Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Chaicrisp let out a soft sigh as she gazed at Jayjack-- I mean the kits that her and Jayjack found. They were so sweet with their little fluffy coats and bright, innocent eyes. They were starting to get into the adventuring stage of life and so, so independent. Her heart simply could not take it. Well, it also couldn't take the burning love she had for their adoptive dad and his lack of acknowledgement of her existence most of the time. Anyways, the kits were just such dolls. Maybe it was time that they went on a family adventure?
Snakekit struck out a paw to swipe at Littlekit's tail then burst out with a series of giggles as he then scrambled to hide behind Jayjack.

Jayjack examined the kittens with a critical eye. They were growing older now, and soon they would be ready to begin their training. He planned to start them early like he had the last litter he'd mentored: the training wouldn't be harsh, they were young, but they could work on their stalking, and learning some patience and obedience would go a long way. He curled his tail over his paws, persistently ignoring the presence of the warrior beside him. He had assured Chaicrisp multiple times she had no stake in this litter and he would handle their upbringing, yet she insisted on staying nearby.
As Snakekit raced behind him, he twitched his ears and leaned back, hiding the kit a little better. "You can go join Shadowfluff's patrol," he suggested to Chaicrisp, nodding briskly to the patrol that was preparing to leave. "I'll watch the kits."
Sorrelkit was laying flat on her belly, watching her siblings and slithering toward them, apparently with no interest in actually using her front legs and instead scooting forward using the sheer power of her hind legs.
Luckykit sat still, watching his siblings play. At Jayjack's words, his head flicked up to look at his adoptive parents, about to protest. Before he could even open his mouth though, Sorrelkit's weird movements caught his attention, and he lost interest in whatever the adults were talking about in order to lower himself into a pounce, his butt wiggling in the air as he waited for a good moment to jump.

why, of course
"It's okay." Chaicrisp answered happily, completely unaware that Jayjack was just trying to get her to leave. "I went on a couple of patrols this morning so that I would have the whole day off to spend with our family!" She batted her eyes cheerily at her love-- I mean partner...in parenthood... Well, whatever they were. "I was thinking maybe we could go on an adventure? How does that sound little ones?"
Snakekit beamed up at Jayjack for playing along with his tricks. His next target was about to be Luckykit as he got distracted by Sorrelkit, but Chaicrisp's words caught his attention first. "An adventure?!" He squeaked excitedly. "Oh please, please, please."

"There is no family, Chaicrisp," he ground out patiently. "You have your own family, your own siblings. This is a bunch of orphans that I'm mentoring and you have no part in raising."
Jayjack didn't know why he bothered. She never listened.
"We can take them out if we don't go far," he decided, looking down at the kittens playing at his paws. It would do them good to see somewhere new. "Only if they promise to be obedient. One bit of defiance and they're back at camp. That goes for you too." He cut a glance at her. Another moment of silent debate raged in his mind; then: "I'll fetch Mastershrine to keep an eye on them as well." Four were a lot for him to keep track of at once, especially if he was keeping an eye on the warrior as well, and frankly, he did not trust her not to wander off.
Luckykit had been just about to finish his pounce and fly towards Sorrelkit, but Jayjack's approval of the idea had caught him off-guard, causing him to trip over his own paws. Because of the way he had been standing, he ended up with his head on the ground and his back end in the air. Even so, he grinned, his gaze once again flickering between Jayjack and Chaicrisp. "An adventure!" he echoed Snakekit.

"I found these babies first, Jayjack, and you decided to help me raise them. That means we are family." Chaicrisp responded quietly, staring down at her paws. After taking in a deep breath, she lifted her face and put on a bright smile. "That's right! We are going on a grand adventure maybe even outside of camp today." She purred. "You all are getting older so you should be able to go further without getting tired. Isn't that great? Now promise your dad that you'll be super good, okay?"
Snakekit nodded, his eyes wide and determined. "I promise I'll be the best boy there ever was!"
Jayjack did not acknowledge her quiet words; instead, the senior warrior nodded once to the eager kittens and slipped away to seek out Mastershrine. He had been Jayjack's favorite of the litter, and the only one that did not wash out during his training. "Mastershrine," he called when he spotted the dark gray cat, jerking his head left to indicate the warrior should follow him. "We're taking the new kits out and I need another set of eyes."
Sorrelkit nodded her agreement immediately, slithering to a halt and looking up at Chaicrisp. "Yeah! I'll be good," she promised. "Let's go!"
If it was possible, Luckykit's face brightened up even more. "I'll be the goodest that I've ever been in my entire life!" he declared, puffing out his chest slightly. Of course, his entire life thus far wasn't much, but it was the most he had, so it had to count for something, right?
Mastershrine had just got back to camp after spending the majority of the morning at the training grounds, and wasn't expecting to be called over by Jayjack. Had he done something wrong? The worry was always there, and each step that he took to follow the aurulent only made it grow. Just as his eyes narrowed in attempt to remember anything he possibly could have messed up on, Jayjack had continued. "Oh, that's all?" he said, relief clear in his voice. "I can help with that."
In the peripheral of one's vision, a faint glow could be seen, seeming to dance with unnatural color. Curious, wasn't it? Well, until they looked closer, spotting oddly colored flames.
"Good," Jayjack grunted. He led the tom back toward the kittens and steered the entire group toward the exit. His whiskers twitched at a strange scent on the wind, but he couldn't place it yet.
