Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
[This is a border patrol lead by Soaringlight, along the southern border. Recently SunClan cats have been falling into traps, becoming injured or killed. This patrol has been sent out to search for traps, signs of intruders, or anything suspicious. Each of the patrols WILL come across something important for the plot, so feel free to have your characters jump in on one of the patrols]
Joypaw ran ahead of the other cats on the patrol, her light-hearted giggles filling the air as her tail flicked Soaringlight on the nose "Oh don't look so serious all the time Soaringlight. Momma says if you frown to much your face will get stuck like that" she skidded to a stop by a patch of brightly colored cactus blooms, sniffing of the delicate pink petals with a big grin on her face. She knew they were supposed to be looking for traps, but if they adults hadn't been able to see them how s she expected to find them? In her mind it was better to not live in fear. If they found a trap then they found a trap. It was that simple Jadie
"This is just the way my face is..." Soaringlight sigh as she trailed behind Joypaw. She'd inherited her grandmother Shule's RBF and was honestly used to comments like the one the apprentice had made, but it was hard not to be annoyed by it, "... Anyway, Joypaw, do not go too far ahead. The last time I saw a cat rush ahead while patrolling he fell into a trap and lost his life. It's best to proceed slowly and with caution. Do you understand?"

"No, I don't understand" the young apprentice replied, her nose crinkling up at Soaringlight's comment "How can your face just be that way?" she trotted back over, leaning in close and examining the Priestess Promised's face "Oh... Oh I am so sorry" she apologized "I didn't mean to bring back any bad memories for you. You must be one of those kits that frowned all the time and got stuck. I won't bring it up again" she cheerfully bound away, completely missing the older cat's entire point of staying close, being to distracted by her own thoughts
Soaringlight met Joypaw's face with an unwavering, frigid cold glare. She was a cat who deeply valued respect and being so outwardly insulted like this did not bode well for the entire patrol,
"Keep your eyes ahead of you, Cadet," She said icily, slipping back to terminology used in her birthplace, "And stay focused on the task at paw."

Dark or Midnightcurrent, already unintentionally subjected himself to the horrors of some of these traps, and the gruesome nature that could befall any one of them. That poor she-cat, what was it - Butterscotchdrop? drip? Kinda hard to remember the details when he was simultaneously locking it away in the memory vault's furthest, deepest void to be forgotten. Kithood trauma got him all messed up in wishing he never had to see such unpleasantries and well, two traumas in - might all well make it a third and get desensitized enough to be of some use in the next misfortune. The duality of men.
Joypaw's giggling and carelessness had him silently placing bets on it being her to 'find' a trap in deja vu vibes to Butterscotchdrip, but really his focus was finding out more about these traps, not even the 'clan cats' had an answer to that. As crazy as it might of sound, he would rather be on the search team than off doing something else and finding a trap the hard way, plus he didn't know these cats and if he could trust their skills at finding one. He assumed their territory life was cushiony and easy to let your guard down when you walked the same path home for moons without a trap and bad habits leads to accidents. While he didn't consider himself much of a tracker or anything special, there was no love lost in ignoring those around him for the mission at hand as he wasn't quite invested in their well being just yet. That said...
/ "last time I saw a cat rush ahead while patrolling he fell into a trap" / "You saw a trap before as well? What did that one look like?" the tom's ears tuned in at the first sound of useful information, he hadn't gotten the chance to talk about the traps with other cats, or rather if there was different traps as he suspected. Part of it was just being anti-social but also some of his off-putting attitude.

"Yeah, Yeah, but my name is Joypaw, NOT cadet!" she young apprentice rolled her eyes, before lowering her muzzle to sniff at a rock. It smelled a little funky, but after inspecting it found it to be some sort of animal scent "I don't even know what we are looking for. Trap is a rather vague term" she trotted back over, forcing herself between the two older cats while purring "When me and my siblings used to play, we would make traps for each other. One time Fatepaw covered momma in paint by jumping off of a ledge onto her back!" Joypaw was giggling away with her nearly endless chatter "Momma wasn't mad about that trap though, so I don't know why these worry her so much"
"This trap was a hole filled with glass. As a former rogue, I'm sure you are familiar with the twoleg substance, although we weren't when we came across it. Troublemaker treaded across its shards and got them stuck so deep in his paws that he bled out. It was awful..."
Soaringlight's eyes didn't leave Joypaw all the while as she spoke to Dark in a conversational, quiet tone. It was the tone adults would use to speak about serious matters when children were present. We she spoke next she raised her voice, this time her comments directed at Joypaw, "You're right, you're not a cadet, if you were you would be much more well-behaved. Stop running ahead and start paying attention."
The Priestess Promised padded up to the rock Joypaw had found and gave it a good sniff, then flipped it over. She didn't recognize the scent right away and wanted to rule it out real quick as a potential hazard.

Joypaw huffed "Worry wart",
Before turning to Dark, she didn't really know the initiate very well. He was part of the group that came into SunClan with Yarepawn. She had heard her mother talking about them a couple of times, and most of it wasn't very good. He seemed cool enough though, like the type of toms that you hear about in the stories. The ones that act all tough and mysterious, but are big softies under all of it "Since miss bossy over there doesn't want me exploring, tell me more about yourself!! What was life outside of SunClan like?" she purred, but she was staying a bit closer than before which was hopefully enough to satisfy the Priestess Promised

( sorry for the wait even i didnt think i'd be so busy)
"Holes filled with dangerous substances seems to be their favorite method so far," he commented thinking about the similiarties and recalling where they found the other trap - was there any clue or reasoning to why they chose that place? "I can't think of anything that could narrow this down..." he hardly knew the territory and if the places had any significant meaning or the local unspoken knowledge of if they were just 'hang out' places or known socializing spots, or places where objectives would get done be it for marking territory or knowing hunting/sparring grounds. That logic would at least give reason that it was chosen for the guarantee someone would come across the traps and give them something to go off of but... He was out of his depth here.
"What I really want to know is how the dead could they move all that glass? You can't even touch that stuff without it slicing a paw open - and I guessing no one's caught anyone red-handed - ...literally." was that a joke? Dark was too deadpan to tell but dark humor did seem like it could be his thing.

"In my research, I learned that glass usually starts out as one piece and when it is one piece it's soft and round. But it's easily shattered and broken. One it's in all those pieces there's no way to put them back together or even clear them up properly - it's best to bury them."
Soaringlight replied to Dark, tuning about Joypaw for the most part. It was remarkable to her that the Initiate was taking this mission more seriously than a proper Clan-born. SunClan cats would forever be a mystery to her.
"What we are facing... well, I don't know if we can even say it has paws. But I've said too much already," The Priestess Promised dropped the rock she was holding and padded forward in the direction Joypaw was, "Let's keep moving."
