Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was nice to be back in DayClan, though this wasn't the same territory over which the tuxedo tomcat had reigned. Mistralstar swished his white-tipped tail back and forth as he paced, waiting for his apprentice at the camp entrance. His blue and yellow eyes glinted with starshine.
"I am indeed your spirit guide," his soft tenor meowed back. "I'm like a mentor, except I am in the ranks of StarClan, and only you are able to see me." The black-and-white tom smiled at his apprentice. "Are you ready to begin?"
A gentle smile eased onto Mistralstar's face. "Alright. We're going to begin with basic hunting techniques. Have you learnt the hunting crouch before?"
"That's perfectly fine," soothed the former leader. "That's what I'm here for. Now, try your best hunting crouch, and I'll tell you how to improve. Remember, mistakes are the best way to learn."
Mistralstar gave a proud smile. "That's a great start!" he encouraged. "Try putting a little less weight on your right side, and bring your paws a little closer together."
"Perfect!" said the spirit guide, satisfied. "It will start to feel more and more natural as you practice. Now try stalking. Walk forward a few steps, and keep your belly low to the ground, but not so low that it brushes it."
"Make sure to keep your tail low but off the ground," instructed Mistralstar, nodding along as his apprentice kept creeping. "Excellent! Are you ready to try it out on some real prey?"
"Whatever comes along first," the ghostly tuxedo tomcat responded. "And don't feel bad if you don't catch it- that's what learning is all about. But I think you'll do great. Now, scent the air. What do you smell?"
He scented the air and immediately smelled squirrel which happened to be his favorite. He recognized the smell from the fresh-kill pile. "I smell squirrel. But I heard they are a little harder to catch." He reported to his spirit guide.
"They are, as a matter of fact. They can climb up trees, and they're very quick on their paws." He smiled, blue and yellow eyes sparkling. "Are you up to the challenge?"
"If I make to much noise, I could scare the rest of the prey into hiding" he explained, still unsure. He wanted the challenge but he didnt want to mess up so bad that they couldnt hunt anymore.
