Everything had been prepared. Both the surgery nest and recovery had been set up for what was to follow, the herbs and supplies that she would need laid out neatly around the surgery bed, a carefully prepared tonic waiting on the patient to take. She had tried to prepare for every possibility, but it was the first time she would attempt something quite as complicated as this. Dragonpaw had been told about the risks and benefits of proceeding with the surgery. The young cat's life was hanging in the balance, and death was an all to real possibility
"If you wish to change your mind, now is the time" Littlestar looked to the young cat, while the awaited the other Janus to arrive. She would need the extra sets of paws, and it would be a good learning experience for all of them "Once you take the tonic, you will fall asleep while we complete the procedure"

DRAGONPAW Dragonpaw took a deep breath. Normally the she-cat was filled with courage, but she shook slightly with the nerves. She had gotten her bad paw stuck in one of those absimal traps and that paw had been rendered completely useless. Unless she wanted to be nest bound or in extreme pain forever, she had no choice but to go through with the amputation. Littlestar was very informative and that gave her a bit more confidence in the procedure and the cat performing it.
"My mind is set, I would like to go through with it. Just try not to kill me, okay?" She joked with a chuckle. There was no one eagerly awaiting the cat to wake up, but that didn't mean she wanted to sleep forever either.
LACELILY She had taken a mental inventory of all the supplies and practically hung on Littlestar's every word as they prepared for the procedure. It was risky and unprecedented, at least for Littlestar. That was part of what made it so exciting and the silver janus looked on with interest. She was there to observe and assist when necessary as the least experienced member. As time went on and she grew older, Lacelily found herself becoming more knowledgeable and confident in that knowledge, however.

The silver she-cat nodded, flicking an ear towards Lacelilly as she entered into one of the unused back dens of the Janus camp. Here they wouldn't be disturbed, and could focus on the task at paw "I will do my best" she agreed, "You shouldn't feel any pain, but remember that you will be restrained while we remove your injured limb. The tonic should allow you to sleep through it, but there is a possibility that you might awaken during the surgery. Don't panic, we will put you back to sleep once more. It will be more frightening than painful" she motioned for the young cat to lay down on the surgery nest "While we wait, I am going to wash your leg with water. We want to keep the area clean to cut down on any potential infections" she turned her head to Lacelilly "Would you like to help?" she picked up some of the water soaked moss, gently dabbing it onto the leg starting at the top where it was healthiest and moving downwards slowly

Nodding, she took another calming breath. Oh man that sounded scary but she needed to trust these cats she barely knew. "Okay, just like knock me out if you need to I don't want to be awake for any of this,"
Her ears perked at Littlestar's words and she moved over to the Priestess' side with a nod, "Yes I would love to help." She made sure to disinfect her own paws before waiting for Littlestar's instructions. "Are we taking the whole leg?" She asked curiously. Lacelily only knew what had been described to her so far for a procedure like this one.

"Most of it" she replied eyes still focused on the limb "Pour the water down her limb, start at the shoulder so that the dirty water will flow downwards" the worst of the dirt had already been removed with the moss, but the water would wash away whatever remained behind. The smaller pieces difficult to perceive with just one's eyes "We don't want any lingering infection or dead tissues being washed towards what healthy tissue is left"
Putting down the moss, she looked to Lacelilly and traced a place on the leg "This is where the healthy tissue begins. We will need to cut the bone a little higher than this, so that there is enough healthy tissue to fold over the end and create a cushion. If we leave it to long it will be uncomfortable for her, and likely to catch on things" most of this was going to be guess work, but she had thought about what needed to be done for many days and consulted several other healers.

She followed Littlestar's instructions carefully, washing the dirt away methodically. "Okay, that makes sense." She couldn't help but admit this was exciting. Lacelily really enjoyed learning about healing and this was an exceptionally difficult procedure. "You're under the best care, don't be too nervous," she gave Dragonpaw a comforting smile. She glanced around for the other Janus to see if they had arrived yet.
Dragonpaw smiled at the gesture and laid her head down to rest and wait for everything to begin.

"Im going to start by wrapping these vines around you other paws and pulling them tight, when I'm done I want you to struggle against them a bit to make sure that they hold. Since we will be working with nerves, it might cause your body to jerk while you are asleep" the silver she-cat lowered her muzzle and began pulling the vines taunt around her three good limbs, one around her chest, and another around her neck like a collar "Go ahead and give it a good wiggle" she chuckled before taking a step backwards
Soaringlight was a strong-willed she-cat with an equally strong stomach, but, to be blunt, she did not want to be here. She picked up on healing better than most but drew the line when it came to more advanced procedures. Last time she came anywhere close to one was when Troublemaker had pierced his paws with glass shards which was much less intrusive than an amputation and still killed him.
But whatever, she was there, ready and watching. She was sure she wasn't special in her feeling of unease.
