Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Deepkit was a curious little kit, and he always seemed to have his nose into something new. He wasn't exactly a troublemaker, exactly, but he did seem to have a knack for finding himself in precarious situations. Even so, when the black kit decided to climb a rock structure inside of the cenote, he didn't expect anything bad to happen. He merely wanted to see the camp from a higher perspective, and these rocks were just perfect for that! He clambered up as far as he could, until he reached a small platform that he could stand on. For a moment, everything was fine. His blue eyes scanned the camp below him, taking in the moment and the sight.
It was exactly that moment that his lack of sleep decided to catch up with him, and Deepkit stumbled, trying to keep himself from falling asleep. That stumble sent his paw over the edge, and soon after the rest of him followed.
Although he tried his best to be an attentive father, Tigersplash didn't always have his eyes on his children, especially as they were getting older and more and more able to explore on their own. It was good for them to have some time away from his watchful eye - it gave them a chance to figure things out on their own. Or at least, that's what he had thought, up to about three seconds ago.
Three seconds ago, he pulled his head from his lazy evening slumber to look for his children, just to see what they were up to. Two seconds ago, he watched his son fall in slow motion. A second ago, any sleepiness was gone from his gaze, and the tom immediately pulled himself into a standing position. He cleared the distance between he and his son in a handful of bounds, his eyes wide with worry.
"Deepkit, Deepkit are you okay?" he mewed frantically to the tom, his paw on his son's chest to check for breathing.
The fall from his rocky platform to the ground wasn't actually too far, but for the small and frail body of a kit, it was much worse than it would have been. The moment that Deepkit hit the ground, pain took over his body. There was no spot in particular that hurt, and the pain wasn't crippling, but it was somehow everywhere.
The impact blurred Deepkit's surroundings for a few moments. In his dazed state, he could just barely make out a voice. It took much longer for him to recognize the voice as his father's than it should have, but, once he did, the sights and sounds around him came back into focus. He blinked. Once, twice. On the third blink, he finally realized where he was. "That hurt," he said simply, his gaze falling back to Tigersplash.
Relief flooded in the tom's gaze when the kitten responded, letting out a nervous chuckle. "I bet it did, buddy," he meowed, brushing his son's side gently. Although the relief that his son was alive was a good place to start, Tigersplash knew he still had reason to be concerned: the possibility of a broken bone. "Can you stand?" he asked gently. Once he was sure his son was alright, he was certain to go into a lecture of some sort, but right now, he just wanted to make sure Deepkit was, in fact, okay.
His father's reaction washed away whatever worry that Deepkit held, and he gave a large, goofy smile following Tigersplash's brush against him. Right then, the small kit decided that he would hide the pain that still spread across his body, just so he wouldn't see the worried look on his father's face again. That frantic and anxious voice wasn't something that he ever wanted to hear again. So, when Tigersplash's next question came, he gave a determined nod.
"Just - give me a moment," he replied. He took a few extra moments, gathering his courage and preparing for the pain that would come with the slightest movement, and then cautiously crawled to his paws and pushed himself off the ground. He could almost imagine the feeling of fire on his burning limbs, but he pushed it all aside. He was strong. This was nothing! Think of this simply as the sort of injury he would get after defeating a mighty beast. With his imagination in full swing, the smile that he gave again was fully genuine. "Ta-da!"
