Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Eveninglily let out a sigh, the cool night wrapping around her. The rebellious air of Sunpetal and their aunt, Rosethorn, had grown palpable. SummerClan was preparing for all out warfare, for leaving their heart on the battle ground. Where did that leave her? Unlike some of the other garden keepers, she had no interest in participating on the front lines; she was a garden keeper through and through, and above that, she was a pacifist. She wanted no part in the violence that she was sure would ensue. But, at the same time, she didn't like being under the heel of NightClan, confined to the night, without freedom.
She let out a sigh, before glancing over to Oceanglow, who still laid in the nest next to her own. Maybe he was just as conflicted as her, or maybe he wasn't. Either way, he would be company, something to distract herself from the looming destruction of the uneven peace that had settled across SummerClan camp the night Stormstar took Ratstar's den.
"Hey, you up?" she asked, prodding Oceanglow with her paw.
"Mmmppphh," Oceanglow muttered, hiding his face in his fur. "Eveninglily...why'd you have to go and wake me up? You know sleeping is my coping mechanism, right...?"
She frowned at her brother- maybe she hadnt considered that possibility. “Well,” she meowed, half an apology in her voice, “since you’re already up… guess you’ll just have to find a new coping strategy. As long as it’s just the two of us, we can leave camp together without a NightClan cat.” She prodded him again, her eyes glancing around the camp outside the den with an unusual paranoia. The fighting wasn’t supposed to start for a few more days - Rosethorn and Sunpetal needed to train as many cats as possible to fight - but it didn’t make the camp feel any less tense.
"Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine," Oceanglow muttered, and rose up onto all four paws. His neck ached from sleeping in a weird position. "But you owe me a favour in the future. After the--um, the thing that's happening soon." Nice save, Oceanglow. Way better than last time! "Um, where are we going...?"
Eveninglily gave her brother a suspicious look over her shoulder. “Have you not been listening?” she chided her brother with a small smile. “Sunpetal is going to lead the charges, something about the water, mutiny, we get our lives back.” It seemed like she herself wasn’t all that clear. She then out a sigh. “Let’s go to….” her voice trailed; she didn’t really know what she wanted to do, only that she didn’t want to be here. “Maybe the wildflower fields?”
"You woke me up and you hadn't even thought of where you wanted to go..." Oceanglow looked forlornly at his nest. His sweet, pure nest that never woke him up in the middle of the night unless ants got in it somehow. He hated ants. He always made sure to step on them if he saw them. There would surely be ants somewhere in the wildflower fields, and it would be dark enough that they'd blend in with the night. "And besides, I don't like ants..."
Eveninglily let out an indignant huff. "Well, sorry the only thing I had planned was that I wanted to spend time with my brother," she grumbled, before quickly being distracted by his next sentence.
"Ants are friends!" she protested without missing a beat. Although the conversation had... not been anything about ants, Eveninglily was just weird enough that it didn't phase her. "There's a big colony of them on the east side of the territory. Maybe you just need some," she leaned in close, "exposure therapy."
