm was not her specialty and smiling wasn't either. Either away she wanted to show her appreciation somehow. The heir stood and swept her tail up in the air. "Shall we?" She offered, taking the first step forward. She was not one to wait and follow.

"We shall" he agreed, taking up the vacant position by her side. Their pelts were nearly brushing but not quite close enough. He held his head high as the two of them exited camp looking more and more like a proper couple. On their previous date he had decided that this relationship was worth pursuing, even if it wasn't the epic heart-wrenching romance that he craved. Indigocrown had the looks, status, and power that made her a suitable candidate, and if things didn't work out between them they could always pursue a divorce after their first litter of kits were born.
The walk to the hot springs was rather uneventful, the warmth of the cave quite the welcome contrast to the cold winter winds and snow outside. Steam rose from the inviting waters, making even the cave around them warm "So are you a wade in, or a jump in head first kind of gal?" he asked playfully

She liked the way he walked, he held his head up proud for the world to see. The tan and black grizzled she-cat hope she wouldn't be too awkward, it was well known that she wasn't much of a social butterfly. The hot springs was one of her favorite places, warm and inviting with the occassional two-legged beast. When she was an apprentice she used to search the edge for beautiful rough stones. She still has a few neatly lined up in her den too.
Without a response, she peered into the edge and then jumped in, careful to keep her head above water. She doubled back to look at him with a playful glint in her eyes, "it's so much more satisfying to dive in all at once, wouldn't you say?"

Phantommist, looked to Indigocrown for an answer but she had already begun her leap. Before he could move, the water had splashed up onto his pelt. Some cats might have been angry, but the black and white tom found this all to amusing. He didn't hesitate to jump right in beside of her, disappearing below the surface for a few moments, before rising up to take in a deep breath with a mischievous look in his eyes "I fully agree"
He paddled over closer, until he was hovering right before the she-cat "Based on that answer I do hope you won't find this to sudden, but..." he lifted a paw above the surface holding a deep blue crystal that he had hid under the water ahead of time "Indigocrown, would you do me the honor of becoming my fiancé'?" it was a rather bold move, the picture of self confidence

He was certainly a bold tom and she liked that. Clearly he could see the advantage that matching together would have for him and he didn't want to miss the opportunity. She eyed the crystal curiously for moment and smiled, "I would gladly do you that honor," She joked. If she were a more lighthearted cat she may have even laughed. The soaked she-cat leaned forward and touched her nose softly to the tom's shoulder as a kind gesture.
"I have to admit I've been wondering how you managed to hide such a beautiful crystal all this way."

Phantommist didn't try to hide his grin, as she accepted his proposal "I will do my best to live up to your expectations" he purred, placing the stone gently on the side of the pool so that they wouldn't have to leave the warm waters. He touched his nose to her cheek lightly before giving her a bit of space "Its a game me and my siblings used to play as apprentices" he dove under the water for a moment, before repapering with a rather large rock in his jaws and sat it beside the stone "When you wanted to hide something that was yours you had to get creative. Most objects don't sink but can be made to with enough weight. To find it later, you just have to find the stone"

Somehow, Indigocrown found that quite impressive and it further set into stone the satisfaction with her choice. It was a strange thing to cement the choice, but oh well. "Clever. Let's see who's the better swimmer, shall we?" Indigocrown loved a good competition and a bubble of playfulness rose up within her. She used a front paw to splash a bit of water at him and then swam away, glancing behind her as if daring him to give chase.

Phantommist laughed, launching himself after his playful new fiance. Using his back legs to push off the stone ledge to give him a boost in speed and send water flying into the air. The water parted around him as he powered through it to catch up to indigocrown "When I catch you, I'll take what you owe me" he teased misheviously

"Ah, but the key is you have to catch me first," maybe she'd let him catch her for the fun of it. Then again, that wasn't really the she-cat's style. She felt young again in that moment as he chased her through the water and she swam ahead with powerful legs. For a moment, it was nice to just forget the world and find a moment of fun in all the grim. "What a slow poke you are!" She called out, curious how he would react.

Phantommist wasted no time in his pursuit, not the kind of cat to turn down this sort of challenge "Perhaps I am being slow on purpose, mmm?" he chuckled staying close behind she she-cat as she paddled through the water "After all we just got engaged, and I can't win every time" the black and white time surger forward, this time letting his weight fall on her back, and used his paws and the water to twirl himself in front of her path

She studied him as he caught her for a moment, a soft low chuckle escaping, "A smart husband you'll be, I think," She splashed a little water at him and used a rock jetting up from the bottom to propel herself backwards. She always believed in movement, continuous motion. If you stopped in life, you died. Maybe not in the physical sense but enough and she had learned that over the past couple of years. Indigocrown was tired of being dead and there was more in life that she wanted. Wintrystar naming her heir had forced her to begin to realize it and this union was one way of stepping forward towards what she wanted. A life, a family. It was not something she had ever desired before but things in her life were changing. She was changing. It was a little terrifying.
"You know, I have never seen a fish in these waters. I wonder if it's too warm for them. Want to go catch a couple?" Her stomach gurgled loudly to reinforce the statement. A swim and some dinner would be a nice outing, "assuming you have no more incredible surprises hidden in your fur?"
