Enigmaheart had completely forgotten about his first attempt at fermented berries that was hidden... somewhere. He knew it was just off MoonClan territory for safe keeping and finally found the spot under a tree's uncovered root it just needed a little bit of digging and voila! He pulled out the bundle that seemed damp, the dew condensed around it smelled funny and he wondered if those 'funny mushrooms' he chose to include had anything to do with it. He didn't take the claim about them very seriously, he just thought mushroom were like twoleg popcorn without that shell pieces that just stuck in your gums.
As a test he open it and took a small bite, eating just two of the mixed berries that smelled like they were on edge of going rancid. It must have been the perfect timing to try them, little did he know someone else also had perfect timing, and a pack of somethings were spread out nearby and awfully hungry this dead of night.
Yarepawn had rejoined SunClan since she and Enigmaheart had last crossed paths. Her scent now reflected her Clan and she was wearing the standard elaborate body paint of any proper follower on the Sun God. At the present she'd climbed to a low branch of a nearby tree and was lounging but, upon seeing Enigmaheart reveal his bounty, her curiosity got the best of her and she decided to further investigate.
"My mother used to keep berries like this, but they never looked or smelled like that."

"My snacky snacks, and no, you can't have them" the tom answered the voice without hesitation or shame, as he turned and looked up to find it's owner, it sounded somehow irritable and awfully familiar-... "Oh, it's you" he clicked his tongue and narrowed his eyes at her but didn't make any effort to otherwise move and just popped another berry in his mouth to eat. This was his free time after all, nor was he required to chase her off here so why should he change his plans?
"Ayo, did you get uglier?" he teasing was a bit a rude, and his tone was dry of humor just for her though, that he could do. He thought he recognize some SunClan nonsense scrawled on her but from a distance or just his perspective he really didn't care for it. "And that's cause these aren't yo mommy's spiked berries" he finally addressed what she had said.
"Snacky snacks," Yarepawn echoed with a sort of taunting laugh. She hadn't expected such an otherwise stern tom to use such an endearing term for rotten berries, but all it really did was make her even more curious. Effortlessly the dilute calico she-cat leapt down from her branch, curling her front paws inward to do a front-facing somersault toward Enigmaheart before coming to a halt not even a tail-length away from him. She then reached out toward his bounty and snagged one with a very sharp claw and drug it closer for further investigation.
"Spiked berries, huh?," Yarepawn had to admit that these berries had an unusual scent and composition. It reminded her both of fresh-kill and crowfood at the same time, but with a much more mouth-watering aroma than the later, "What are you supposed to do with them? Eat them? Paint them on your pelt?"

Enigmaheart made a point not to look at her and miss the fancifulness of her somersault, only glancing at her out of the side of his eye when she landed if only to asset the distance - ready to defend himself if it turned out she had woken up and choose violence today. In the moment he turned away to otherwise forget her existence she swiped something and he only glare Yarepawn and pawed the edge of the bundling leaf he used to attempt to cover the rest.
"Well, you could at least ask to try one fox-face," the tom first remarked on her stealing nature, "and yeah, sure do paint them all over pelt, it would only be an improvement at this point." he smirked with a small, patronizing laugh. Pawing the other edge of the leaf up, he bit both ends to pick up the bundle and carry it in his jaws. "In fahct, havve anwother one, fon feh house" he mumbled through the pack and kicked an extra berry to roll over to her. The idea of her actually smearing more muck on herself was hilarious enough to him to spare it in the name of good humor, or even for the chance of it; he didn't get to prank outsiders often, especially a SunClan cat.
"Yeah, I know, I look a lot like my mom. Especially in the eyes," Yarepawn responded to the fox-face insult. She knew what it really meant, of course, but she always liked to turn insults into compliments when she had the chance, "She's quite the beauty so thank-you. Oh, and thank you again for this snacky snack."
The calico she-cat took the berry and drew a simple pattern with it on the white patch next her right shoulder. The pattern was a reference to an eclipsed sun surrounded with swirly rays of dark light. It was small and a bit patchy, but deep purply red with a fragrant aroma.
"What do you think? I mean, the base needs some work, but this could totally be a very popular dye. You'll have to tell me how you made the berries so plump and moist," Yarepawn then took what was left of her treat and ate it, "Oh, and it tastes good too. Can I have another?"

"If shee's a beuwteey, the apphale fhalls far fhom feh free" (if shes a beauty the apple fars far from the tree) He just had to refuse to ever pay a SunClan cat a compliment, let alone her. He could only have some pride in the fact she was actually rubbing the funny smell on to her pelt. Maybe he'd walk slow and accidentally drop a few for her to us to 'touch up' her pelt or even better - take them back to others in her clan. How glorious that would be if MoonClan could start one of the greatest pranks even by starting a trend in SunClan to smear smelly paint on themselves; it was the start of one of the greatest evil masterplans he ever thought of. He'd have to make smelly batch next time, maybe something that wouldn't smell until she broke the skin of the berries to smear it on to increase the chance of her putting it on. Yes, how could he not at least try to befriend her in the sake of mild revenge down the line?
He turned back to her to see her weird design, his father and mother would probably know what it meant but it lost on him since he never asked nor cared before. "What is fthat?" he blank look could tell others he didn't care for the answer but then a smiled peaked from behind the bundle of berries as asked the perfect question for him to add, "You fould add more. A moon fneeds fmore stars fthan fthat." Without dropping his bundle, he raised a paw to hit it with the back of his paw to knock a berry or two out. Catching at least one of them, he tossed it behind him towards her.
"Uh, okay," Yarepawn laughed as Enigmaheart tried to talk with his mouth full. She only half understood what he said and didn't care to ask for clarification, "This design is actually illegal in SunClan. It's an eclipsed sun, which is what happens when the moon is bold enough to hover in front of it for a time. Surely you've seen one? Anyways - I've always found them pretty. It's like dusk during the middle of the day. So adding stars to the design totally doesn't work but, thankfully, I have more than one spot to paint."
She ate one of the two berries and began to draw a pattern of stars on her left shoulder. Yarepawn was surprisingly good at the lineart, it was very clear what she was drawing, even to someone who knew very little about body paint art. She then ate the remains of that berry, too.
"Would you like me to draw a design on you? I have a great idea for a design around your throat..."

(oh that reminds me, when the eclipse happens I wonder if Yare and Enigma will call a truce and that builds their friendship. He don't like SunClan and although they kinda getting just desserts for their clan's prevailing murderous actions, Enigma wont like the Dominion cats my better so enemy of my enemy is my friend. Even if he can't actually do anything plot-wise I like to thing it's sweet they do meet and talk about how they wish they could take them down and brainstorm ideas.
"So thafts whaft it is..." he looked back to her design. He wisely put the bundle of berries down this time to talk, "I think I missed the last one, or I was probably doing someone- something more important." he seemed correct himself and if weren't for him getting louder it probably would've gone un-noticed. "I hear the crazy elders say there's a pattern or something and another one is due this season. Do you SunClan cats gets scared of the dark when your little sun disappears?" he teased as she finished up drawing the stars on her left shoulder.
/" for a design around your throat..."/ "Haha, nice try, I've fallen for that before and it was... well actually weirdly fun and frightening, but also not a risk I'm taking again. So sorry toots, but it's not the first time I've had a pretty face try to kill me before." he gloated a little too much about not dying to the first time he flirted with danger which was like basic common sense but this one didn't have too much of that.
