He stared blankly up at the clouds, one eye remaining. It was a funny irony that a pirate scout would lose an eye. Half of his left ear had been torn off and one of his back legs was often stiff. He was still recovering from the explosion in the tunnels and Cadet Sunshine couldn't help but feel a little depressed about it. Most of the Regime had been affected and truthfully the tom was lucky to even be alive. Now, all her wanted to do was run away from the world. He hated the ugly scar where his eye once was... maybe something could be done to cover it up. Usually the cadet was not so superficial and worried about looks but this felt different. His promotion had been held back and it was questionable if he would be as good a scout as he was before, but he certainly did not want to be an auxiliary and would make do with what he had. "This sucks," the black tom groaned loudly for nobody to hear.

"I happen to agree," meowed a feline who had been limping by in passing. With her paw rendering her mostly useless, Gossamer had been damned to doing no more than making inconsistent rounds. She hated it. Although she had no penchant for hard work- she hadn't changed that much since her lazy days as Commander - she was bored, and she wanted to do something. Anything, really. She liked being useless when it was her choice to be useless. This certainly wasn't her choice.
"Looks like I'm not the only one with some pretty wicked injuries," she meowed as she pulled herself into a seated position next to him, letting out a low hiss when her severely and multiply fractured paw came in contact with the earth. "If it makes you feel better, I've pretty much accepted that this," she looked down at her strangely angled paw, "was the universe's way of telling me I was too powerful without it. It... frankly doesn't help at all, but it makes me feel a little better than just accepting that I had some real bad luck."

It was a funny way to view such misfortune, but smart to think that way too. Sunshine believed he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. "Honestly I'm glad to just be able to see at all. We were worried I was going to lose both eyes. Then I could probably moan around and call myself the blind protector." He shuddered at the thought and was grateful to be able to look up at the clouds, even if he couldn't see quite as much as before.
"It's a little ironic to have a pirate with one eye... I was thinking of adding an eyepatch. I am not strong but I can at least look cool." He wasn't strong or held himself with confidence like Gossamer. All he had was quick paws and a mind that could never seem to sit still.

She laughed at the cadet's words. "I like you, kid," she meowed with a wink. She then let out a soft sigh, as not to make too light out of the tom's position. He was right, he probably was lucky that the damage was limited to one eye, but was lucky felt like the wrong word. Was there any luck in being seriously injured?
"An eye patch would look good on you," the sentinel agreed. "Would certainly make you look badass, if nothing else." Her words were strangely encouraging; perhaps her near death experience had given the she-cat greater... perspective on life. "If you're up for it, I'm pretty sure I know a place we could get you one."

His ears perked up at that, now they were talking. Talking action which was good for him. He felt so stuck in his head and it was not clear and positive lately. She seemed an interesting cat but he knew very little about her even though she was asentinel in the regime. "I'm up for it. I haven't been able to decide what the eyepatch should be made out of... but you seem to have something in mind," while creative, he wasn't really much of a leader. Someone else having the bigger plan in mind sounded great to him but he hoped it would look cool... or rather, badass, like Gossamer described.

Gossamer Alessandra nodded. "I do. It's a bit of a journey though, if you're up to it?" It had been a long time since she had wandered her way into the city; the Gambler's Den had proliferated in her absence, and once everything had been settled with Lilith, Gossamer had returned to the Regime again in search of Kaisra and Arie. Her tail twitched slightly. "It'll be slow going," she meowed with a glance to her paw, "but it'll be worth it, probably. Have you ever been outside of the Regime territory?"
