Date : Spacevoyager has asked both Lanternglow and Potionwizard to meet him in the field next to the river. That he needed help searching for a lost object, but didn't explain what the object was to either cat. The moon appears to be full this evening, but isn't quite full yet. There is no clouds and the stars shine clearly above. There are no fireflies as it is too late in the season to see them, but the air is still warm and it is one of the last warm evenings that Moonclan will experience until next spring.
How some cats could ever lost things, he did not know. All they needed to do was always put the same thing in the same place, and they would be able to find it every time. Potionwizard grumbled all the way over on his lonely walk, no doubt already stewing in what would be a night of frustration for him. "So, what in Selene's name did you lose?"

A certain she-cat hummed to herself, she being closer to the river than the middle of the field as she sat staring at the river bank in boredom with only her tunes to keep company. Her paw under her chin so it just lightly rested on the back of her paw. The river banks were so lively when they had dancing lights along them - fireflies do love moisture which made it all the more sadder the river was not lively tonight, and confirmed the last of her lighting friends had left her with the turn of the season.
"We all lose something, sometime..." Lanternglow spoke up, announcing her presence if the humming did not, and she stood up with a sigh. She'd have to forget her little, frivolous worries for now.
He rolled his eyes. "Well, yeah, but that isn't an excuse for anything. I can still be mad if they then go bothering me. It's disruptive. If he just put everything in the same place then this wouldn't be an issue." He sat down with a thud. "Ughh... anyway I guess there's no better place to wait. Who knows, maybe that tom will get lost and we can leave."
His tail tapped impatiently against the ground, and no one appear from within the tree line. "Why can't this guy just be on time. Whatever." He grunted and turned his attention back to the river. "Let's just get this over with. Do you think he lost his whatever in the river? 'Cause I am not swimming for whatever he lost."

"Hey we're all on the same team now," Lanternglow said in a light-hearted, teasing tone as she pranced over quite happily to join his side. "And we don't know if something happened, if someone interfered, or if he's having a bad day... the point is whether it's our fault or bad luck we're suppose to be there for each other. What's a clan if we don't have each other backs? It's knowing if you ever need help we're gonna be here for you too." She mewed all while glancing around the river banks having heard and taking his suggestion seriously. Even though she had been lingering around the river for the past few days, she had to admit her head was in clouds, or staring up at them looking for fireflies rather than paying attention to the ground and if someone lost something.
"Besides if it weren't for him losing something we wouldn't get this moment where our duty is to literally just look around- you know how many warriors would kill for an easy job every now and then?" She started to branch off from him again to stick paw around some suspiciously shaped mud before decided against it and looking around for a branch to poke it with instead. That said she wasn't the lazy type, just valued the moments they could breathe without the threat of fighting or war looming over them.
"Yeah, maybe, but if he had our backs he wouldn't have just deserted us out here!? Do you know how much ground we have to cover now that the idiot didn't even show up!" He growled in frustration. "It's bad enough that he couldn't clean up he own mess and used his Inquisitor powers to get us to help him, but he doesn't even try to lend a hand!" He huffed. "I swear, when I get my paws on that sucker he's gonna be sorry and wish he never dropped his thing."
He heard all of his partner's kind, logical words, but he was fed up enough that he just didn't want to hear it. He shook his head. "Don't mind me, let's get this thing so we can rub it in his face. And maybe hide it again so he learns his lesson."

Lanternglow paused looking for a branch to just look at the tom as he vented. Her eye ever so slightly winced in some mysterious sympathy for something unknown to anyone else but it was enough to make her stop what she was doing. The questioning look on her face did not remain voiceless for long though.
"Are you.. alright Potionwizard?" she asked cautiously as she turned back to finding a branch to make it feel less obligated to answer, and less intimidating. Sometimes it was easier for cats to open up, to talk out loud while doing something rather than just a one-on-one conversation, that tended to put too much pressure to say something to continue the convo or push cats to closing up and avoid talking at all, and she liked to leave the door open for others to have a least stressful choice as possible. "You don't have to be here if you don't want to, I can find it on my own..." she pawed a root or possible branch sticking out of the earth and when it started to give, she dusted off the clumps of mud. She knew he was probably gonna focus on and say 'of course i have to be here' but she didn't know how else to hint that would be happy to cover for him without just saying it point blank.
"Well, I wouldn't want to do that! I don't like doing this and I think the Inquisitor is dumb for losing whatever it was, but orders are orders. They're dumb, but whatever. He's putting nothing in danger beyond my sanity so I really don't care." While he had a distaste for the whole situation, he had no desire to just saddle this inconvenience on the she-cat. It was just something he saw himself as above doing, no matter how stupid the orders were. "Let's just get this overwith so we can be done, okay?" He walked along the banks and peered into the river's waters, hoping to see something rather peculiar.

"Mmm" she agreed with just a smile and nod of her head. She couldn't think of what else to say without reiterating or rather, repeating the same thing she said before so she resigned from trying and refocusing on the temporary obstacle before them. She dug her claws into her excavated, muddy branch and ripped it out imprint in the ground.
"So then, did he say anything that might hint or clue us in on what it is we're looking for?" she asked. It wasn't much and she still didn't know what it was they were looking for but with her 'poking stick' she went back to that suspiciously shaped patch of mud she found before. "Must be something valuable or sentimental.." she mumbled her vague guesses.
(i really have no clue, was it any specific or does one of us just makethe 'item' up? Assuming the item doesn't really matter to him and this is all just an excuse for them to go out together. lol)
(I really don't know... maybe it exists maybe it doesn't? Depending how their interaction goes we can figure it out?)
"You know, I hadn't thought of that... but that would have been so nice, right?" He rolled his eyes. This tom really pissed him off more with every moment he had to think about it. He let out a drawn out sigh which evolved into a half groan, half growl mix by the end. "He just told me that he wanted my help to find something or other... hopefully it was at least distinctive." He swiped his paw into the river, and came up with a pawful of mod. "Fantastic."

The suspiciously shaped patch of mud actually jumped away, and she gasped and leaned back before processing it was a darn toad and it quickly hopped over to the water and plopped into the water disappearing as it kicked up a murky haze. Then, Lanternglow's eyes flickered up, an idea seeming to cross her as their search continued to prove fruitless. She dropped her stick with a soft thud and turned back around to her companion.
"Well then, if he couldn't be bothered to remember what it was, then I say we tell him we found it. Something like 'we didn't know where you were so we put it in your den, why you haven't lost it again have you?' and then, he'll be so embarrassed he'll have to ask someone else for help." She a raised a brow as if to ask 'well? what do you think?' in waiting in anticipation for Potionwizard's thoughts. She normally wasn't one for lying but if the Inquisitor was going to waste her time she could waste his. It's not like it was important anyways if he was just going to leave the task to two random warrior's and forget to tell them what the darn thing was.
He bristled at the sensation of the toad coming to life and hopping away, but he snickered at the she-cat's reaction to the amphibian's escape. He quickly became entrapped by what the she-cat was suggesting. It spun everything on its head as he wanted it to. The Inquisitor would think twice before sending anyone like them out on a wild goose chase like this again. He smiled. This would do nicely. "Yes, I like the sound of that. The beginning part of your plan has some kinks in it, but we can sort those out. It won't take too much to deal with an idiot like him."

"Well, now he's a clever tom with plenty to do I'm sure," the she-cat easily fell back into her benevolent ways, not one for being so cruel or to put down others. "Just so happens he's also a bit forgetful." She strolled over to join Potionwizard's side as if she was going to take him his arm and going skipping off like some twolegs having a jolly ol time.
"But first, we can't return too quickly - join me for a walk good sir!" she insisted with a playful formally laced with delighted giggle. "And it'll give us time to work out those kinks in the plan along the way."
"Well, I don't see how you can be both cleaver and forgetful, but one of us can be wrong I guess." And it's not going to be me. Some of these cats really had stones for brains, and it was on him to get them all thinking once again. Maybe this she-cat would be a good start. "Fine, there is a lot discuss before we do anything..." He mewed, pretty much completely missing her playful tone. "Like what's our follow up? We have to have a back up plan."

"I'll write that down as a note for our friendship when moving forward: Agreed to disagree." She wisely choose to not fight, and pick her battles carefully - she couldn't waste her breath trying to convince him differently than his opinion, that was something only him or the Inquisitor could do.
"Our follow up is there is none - guilty is the cat who worries so much they make up a lie to cover for the other lie. It's a mistake to lie when you'll only end up forgetting all the lies and they catch up to you. How else can an honest cat like moi " she gestured to herself, "be so carefree? It's called little white lies, the ones you're supposed to forget and if he asks you any more detail than 'we left it at your den' then you simply say 'I don't know I forget'." she said confidently, and with that she rested her case and waited for her opponent's rebuttal to debate.
She had all the social awareness he was born without. Really, any outside viewer would have no idea how they were still talking to each other. He just grumbled away when she said that there was no real follow-up to their great, great plan. "Well- well-, we need a follow up. All good plans have multiple steps and possible variations. We need to think about all of them, we can't just say 'I don't know I forget'. A cat with half a brain wouldn't believe us." Well, Spacevoyager probably doesn't have that... so maybe. But no. "I don't think banking one on of these 'white lies' is a good idea."
