Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Goldengriffon ran as fast as he could. With every step he took the mud threatened to pull him down as it sucked at his paws. By the time he reached Jetstar in the makeshift den, his coat was covered in mud. His paws were bruised and bleeding; the result of having stepped and slipped on various rocks. The golden tabby had to fight to catch his breath as he faced his leader.
"Jetstar... we have to move..." The deputy panted, his legs shaking as they threatened to give out from under him. "I saw... I found out what's causing flooding, but we have to get everyone out of here.. move them up to dry land... now!"
Jetstar jolted awake, the tan and black she cat immediately rising to her paws. "You found out what was causing the problem? Take me to it!"
She knew the camp shouldn't have flooded like it had. She'd known there had to be something else at work.
It didn't take long for the leader to be out of her den, tail waving. "Show me," She instructed to Goldengriffon, "Where's the source? We'll head by the medicine cat den and inform Sakurablossom that we'll be leaving to find the source."
They'd been planning to have the clan return to their camp anyways, this just moved up the time table a bit.

Sakurablossom still felt as though her skin was still too tight, eyes still haunted by all that had happened, but ever since her visit to the mooncreek, something wild and difficult to contain seemed to settle within her. Perhaps it was because, through her meeting with her ancestors, she realized she was worthy to care for her clan. That her clanmates did see her as an asset and part of the family, as opposed to the one who stole away their precious Fawnheart. The survivor's guilt that had plagued her for moons had started to abate, though she was still haunted by terrors in the night. She knew she wouldn't be whole anytime soon, nor would she ever be the naive, innocent she-cat she had once been under Fawnheart's tutelage.
But as Sakurablossom, she was enough, for now, and for that she was grateful, not only to her ancestors, but to Jetstar for choosing to accompany her to the mooncreek when she did.
Lifting her head, she glanced over at the entrance to the makeshift medicine den, tilting her head in curiosity at the approach of voices. She padded toward the entrance, blinking owl-like lilac and blush eyes in confusion.
Jetstar stopped by Sakurablossom's den when the medicine cat poked her head out. "Sakurablossom, Goldengriffon has informed me that he has detected the source of our problem. He and I will be going to check it over. In the meanwhile the care of the clan will be with you. Make preparations for our return to our camp, depending on what we find we will be returning to our proper home soon enough." She meowed.

Blackberry had been patrolling around the camp, checking on freshkill stores and herb stores alike. He was only just leaving the medicine den when Goldengriffon had appeared, rallying Jetstar. He watched the commotion, wondering what it could all be about, but was more curious about what part he might be able to play in it all. He waited, not wanting to step on anyones toes, yet inside he felt almost useless.
The medicine cat’s eyes blew wide and she nodded with stuttering movements, “Yes, of course, Jetstar. We’ll be alright. May StarClan guide your path and return the both of you to us with good news.”
She glanced over at Blackberry, soft eyes sympathetic for his plight given the slightly dejected look on his face. She looked back to her leader, “are you sure you don’t want to bring a couple of escorts in case it’s dangerous? I don’t want to lose either of you in any situation.”

Goldengriffon gave his pelt one final shake before he started heading towards the entrance. “We may need a few more cats with us to solve the problem… hopefully we can scare the buggers away but…”
The pale tabby took a breath before he looked around at his clan. Many of them had been lost to the flood, and cats were still searching high and low for their loved ones. Even Goldengriffon was not exempt from the heartbreak and worry. Only two of his kits had been found after the flood waters receded. His mate and son were still among the missing. But he couldn’t worry about that now. He had to put his clan first.
“Blackberry! We could use you! And any one else that is able to be spared for now! Jetstar and I will need the help!” Goldengriffon called out
Jetstar nodded, "He's right Blackberry, we could use the extra help. Sakurablossom take whoever you need to help you gather the clan for returning to camp. We'll find the source and then make sure this doesn't happen again. Come on!" She ordered taking the lead ahead of the small patrol that had been formed with Goldengriffon and Blackberry, the tan and black she cat making a beeline towards the river before slowing down to let Goldengriffon catch up. "Which way to the source Goldengriffon?" She asked.

Blackberry nodded, a fire sparking in his eyes as he shook out his pelt and puffing out his chest just a tad. His hopes were high, between the three of them they could scare off whatever it was plaguing them. He was swift on his large paws as he followed the other two, his tail tip twitching in anticipation for what awaited them, looking to Goldengriffon to point them in the right direction.
"I see now why you wanted to show me this." Jetstar meowed to Goldengriffon once they reached the river their small band of cats standing on a hill away from the water.
She narrowed her eyes as she glared down at the dam that reduced the flow of water beyond it to a mere trickle. The space reeked of a stench that wasn't like any animal scent she'd ever smelled before. It was appalling.
Worse the scent was still strong, meaning that whatever had made it hadn't been gone long. Nor was it the work of any groups of cats. No cats could make up a stench that potent.

Goldengriffon felt his lip curling as he was hit with the appalling smell once more, but he did his best to keep a straight face. The golden tabby carefully made his way down the bank, flicking his tail for the other two to follow. "Careful, watch your step." The tom said quickly.
"This dam explains everything. The camp flooding, the sudden lack of water in certain parts of the territory." The deputy stated as he stared at the wooden obstruction. "I haven't seen any signs of the beavers that made it yet but judging by the smell they didn't leave too long ago."
Goldengriffon let out a small sigh as he carefully balanced on one of the stones that would have been under at least a good few feet of water, but was now bare and touchable. "The only question now is what to do. Taking it apart could work, but it might prove dangerous depending on where we would start... I do worry that the pressure build up could burst the dam at any moment as well..."
Jetstar barred her teeth. "If they didn't leave long ago this is a golden opportunity to figure out how to tear it apart." She said.
She had been too slow to move the clan when the rains kept coming down. Perhaps had she checked the water levels more carefully and consistently she'd have seen the problem.
She wasn't about to leave this dam there, keeping their water backed up and their lands flooded.
"Come on!" The leader ordered leaping down the hill, paws sliding in the mud beneath but the leader didn't let it slow her down sliding and running down the hill and hurrying towards the dam.
She immediately went towards the end eyeing the sticks all stuck together and how they held together in a dam.
"Come on, there's gotta be a way to break this up." The leader muttered opening her mouth and taking hold of a large stick growling as she started to work it free, twisting with the strength of her neck. It shifted a little before she gave up neck muscles aching.
"Ngh, can't go at it like that." She muttered moving to start shoving at a stick at the ends to try and shove it free.

Goldengriffon felt the fur on his neck rising as he watched Jetstar trying to dislodge the sticks of the dam. A feeling of dread settled in the pit of the tom's stomach as he looked between his leader and the dam.
"Blackberry," He called up to the trusted. "I'm going to try and help Jetstar. Keep an eye on the dam. If for one moment you feel as though it might collapse, yowl for us."
The deputy carefully climbed down from the riverstone's and made his way towards Jetstar. He stopped for a moment when he felt a gentle spray of water hit his flank from the dam. Goldengriffon had frozen, blue eyes staring at the small gap in the wooden structure before he quickly scurried over towards his leader.
"Jetstar," He said softly. "Perhaps we can find a way to dislodge it from higher ground. If the dam collapses while we're here, we may not survive the deluge."
"It won't be easy to dislodge." Jetstar meowed, letting out a grunt as she reared on her back legs and pushed against the branch she'd been shoving at. She let out a cry of delight when it came free and was sent clattering to the ground. But then let out a growl when the dam didn't so much as budge.
"We have to keep chipping at it." Jetstar said, clawing at some of the muck and sticks, eyes narrowing as she saw very little results. "Even doing this from the end isn't going to work well! Our bodies alone aren't strong enough to dislodge it." She said.
She glanced at the water that lapped at the dam and spread out beyond it. "Besides high ground would put us in water." She said. "Unless you see any large rocks we could send crashing down on it. The water is the thing with the most force to get this moving."
She pulled back and considered the dam. "You stay here and keep working at this end." She told him. "I'm going to look for a weak spot." She said clambering up on top of the dam before her deputy could protest.
She'd had yet to lose a life and she'd survived enough madness, that she could take a dam apart without dying... and if not well she had nine lives to spare.
So gathering her courage even as she could feel the water pressing against the structure she began to move along the dam making her way to the center.

"Jetstar...!" Goldengriffon called, his protest falling on deaf ears as he watched the she-cat make her way towards the top of the dam. The golden tabby let out another hiss as water shot out from the damn and hit his eye. The deputy quickly dragged a paw over it before slowly opening it and looking around. His eyes landed on the river stones, his whiskers twitching as his mind started to create a multitude of ideas in his head.
"Stones... stones could work... but how would they work..." He muttered to himself as he slowly made his way towards the dry rocks. The tom placed his paw on one of the larger ones as he glanced back towards the dam. If they were going to dislodge it then they should do it in a way that wouldn't endanger their lives. The clan had already lost a number of their members to the flooding from before... why risk anymore, especially their leader?
Goldengriffon walked back towards the dam before he began poking and prodding at the sticks and twigs around the bottom. The sides were too compacted together. No amount of budging would dislodge them. That was evident enough with Jetstar's attempt. But the bottom... the golden tabby took a chance and worked at the bottom of the dam's structure. When he pulled at one of the twigs, he managed to dislodge one and watched in amazed horror as the dam seemed to ripple. Sticks and twigs shifted and shook slightly, and a thin stream of water began to poor out and pool around Goldengriffon's paws.
They say those who are considered the gifted can sense when danger and death is imminent. It hangs in the air; a cloying, damp rot, similar to the humidity of a fierce summer day around the lotus lakes of SpringClan’s once beautiful landscape, but instead of the familiar, wet warmth of such a home, it was chilling, freezing one to the bone.
The entity tilted his head, surveying the scene before him through the grayscale vision he was afforded considering who he was. Not living, yet not passed on. Not at peace, but no longer actively tormented. Helpless, and yet each and every harvest moon, he rose to offer what help he could to those who needed it far more than he.
There was no higher deity he could call on, no companion at his side. For 10 and a half moons of every cycle, he would be trapped in this endless nothing, while taunted by the living realm, so close and yet so far. Sound was difficult to translate through the rippling veil that separated the realms; it was muffled and warbled with each ripple. It was far easier to pick up on meaning through tone than whatever eloquent way one decided to phrase their words.
The black entity, more energy than form, padded soundlessly, paws not quite making contact with the earth, for a creature like himself cursed — or blessed, he was certain his soulmate would reprimand softly in her sweet voice — was incapable of breaching that field without a tether. He rounded the embankment as he observed the siamese she-cat desperately maneuver through the dust unmeant to be seen and her deputy, the tom who over the seasons had never forgotten him, even when he forgot himself, continued his brainstorm session.
He stood and watched.
Waited.
He knew the air in their realm would be thick with the energy of what was to come.
His heart, if he had one, would have ached for his brother and the furthered loss he would undergo.
Blue and black eyes took in the events as they unfolded and sent a prayer to anyone who may be listening, who may know he was still there, hovering between realms, trapped in the veil.
Jetstar felt the dam shift and she stumbled momentarily, stretching her legs to gather more balance as Goldengriffon successfully got more water to slip through. She glanced back and saw water pooling at her deputy's paws. "Yes! Keep that up!" She called back to him.
They could do this! They just had to find the right spots to tear into it.
Now in the middle of the dam she could see where the beavers had begun to weave it together. She dug in her claws and started tearing at where they'd made connections slipping lower down. She dug her claws into a sizable branch while she began shoving her hindpaws on a portion of branches on the bottom.
Water lapped at her hind paws, and Jetstar could feel her forelegs burning. She strained trying to get enough force to dislodge it. She let out a soft gasp when something loosened and water started to press in through the gap she'd started to make in the branches.
More water was starting to trickle past the dam though Jetstar couldn't see it too preoccupied with digging in the claws of her forepaws and hoisting herself back on top. Panting hard.
"All right that did something, just gotta keep chipping away at it. It's like a den all woven together. Pull enough of it away and it all comes apart." She meowed softly.

Goldengriffon had quickly backed away from the dam, shaking the water from his paws as he did so before he quickly climbed back up the riverbank.
"Jetstar!" The pale tabby called, hesitating to step forward onto the dam. "Jetstar we need to get figure something else out! If this dam goes, we'll lose even more cats! Including ourselves!"
The deputy took a quick glance towards the top of the dam. He placed one paw on top of the compact sticks and twigs, slowly putting his weight down on the structure. But when the structure shifted once more Goldengriffon jumped back. The golden tom by no means considered himself a coward. However, every instinct in his body screamed at him to stay away from the dam.
"Jetstar, we've already lost half of the clan," Goldengriffon said with a firm hiss. The pain of losing his mate and children to the floodwaters all too fresh as he glared at the obstruction. "We cannot afford to lose our leader as well. We have to find another way to dislodge it!"
"The clan should be moving back to camp, which is further north of here. If this dam goes the water will flow down." Jetstar called back. "If I can just weaken it in the center, we can work it loose enough to free the water and bring an end to this!"
She took a moment to catch her breath scanning the dam under her spotting another spot she could claw at, hurrying over to start digging into it tearing off chunks of dirt to get to the wood underneath and start pressing on it, feeling it creak under her.
A loud noise almost like a weird distorted dog call, sounded from further down river.
"That might be the creatures, we need to hurry." Jetstar said.
Before Goldengriffon could respond several large brown masses were hurrying in their direction baying at the two cats. They were big and their buck teeth was threatening at first glance.
Jetstar's ears flattened at the sight of them speeding up her movements moving forward and slamming her hindpaws down on the weak point the wood splintering and falling away from the dam, more cracks starting to form in the dam, water starting to leak out.
The baying noises from the beavers was getting louder as the beavers quickened their pace to approach the cat attacking their dam.
She had to act, and she could see a weak point. Her actions had left a spot where the water was pressing hard. Just straining at the center of the dam. All she had to do was break it... and then it was over.
But it was also likely she'd be over too.
'Nine lives, StarClan willing. I won't lose all of them.' She thought.
But she knew how even with Littlestar's extra lives her sister in law had been laid up after her stint with the moon goddess, badly hurt enough to where Bloodycrow could take over.
If she did survive... who knew what state she'd be in.
Jetstar's ears flattened. She wouldn't leave SpringClan in uncertainty. Blackberry was still lingering around. He could be her witness, make sure her will was known.
"Goldengriffon." Jetstar called. Lifting her voice over the beaver's cries as the beasts hurried for their dam desperate to try and protect it from the cat aggressors.
"It has been an honor serving with you." She said standing over the target. She looked up to look him dead in the eyes. "I leave SpringClan to you." She declared. "As StarClan and Blackberry as my witness. SpringClan is in your paws now."
Then the tan and black she cat reared back and summoning every ounce of strength she had. Slammed her whole body weight down.
There was a crack. And then the world flipped over, as water burst through the leak, slamming into Jetstar and knocking her head over tail to the ground and into the deluge she'd unleashed.
The beavers cried out and scattered retreating to the opposite bank for the moment as the dam broke and the river water ran freely once more.
