Goldengriffon had turned his head as soon as the braying reached his ears. But the deputy wasn’t fast enough. The a few of the beavers swarmed over him, sinking their teeth into his flesh. The pale tabby hissed and yowled, doing everything he could to shake them off. A few he managed to knock away with a strong slap of his paw, claws digging into their soft fur as he pushed them back. It seemed like forever until they were retreating. The tom had thought for a minute that more of Springclan had shown up, however the horrible moaning from the dam told him other wise.
Blood dripping down into his eyes from his torn ear, Goldengriffon quickly turned his head and horror overtook him. “No!” The deputy screamed, lurching forward to try and save his leader… his friend. But something seemed to have landed on top of him, holding him back from jumping into the rushing water and saving Jetstar. Goldengriffon struggled, doing what he could to try and break free. ѕнαdow✩
"If you value the safety and survival of your leader and the continued hope of seeing your family again," came a velvetty dark growl at Goldengriffon's ear, claws sinking into the tom's shoulders and keeping him grounded with the earth underneath him, "you will. stay. here."
Weight slowly being removed from Goldengriffon's back, teal and black eyes glared down at the tom before the shadow was off, seeming to glide like a dark fog across the waters after Jetstar, ashen black pawprints left behind in the muddy embankment of the dam, quickly washed away by the rising waters.
Further down the river bend, the tom had launched forward and encircled Jetstar's scruff with sharp, merciless teeth, yanking her toward the side of the bank, though her body was far heavier than it should have been – dead weight.
The tom stood back and gazed down at her coldly, allowing her to try and keep herself in the same position or float off down whatever track the water had naturally carved into the earth over time. He tilted a black head, white facial markings making him look like a ghost along with the black mist that seemed to wrap around him and dance like flames.
"That was a very foolish thing to do. Heroic, but foolish. Do you know what you've given and the path you've created for those you've left behind? Your clan?" His voice was soft and silver, like quiet rainfall in the woods, different from the gravelly tone he used at Goldengriffon's side before.
(Jetstar's part to be continued in the thread Send me an Angel, I'm tossing in Cardinalsong to keep this thread moving along. Shadow, maybe have Sakurablossom have accompanied him down?)
Something had shifted up river, and the waters were receding above. Cardinalsong came pelting down from the camp where the other cats were headed. "Goldengriffon! Jetstar! Something's shifted-"
The ginger tom trailed off as he took in the wreckage along with the sight of Goldengriffon picking himself off the ground, and the tartered remains of something scattered around the banks, along with clicking angry large creatures that made the tom's pelt bush out.
"What happened?" He gasped. He hurried over to Goldengriffon, "Where's Jetstar?! What are those things on the other side of the river?!" Novaѕнαdow✩
This wasn’t her place by any means, but concern for her leaders and friends had prompted her to take up Cardinalsong’s call and accompany him along the scent trail to the now demolished dam. White paws skidding and becoming caked in mud, she stopped at Goldengriffon’s side, a soft sound of anguish escaping her as she leaned down and began to examine the tom. She nuzzled his cheek, as a gesture of comfort while also a soft warning not to move too suddenly. He was gravely injured, though if they brought him back and tended to him sooner rather than later, they wouldn’t be fatal by ant means. She glanced at Cardinalsong.
“Find Jetstar, she- she must be somewhere close,” doubt seized her heart with those words. If the rapids had been strong enough, she could’ve been pulled beyond their territory and into another by now. “StarClan, may you watch over our beloved leader and guide her to safety. May Goldengriffon recover swiftly and justice served.” She whispered, quivering slightly.
Cardinalsong blinked looking worried. But he nodded his head. "Right, I'll go look! She has to be down river or something!" He said turning and heading off to go look for his leader.
His mother had died in water, he hoped these floods wouldn't take their leader as well.
