Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Whoever was continuously meeting at the Nightclan border was a disgrace to Moonclan. The inquisitor couldn't tell if it was one of his own Shadow Hunters or one of the sneaky members of the City of Ash. All he knew is someone kept sneaking off to the border during the day and the middle of the night. Every evening the tom would find the scent of two cats at the Nightclan border. One scent belong to a member of Moonclan and the other a member of Nightclan. He was determined to get to the bottom of it. Also put a stop to it if he could help it. So he lay in waiting watching the border like a hawk.
It seemed to almost be a ritual now. Every night, after he was done with hunting or patrolling, Dawnbringer would pause at the MoonClan border. He was sure that he would never be able to meet her again, but there was still something in the tom that called him here. It was just like when he would go on patrols to find any trace of Duskveil or her death - but now he knew she was alive. Either that, or they had a secret sibling that looked exactly like his sister running around, which certainly wasn't the case.
...Was it?
No, Dawnbringer shook his head, approaching the border once more. That was far too unlikely.
Ah ha! The Inquisitor mentally said to himself as he saw a Nightclan tom approach the border. By the looked the tom appeared to be none other than one of Aspenstar's Loyal Guard Dawnbringer. The Inquisitor slipped out of his hiding place. Bringing himself to his full height in hopes the appearance of him would help him in his intimidation. "Well well well what do we have here? A Nightclan cat poking their nose where it doesn't belong perhaps?"
Running into a small apprentice at the border was one thing, but this was completely different. Perhaps, if he was smarter, Dawnbringer would have begun being more subtle after being found standing here once - but no one ever claimed that the dark brown tabby was a genius. He tilted his head, hiding his shock at the sudden appearance of another cat. Did everyone seem to have a problem with a cat standing near the border while in his own territory?
"Have you never heard of border patrols?" was what his absolutely genius brain decided to say, in response to his own thoughts.
"Border patrols you say? Hmm so tell me where is there rest of your patrol?" He asked a brow raising as he surveyed the area. As it appeared it didn't seem like there were any other cats in the area. Just the Moonclan Inquisitor and the Nightclan Loyal Guard. "If this is a border patrol than Aspenstar has gone soft."
"Oh, I never said I was assigned to a patrol, or that she had anything to do with this," Dawnbringer replied. And he definitely wouldn't say that the leader had gone soft - no, crazy was a much better word, although he knew better than to say that. She already doubted Dawnbringer enough, despite his actions never doing anything to go against her. His loyalty laid with NightClan.
"Well correct me if I'm wrong you are a Loyal Guard are you not? If I remember what I've seen at past Gatherings. Aspenstar seems to keep her guards on a tight leash. I believe that would mean she doesn't allowed them to wander near borders. Otherwise that may look suspicious." The Inquisitor asked as he moved closer to the border. He practically towered over the other tom.
That much was true. She did enjoy having the guard close - especially the ones that she didn't trust. It was for that exact reason that Dawnbringer was still in NightClan, and not with other Loyal Guard members in SummerClan. "She's been preoccupied," he replied with a shrug. He was sure that Aspenstar probably knew about his detours, but him searching for his sister was nothing new. She was probably just giving him some time to come to terms with Duskveil's loss. He still hadn't told her that he believed that she was in MoonClan - but perhaps she had already caught wind of that from his actions.
The words She's been preoccupied caught the Inquisitor's interest. The large ears on his head perks ever so slightly, but his eyes had adopted a cold frosty look. The Inquisitor was intelligent, almost too smart for his own good. Which is why he had managed to become a cat of such high rank as such as young age just like the leader he followed closely behind. But the tom also has his own motives. He was one thread away from cracking under the pressure of his own sanity and here Aspenstar's own loyal guard was almost feeding right into his paws. "Haven't we all been preoccupied, bareleaf is almost upon us. Speaking of which I better not see any of you lot poking your nose around on Moonclan's territory hoping for an easy meal. It was already bad enough that the Inquisitor had already had a tussle with a Winterclan warrior who assumed Moonclan had easy pickings.
"Oh, perhaps you haven't heard then?" Dawnbringer said, completely unaware of the things going on in Spacevoyager's head. With very purposeful movements, he settled down to sit, his tail swishing over to lay on his paws. He expected this conversation to be longer now, although he had no doubt that the Inquisitor would act on his threats. "NightClan is in no danger of starving this bare-leaf, at least currently. SummerClan is now being led by one of our Loyal Guards, so don't worry about us needing your prey."
In truth, he wasn't all that happy about the SummerClan take-over. Perhaps that was a second reason that Aspenstar had kept him here - to prevent him from helping the cats of SummerClan. This move had definitely made them plenty of enemies, and he had no idea what his leader had planned anymore.
Spacevoyager schooled his looks to keep his brows from shooting up to his eyes. "Oh?" That news was new to him. He had been too worried about the death of his own mate and keeping Moonclan a float and not crumble away like the dust on the moon. "Well it does seem that your clan's bellies will be full this bareleaf. Can't say the other Mountain Clans are probably not too thrilled about your clan's move there, but that's there problem and not Moonclan's."
Dawnbringer couldn't tell if the news had truly surprised Spacevoyager or not, but he could only assume so. He was terrible at reading others, but that oh had sounded like it came from genuine surprise. Then again, it could all be an act, and Dawnbringer would never know. "So, as you can see, NightClan is a bit too preoccupied to care about any prey in MoonClan's territory. But you're right, this isn't MoonClan's problem, which means we have no problem, right?"
"That is correct we don't have a problem." The Inquisitor replied a small smile creeping on his lips. It was very clear the smile wasn't genuine but what could he do in times like these. The Nightclan guard had just given him the best news he could ever dream of. The news meant one less thing that would endanger Moonclan.
Dawnbringer could almost let out a sigh as relief washed over him. It had felt like every word he said could be his last, and he really didn't want to start a fight with anyone from MoonClan - especially not Spacevoyager. Making enemies here would only hinder his search. Now, perhaps he could speak a little more freely, without worrying for his life?
"You expected me to show up here, didn't you?" he asked.
“I had a feeling whoever was showing up here at the border would come eventually. Though I will say I am rather surprised it was a Loyal Guard. I was rather expecting it to be a mischievous apprentice or maybe a young warrior of your looking to pick a fight. I was fully intended on scaring them off. But instead I caught you.” Spacevoyager answered his smile flattened into a thin line. He wasn’t unhappy but it was clear that he was trying to get a read on the Guard. Studying Dawnbringer’s body language the way he spoke carefully. His citrine eyes were almost burning a hole into the other tom.
