Time had been snatched away from him as the king ruled over his new clan; the nights had blurred one into the next as he set up his new den and became acquainted with his new subjects. It was hard work, and he was in need of a break. Finally, he found the clan in a position where it was stable without him for the night, and he slipped away.
By the time he reached SunClan, the sun was rising, and it was early dawn. Good; Hakoda should be rising by now. Stormstar's paws thrummed with anticipation as he crossed the NightClan border and climbed back up the rock he'd sat on last time he waited to meet the warrior. So much had changed since then, and he was surprised to find himself eager to share the good news.

It had been a while since Darksonata had gotten to meet with Stormreign, and he was beginning to think his... boyfriend?... mate?....lover?.... however you wanted to label their relationship was avoiding him. Their first date at the waterfalls had gone rather well until he took a little dip into the pool in the center of NightClan's camp. Had Aspenstar gave him a hard time after all? He had tried to be patient, but his patience was growing thin. Each morning and evening he would travel to their meeting place, the thoughts of barging right back into their camp to find Stormreign at the front of his mind.
It seemed as if fate had other plans, just as he had decided to go through with the plan he picked up on the familiar scent. He picked up his pace, running at full speed as he leaped atop the rock by Stormreign's side. He circled around the tom with a critical eye "You ok?" he questioned, looking for injuries
This time he had no trouble detecting the tom's approach; his steps were loud and urgent, and Stormstar grinned at the sound. Someone was eager to see him. He turned to face him, standing still for the tom's cursory examination, then stepped forward and nosed him in greeting. His question was surprising, but Stormstar guessed the news had traveled more swiftly than he did, and Hakoda was worried the SummerClan takeover had injured him.
"I'm fine," he assured, "I stayed away from the violence." He had been assigned his own guard to keep him safe, but they had been wholly unnecessary. Aspenstar, Phantomfox, and Pinesimmer had been the only cats to bloody their paws that day.

Violence?
Hakoda blinked, but decided that his questions could wait until later. Stormreign was unharmed, and that was what mattered most. He returned the nuzzle, before taking his spot at Stormregin's side, his long fur brushing up against the other tom's side. He was simply glad to be back at his side, both of them well and healthy. Whatever had happened seemed to have not affected him that much
"Trouble?" he placed his paw gently onto Stormreign's, "need help?"
"Trouble, no. Help, maybe," Stormstar laughed. "Twilightdance will watch over the clan while I'm gone. I trust her to keep everything in order; Phantomfox is there as well, but I suspect his job is to keep an eye on me, not SummerClan. Aspenstar knows I have no real use for him." He had little interest in his fellow loyal guard. The tom was a blunt instrument, a weapon of war, and Stormstar preferred to keep their clan at peace for as long as possible. He doubted SummerClan would fight by his side.

Darksonata listened trying to process the words that Stormreign was saying. Take care of the clan? SummerClan? Wasn't he apart of NightClan? "Summer?" Had SummerClan attacked NightClan? No that wasn't very likely. SummerClan wasn't exactly known for violence, and it seemed as if Aspenstar was still around. Which really only left one option, NightClan invading SummerClan. It would explain the violence comment, but why? NightClan had been rather peaceful since Aspenstar had taken over. Even reaching out to SunClan and forging a friendship between the two leaders. It was rather strange. But it was best to allow Stormreign to explain, after all sometimes if you asked to many questions you got answers that you didn't really want to know.
Stormreign looked puzzled. Didn't he know? It took him a beat, but soon enough he reached the same conclusion as Darksonata: they were having very different discussions.
"I'm the leader of SummerClan now," he told him. "Why were you asking if I was okay, if you didn't know?"

Darksonata blinked, leader of SummerClan? But a smile began to spread across his face. Stormreign was a leader now? He wasn't sure how or why, but it didn't really all that important since he was safe and sound "Congratulations" he purred leaning over to nuzzle against the tom's cheeks, before pulling back to answer Stormr...star's question. Why had it worried him so much?
"You not show..." it had never been a question of if Stormstar hadn't wanted to see him again, only what had kept him away. He motioned towards NightClan "about to get you"
A slow, delighted grin crept across Stormstar's features. There was no malice, no edge; he was genuinely, pleasantly surprised that Hakoda had noticed his absence and would have dared to cross the border to come to find him. Most cats had never cared about him enough to even consider making such a risky choice.
"Well, I am sorry I didn't get a chance to warn you I'd be gone," he told him sincerely. "It happened fast. Aspenstar got the news that the clan was in need of new guidance, so she promoted me and we set off to start my new reign. I've been trying to get everything settled so I could come back here and tell you the good news."

Hakoda accepted the apology, dipping his head and simply touching his nose to the other tom's cheek "You ok, I ok"
He leaned in against Stormstar a slight purr rumbling from deep within his chest "Next time I find you faster" as both a warning and a playful gesture. He could be rather patient, but not when he was worried about those that he cared for. "Stormstar" he added with a smile, it suited him, even though the name felt foreign on his tongue
Stormstar purred back, "If you're this happy to see me next time, I might make you wait for me more often." He leaned into his touch, enjoying the sound of his name as well. Every time someone spoke it, he felt this wonderful rush. It had been too long since he was last in charge, and he was reveling in the power.
"I just hope NightClan can survive in my absence. I've made it easy on Aspenstar -- I left her plenty of warriors, and Phantomfox is my problem to deal with -- but her judgment is," he paused, savoring the moment, "less than ideal." Stormstar had no qualms about sharing the potential weaknesses of his clan, not now that he had his own. NightClan meant nothing to him outside of their potential as backup when SummerClan inevitably turned against him.

Hakoda didn't know much about the NightClan leader, other than the glimpse he had caught of her back at NightClan's camp. She had simply allowed him to walk away from the whole situation, which he had appreciated, but it never would have been tolerated in SunClan. He hadn't thought much of it, but if a leader was willing to allow an enemy warrior into the center of their camp with no consequences it didn't bode well for their state of mind.
"Then fix it" he replied, after a moment of thought. Obviously it wouldn't be that simple, there were complex political games in play. You couldn't just simply uproot a leader even if you had reasons to do so. But there were other things you could do to put things into motion
"Certainly not," Stormstar replied with a mischievous grin. "Her poor judgment made me a leader. I have no doubt her topple her empire and mine, but as long as her madness favors me, I'll serve at her side."
Stormstar had sworn his loyalty to her not too long ago, and without hesitation; he had looked her in the eye and told her Hakoda would never influence his decisions and he would follow her every word, even if it went against his love life. He also told Doefreckle that he wouldn't let SummerClan fight in a battle while he was their leader. He had no qualms about breaking either promise the moment it failed to benefit him.

"A dangerous game" the black tom chuckled.
Stormstar was playing with fire, but it suited him. Part of him want to chastise him for himself under fire, while the other couldn't help but admire the ambition. It was... well he wasn't sure how to explain how he felt about it "better win" --------------------------------------------------------------------- Suddenly a flash of silver fur leapt out from behind the stones. She had overheard the two cats speaking from quite a distance away and told the ashen gray tom she had been speaking with to just stay quiet and not move. She had slipped silently from one hiding spot to the next until she got close enough to lunge. It was strange how things worked out this way. They very cat Soot sought to kill happening to be within their territory. Trespassing, holding one of their own captive. More than enough of a reason to attack without holding back. At least it was the excuse she would use
She bowled him over, tearing him away from Darksonata and claws primed at the new leaders throat. Pin pricks of blood appearing under her claws
"and that is how its done" she called out, even though her companion wasn't even in sight
------------------------------------------------------------------- Darksonata had been entirely to focused on Stormstar, not noticing his clan-mates presence until it was to late. He automatically lunged for the silver she-cat only stopping when the scent of blood reached his nose "Let go" he growled, a clear warning that he hoped she would head
Stormstar grinned. His power had awakened his old arrogance; he knew—
—the hit from the stranger blindsided him. He rolled across the rock and landed on his back with claws at his throat; he craned his neck back to look up at the she-cat holding him and she was entirely unfamiliar. Her fur reeked of SunClan, though; what had he done to upset her? His ear twitched at her words, but they made no sense to him.
"A pleasure to meet you, though I do wish it had been under different circumstances," Stormstar drawled, his voice a little gutted by the difficulty of speaking around her paw. "The name is Stormstar. Mind letting me up?" He didn't move a muscle, preferring not to spill his own blood, but he was tense and ready to move the second she was distracted.
--
The gray tom leaned forward, his eyes narrow. "Kill him, kill him NOW," he hissed under his breath, but he had the good sense to stay quiet and hidden; he was a trespasser here and when Tinymutiny killed Stormstar, it was likely her companion would turn on Sootstep if he knew he was here. Still, it took all of his strength not to lunge out there and kill the tom himself. How had Stormstar gotten here? Had he followed him?

"Unfortunately for you I can't do that" her claws digging in a little deeper so that if he tried to wiggle or escape it would most certainly rip out his throat "You are trespassing on SunClan's territory. In the old days you would have been dragged back to camp to face initiation, but for you I will show mercy and just end it here. No fancy tricks or mouse-brained schemes. You broke the rules, now you must face the consequences"
"LET GO"
A dark voice boomed loudly as the she-cat hovering over the SummerClan leader looked up from her target to meet Darksonata's eyes and froze. It was as if her paw had gone numb, unable to finish the act that came so naturally. The grip of the claws loosened, before she screamed. Tinymutiny crumpled off to Stormstar's side clutching and clawing at her paw drawing her own blood. She screamed in agony, rolling around on the ground in pain.
Darksonata took a step forward, until he was standing protectively over the SummerClan leader. His lip was turned up in a snarl, but the furry in his gaze faded as he bent down to gently nose at Stormstar's neck.
"I don't think—" Stormstar began again, but was interrupted by Hakoda's call. Good; he was going to defend him. He listened for the angry warrior to say something else in his defense, anything to give him a chance to free himself, but was met only by silence; then, abruptly, the she-cat released his throat.
Stormstar lunged upward with a snarl, catching her fur in his claws and dragging her throat down to his reach. To his astonishment, she started to scream and collapsed. He wasn't strong enough to hold her up like this; his deadly grasp on her fur slipped away as she hit the ground before his teeth ever met her throat and she screamed and screamed. Stormstar rolled to his paws and sat halfway up, staring at her in shock. Tinymutiny could have, would have, killed him, but he felt no anger toward her now. His gut was cold as ice as she suffered on the ground at his feet, and he was barely aware of Hakoda standing over him.
A dark-gray tom burst from the bushes and sprinted to the she-cat's side. He crouched down and nosed her incessantly, reaching in with his paws to try and pull her away from her paw so he could get a good look at it. He shot dark, hateful looks at Stormstar, who blinked back at him; the gray tom looked only vaguely familiar to the leader, and out of context, he had no idea who he was. The stranger was murmuring in the fallen she-cat's ear; Stormstar could only make out a few of the words, murmurs of "are you okay?" and "what the hell did he do to you?".
Because Hakoda had caused this, whatever this was. Stormstar knew little about the elementals, he'd only ever met one, but that had to be what was happening here. Some strange, horrific element and Hakoda was controlling it. Torturing her, for him. "Enough," Stormstar commanded quietly. His gaze averted, unable to look at her any longer -- or at Hakoda. "I think she's learned her lesson. She tried to kill me, and now," he half-smiled at the bitter irony, "she's faced the consequences."

The moment Darksonata's gaze had broken to check on the leaders throat, the silver she-cats pain stopped. At least the pain that he was causing, all that was left were the claw marks that she had left on herself. It was an instantaneous wave of relief that washed over her, almost like the horrendous pain had never even been there in the first place. Her breathing was rapid and eyes dilated as she tried to catch her breathe. but pulling herself into a sitting position
Darksonata followed after Stormstar, refusing to leave his side "Hurt" he fussed over the wound that Tinymutiny had left of his neck trying to get the tom to slow down

Snakebounce had followed his mother on a whim. She had been... acting stranger than usual, and it was beginning to worry him. Of course, the small tom couldn't go to his siblings about this. They were both dealing with their own personal issues, and he would have felt horrible dragging them into this. No, Snakebounce could handle his mother... or so he hoped.
The dual-colored tabby took a deep breath as he moved further into Sunclan's territory. He wasn't sure why his mother would be this far out, but this is where her scent trail led him... but it seemed as if she wasn't alone... what was Darksonata doing out here? And was that Summerclan he smelled? The little tom didn't have much time to ponder. The sound of Tinymutiny's screams pierced his ears and made his heart drop.
"MOM!" He yowled, hurling himself forward. His muscles burned, but he pushed himself forward until he stumbled onto the strange group. All it took was for Snakebounce to see his mother's blood on the grass and her torn up paw for his fur to bristle.
"Mom!" The tabby hurried to her side, all but pushing Sootstep out of his way as he quickly nosed through her fur. He gently took her paw into his and looked it over quickly. "Mom are you alright? What happened, what are you doing all the way out here?" Snakebounce didn't wait for her reply, his brain struggling to keep up with what was happening. Instead, he snapped his head towards the other three, his lips pulled back into a snarl.
"What did you do to her?!" He hissed. "... And who the hell are you?!" Snakebounce seethed as he glared at Sootstep
"Hey, you're okay, take it slow," he ordered gently, reaching out to place a reassuring paw on her uninjured paw, at the risk of her turning on him. Sootstep's ears flattened as he heard a call and jerked back just as a tom crept up on his blind side to take his place at the she-cat's side -- at his mother's side. Her son was here. He took a step back, letting the SunClan cat handle reassuring her. Helping her wasn't his job, he barely knew her' he had a job to do, and this might be his only chance.
"I'm nobody. Your mother was helping me," he replied bluntly, a tad annoyed by the tom's misplaced anger. "Keep an eye on her, make sure she keeps taking deep breaths and don't let her leave."
And Sootstep turned to his task.
--
"I'm fine," he asserted, pulling away from Hakoda sharply. Stormstar paused, then shook his head and stopped, muttering an apology under his breath. "I'm just rattled. That's all." The injury in his neck didn't hurt at all; maybe later it would, but right now he was in too much shock to process that he had nearly died. It was the least interesting part of the whole event. "Hakoda," he began, then paused as he spotted the dark gray warrior approaching them.
"Stormstar," Sootstep greeted stiffly, tilting his side. "Your wound looks deep. I'll escort you back to SummerClan for treatment."
Stormstar started to look at Hakoda, amused, then stopped himself and redirected his gaze to the approaching warrior. "What do you think, Hakoda?" he mewed. "Harmless offer?"
