It felt strange, being back under the light of the stars shining up above. It should have been comforting, but having the ancestors who had turned their back on him so tantalizing close was the equivalent of placing heart's greatest desire just out of reach. The moment he stepped over the border, regret began eating away at his subconscious and now standing before his old den it was near all consuming. Pushing the feelings away, he pushed his way inside, golden eyes taking in the sight before him

Pinesimmer was organizing his herbs. Taking from SummerClan meant needing to organize here... and besides, he had better herbs here to keep his now eye-less socket from getting infected. He was just finishing reapplying the bandages when the scent of someone he didn't recognize filled his nose. "And here I thought my sister had some semblance of security, not that I expected anything else when she picks her guard more based on looks than skills." Things were most definitely strewn about, but not so much because Pinesimmer wanted it messy, rather that he hadn't been around. Y'know, focused on his SummerClan vacay and all. "Are you dying? No? Then why are you here?" Of course, he didn't actually CHECK to see if the newcomer was dying or not, but based on the lack of shrieking in pain, he presumed it was fine.

The den was a disaster... With all the herbs strewn haphazardly he could hardly even take a step into the place without risking some of the delicate leaves "Aspenstar said you were a pathetic medicine cat, but I can't say I was expecting this level of stupidity" He stepped further inside, paws carefully placed to avoid the scattered mess upon the floor. Luckily his paws was small, and navigating such a course was kit's play "Congratulations on exceeding my expectations. It will be both the first and last time you ever hear me say those words"
The hairless cat lifted one of the dried herbs upwards to examine it, before placing it back onto the ground with a tsk "As to why I am here, you have been deemed unreliable by your leader and I have been brought in to bring order to your chaos. You may start by cleaning up this disaster before some young deviant some tromping in here and destroying the herbs you have gathered"
"I wouldn't listen to closely to anything my sister has to say. She did get herself killed by a pregnant cat, I think the drowning washed out her remaining brain cells. Not to mention refusing to see me when she gets injured or tell me anything a medicine cat should know." He swirled his paw next to his ear casually. "I'd say thanks but no thanks, but I never wanted you hear to begin with, so get out before I give my sister a real reason to execute me. If you're so concerned about the mess, go blame the person who caused it, not me when Aspenstar had me shipped off to SummerClan so my stores have been left to imbeciles. But let me guess, she conveniently forgets to mention the context behind everything, hmm? Typical." Pinesimmer picked up a deathberry hidden away in a corner, safely out of reach of the kits. Casually, he threw it towards the former medicine cat, surprisingly managing to bonk Turbulentsea on the nose with it before it fell to the ground and rolled into his paws.

"Last time I checked, managing the herb stores was the job of the medicine cat not the leader" he replied rather unconcerned by the threats of death and violence, he was already a dead cat walking "You can make up all the excuses you want but at the end of the day this mess is still your responsibility" he had little sympathy about the details surrounding the current situation, only that it needed to be corrected "You should have picked someone more competent to deal with this in your absence, or at the very least gave them better supervision" he extended a paw out flicking the berry right back at the medicine cat
"It is a rather simple concept, but perhaps my words are to difficult for you to comprehend. Let me try again, a little slower this time" his lips turned upwards in a slight smirk "Clean - up - your - den"
"Too bad StarClan picked out my apprentice, not me. And we know how good their track record is." Pinesimmer quipped. "Screw off. If you're just gonna be kissing Aspen's tail this entire time, I don't particularly wanna deal with the stench you'll bring in here, so do us both a favor and save your breath and my hearing."

"Ha, you think I intend on kissing up to that mouse-brain?" Turbulentsea scoffed, picking up one of the leaves and throwing it to splat across the medicine cat's face
"I came here to find answers, nothing more, nothing less" his eyes were narrowed, the tip of his tail twitching "Once I find them, I will be on my way. Until then, you will just have to put on your big boy whiskers and deal with my presence" The black and white tom, snatched the leaf as it fell from Pinesimmer's face and began to make a neat pile "You can sit around here complain', or you can get off that lazy behind of yours and do something useful. The faster this den gets in order, the quicker you will be rid of me. The cost of coming back here was offering my healing services, and I won't have you tarnishing the quality of my work with such a fifthly work environment"
Aspenstar found herself padding into the medicine cats den, letting out a sigh. Of course, the one time Pinesimmer was in his den, Turbulentsea came back for the first time. She couldn't have her brother scare him off, so as soon as she'd been informed of Turbulentsea's arrival, she hurriedly made her way across the camp.
"I see you've met Pinesimmer," she meowed, immediately making her presence known. She touched Turbulentsea's shoulder with her tail. "I appreciate you coming, Turbulentsea. Please.... ignore him as much as possible. It's the only way to not get a migraine any time you interact with him," she meowed with a soft chuckle, her gaze moving quickly between the current and former medicine cats.

"Ignore him, hardly" his head whipped around to meet the leader's gaze "At least that explains how this mess came to be. Do you not hold your clan to any sort of standard? You can't even walk into this den without stepping on one herb or another, it is a disgrace, and one that Pinesimmer should be made to correct instead of being ignored" organization was such a basic skill, so there was little wonder in his mind as to why the leader worried about their current medicine cat "When leaf-bare hits and your cats are dying, I will not hesitate to remind you of all the herbs that were destroyed because of your negligence"

"Aspenstar, standards? Hardly. She picked her staff by who wanted to have her kits the most, and she can't even deny that." He yawned, waving his paw at his sister in a way that was probably more aggravating than anything else. "Oh, and before you say you let me become medicine cat, Asp, we all know how much you like me, it doesn't add to your credibility, though I'm flattered if you consider me a good choice. We'd agree on something for once if that you did, but considering you welcomed this elder who isn't even fit to be a fur rug, I somehow doubt your belief in me."
He would have said more... but a familiar face peeked itself into the den, one that was most definitely not invited, but had maybe lied to get her way back onto the territory without execution. Hopefully Turbulentsea didn't mind his former apprentice claiming she was with him and wanted to talk with Aspenstar. "I see you've met my former apprentice. You all look like you're getting along... swimmingly." Ahava had almost spoken without considering the implication of the word, but despite the pause, she evidently decided it was worth potential execution, and she couldn't help the smile twitching at the corners of her mouth.
"Find a new joke, that one's old," she murmured to her brother, her head shaking in disappointment. If he was going to peacock in front of the company, at least he could do it well. "If I had any belief in you, I wouldn't have invited Turbulentsea back. Wow, for the first time in your life, I think you're actually right about something."
At the sound of the new voice, Aspenstar had to let out a deep sigh. There was a beach somewhere that she could be sunbathing on, yet here she was, now surrounded by medicine cats, two not probably the most fond of her. She turned her gaze to Ahava, raising her eyebrow. "I was expecting that you'd come alone, but since I see you haven't," she meowed to Turbulentsea, although not looking at him as she spoke, "I suppose I should welcome you back, Ahava."

"Welcome?" The half blind former healer mused, stepping further into the den. The tall she-cat didn't seem altogether bothered by Aspenstar or anything she might say or do, though Pinesimmer was clearly eyeing his teacher with some sort of emotion. Perhaps fear, perhaps respect, or a mix of the two. Either way, the healer actually did give her a small nod of his head. "I see Pinesimmer has worn you down then, considering how you felt when you kicked me out. Did you miss me? It seems like you both may have, since you seem to have fashioned your faces to match mine." She considered. All of them had a blind eye now, which was almost funny, actually.

"Ahava" Turbulentsea turned his head to his former apprentice, he hadn't heard from her since the day he left NightClan behind. By then she had been fully trained, but it seemed a lot had happened since his departure. He had assumed she had passed on the responsibility and left "Its seems the four of us all have some catching up to do" He had in fact not brought along his former apprentice, but he wouldn't deny that it pleased him to have her by his side. Despite their differences, she was a familiar face in a sea of strangers
Aspenstar's whiskers twitched at her former medicine cat's words, fighting the urge to narrow her eyes. "Let's just say time can... soften old wounds," she mused with an absent wave of her tail. "As for the eye, it really is charming that we all match, isn't it?" A soft laughter rippled in her purr, before she settled into a seated position. "I suppose you're right," she meowed, before nodding to them all to do the same. The den felt slightly crowded with all of the bodies, but she tried to ignore it. "I assume that because you're actually here, Turbulentsea, you have decided to try to stay with us for a while to help us while Pinesimmer's attention is divided." Her tail flicked back and forth. "I suppose since you're here, Ahava, the invitation extends to you as well, so long as you keep your... rumors to yourself."
"Don't tell me anything you don't want to risk getting out then, I suppose. I find it far too fun watching the drama to stop if I get bored enough." Ahava shrugged. At least she was honest that Aspenstar most definitely couldn't trust her to keep a secret. "I'll either keep these two from killing each other long enough to get things done, or you'll see me stoking the flames and we can watch them battle to the death together. Win-win for both of us either way."
