Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. Cardinalsong sat near the memorial Jetstar and her patrol had made for his mother, Lightstep.
He looked at the memorial marker with a long distant look in his eyes.
Did the clan remember the she cat his mother was? The one that fell in love with Cardinalheart, before the leadership and his failed ascension drove a rift between them? Did the clan remember the light footed she cat who used to like to wander by the abandoned Twoleg monster. Who had once journeyed into the caverns on an adventure with a few fellow warriors. Who comforted a grieving mother.
Cardinalsong hadn't paid a thought to those old stories since his days in the nursery, beside his mother and sisters. Shiningheart... Dovewish... were they both well somewhere far away from here? Or had their mother finally gone up to join them in StarClan.
Lightstep had lost her mind over the moons, no longer the she cat the clan had known. Stress taking her wits from her, grief chipping at her heart, until finally the rest caved, and in one stubborn moment she sealed her fate.
He hoped at least she was resting easier now.
Cardinalsong sighed, took a deep breath, then straightened up. "Well... it was nice sitting with you mom." He said quietly. "I hope things are well in STarClan... wish the others well... if they're up there with you." He said quietly.
