Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. "Did you hear? There's a ghost in a cave near camp!"
Sunkit had heard whispers of such a thing, though it was only a rumor that she couldn't get the full story behind. Still, it had sounded fun! So, that's why she had burst into the nursery, shouting about it with a wide grin on her face. She had really wanted to go to the cave herself, but, if she was being completely honest with herself, she was afraid to. She had never seen a ghost before - what if it didn't like her? What if it ate kits? There were so many worries in her mind, but they couldn't outweigh the excitement. So, she had done the next best thing: told everyone else.
Cryptkit sat back in the shadows of the nursery, hardly visible since his black coat blended in so well. The only thing that gave him away was the glow of his eyes, once blue, had now turned to deep golden orange. If he was any other kit, he probably would have laughed out loud, but choosing to remain mostly silent he gave a small 'hmph,' when one of his denmates charged in to announce that she'd heard of a ghost in a cave.

Snakekit's eyes widened to two moon-like spheres. "A g-ghost?" The thought seemed so exciting but he couldn't help but feel apprehensive. He had never met a ghost before. Some ghosts were nice, right? "When will we meet it?" He squeaked out to the others.
Cryptkit's lack of a reaction had caused Sunkit to visibly deflate for just a moment, and she was just beginning to prepare a wonderful and compelling speech for the other kit when Snakekit spoke up. The tortoiseshell spun on her heels, giving a large smile to Snakekit. "We could go right now!" she replied, her mismatched eyes flickering to Cryptkit. "You're coming too, right?"
The solid black kitten shrugged his shoulders, it’s not like there was anything else for him to do. “I guess,” he mumbled, getting to his paws and shaking out his short pelt. He figured someone should probably accompany them who might maintain a level head if this said “ghost” decided to appear. “How?” He asked simply, referring to the fact that kits weren’t allowed to leave camp.

Snakekit was both quivering with excitement and anxiety. "R-right now?! Oh, uh, of course." He puffed out his chest and put on his best brave face. "I've never escaped camp before but I've heard some others say that there is a hole behind Hystericstar's den?"
Although Sunkit had never heard of such a rumor, she nodded her head confidently as if she had. "Yes, of course! We can use that." How could she not have known that? She had to keep a better ear out for rumors, it seemed. Throwing her sudden insecurity out, she dramatically turned on her heels and started her march back out of the nursery, pausing for just a moment to toss her head over her shoulder. "Come on! I'm sure it'll be fine!"
Cryptkit hauled himself to his paws with the slightest shake of his head. He only wished he could have so much enthusiasm, though, he really didn’t. “Let’s go then,” he mumbled, gesturing towards the entrance of the den, observing the way his den mates reacted in turn.
The ruckus of the other kits roused Chestnutkit from her nap. As she rolled over to look at the source of the noise, she heard the end of their conversation - they were venturing out of camp! The small she-kit scrambled to her paws and gave chase, a rush of excitement going through her. "Wait for me!" She squeaked, and fell in line behind them. Maybe she could have a chance to spot some herbs outside of camp. Surely she would be praised for bringing some back?
Sunkit had left the nursery in a rush, but paused the moment that she was outside. It was just getting to be evening, so many cats were still out and about for the day, but would any of them notice a group of kits sneaking off behind Hystericstar's den? The two nursery aids were slacking in their job with so many kits in the nursery, and the queens were equally as busy, so they probably wouldn't be a problem. There was only one way to find out.
She glanced behind her, noting Chestnutkit had joined them, and gave a slight nod. "This way!" As casually as she could, Sunkit marched off in the direction of Hystericstar's den.

Snakekit tottered behind the others and almost tripped over Chestnutkit as Sunkit halted. Trying not to look suspicious at all and somewhat failing because he ended up looking awkward, he started to slowly follow again. "I can't wait to ask Hystericstar about all the new beetles we found." He meowed a little loudly in an attempt to be nonchalant.
It took everything in his little body to not roll his eyes at the other kits. He understood the goal of not looking suspicious, but it was just as important not to draw attention to themselves at all. With a small shake of his head, he nudged Sunkit with his paw to move forward without stopping, his own eyes scanning around them to make sure that no one was looking.

"Aww Cryptkit, lighten up." Snakekit purred quietly, tottling up next to the grumpy tom to bump him on the shoulder. "We are going on an adventure after all."
