Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Seablossom had recently given birth to her latest litter and with that the family had gathered. Lounging outside of the nursery, she watched as Adornedkit and Crownedkit met each of the rest of the family. Her eyes would trail from them to Nettlepaw, a cat she was practically adopting. Appleblush wasn’t anywhere in sight and had ignored the poor boy, so the queen ha staken it on to herself to guide the apprentice. “Nettlepaw, how have you been?”
Berrybloom was couched down by Adornedkit, tickling the little one with her whiskers as she herself giggled. Her newest sibling were just the cutest things! Turning her gaze to Dewshine, her adopted sister, she spoke up. “Aren’t they cute?” Her sister though, wasn’t paying any attention. It’d rained the day before, leaving small puddles in some areas, one of which happened to be nearby. Dewshine was currently watching her own reflection in said puddle.
"Kits, I'm back!" Crownglass called as he headed toward his family wearing a roguish grin from ear to ear. He had a shrew in his jaws; he'd picked it up from the returning hunting patrol just a few minutes ago. Only the best, warmest prey for his mate! As he rejoined the group and set it down in front of Seablossom, a tiny black kitten darted his way on stumbling paws and wove between his first legs, purring as he rubbed against them and gazed up at his father. Crownglass leaned down and nosed Crownedkit affectionately.
"They're getting so big! I swear they were half this size yesterday."
Seablossom drew her eyes away form the apprentice she’d been trying to speak with towards her mate and the kits. “You know better than anyone that kits grow fast.” It was said in a teasing tone but with a hint of sadness to it. They’d lost so many kits and cats, and yet their family was still strong and growing. The queen turned her head back to the apprentice though a bd patiently awaited his reply.
Berrybloom nudged her dad’s shoulder, “what you expect them to stay little and adorable forever? They gotta be strong warriors, don’t ya know that! And I’ll teach them everything they need to know. Don’t worry brats, big sis has got ya covered. I’ll make sure dad doesn’t try and keep you as kits forever!” She was joking but it was fun to do. Fun to feel like they could joke again after all that’s transgressed in their family the last year or so. The she-cat knew her parents live for kits and their whole family and while she liked being a big sister, Berrybloom doesn’t see herself having kits. How do you tell your parents that though? That you’d rather be the cool aunt than the mom?
Lovekit had inched closer to the nest curiously staring at the much younger kittens. They were so much smaller than him. That he would probably been an apprentice before they were old enough to play with him. "They are so small! When will I be able to play with them? I want to take them exploring!" He asked his question directly mostly at Seablossom but could probably be answered by any of the adults in the den.
Robinpaw had joined the rest of her family in the nursery. She was the first out of her litter to join her family for this special moment. Her brothers were nowhere in sight. Smiling brightly at her aunt and uncle. "Oh they are getting so big!" She exclaimed as she saw Crownedkit attempting to walk.
Adornedkit blinked at the world around him, at all of the cats coming in and out of the nursery. The new sights and smells were overwhelming to the young kitten, and he finds himself drawn close to Berrybloom in fear. His eyes were wide as everyone around him spoke. He knew he had older siblings, and that he loved them, but he didn't know them all just yet. His gaze falls on his sibling, and he copies after him, stumbling over his not so ready paws.
It was moments like this, where the family was gathering, that made Acorncharm remember her sadness. It had taken her forever to get out of her depressed state after the loss of Applecrisp and Chestnutheart, but a combined effort of Frostpaw's kits and Rivergale had managed to brighten her life again. She joined everyone shortly after Robinpaw had, giving the apprentice a warm smile before fixing her gaze on the new kits, attempting to ignore the emptiness in her heart.
Sparrowpaw stumbled up to the group, a small mouse in his jaws as he looked around. "I brought food for the kits! Do they eat mice yet? Are they still too young?" he almost rambled, his gaze swapping between the kits and Seablossom. He couldn't quite remember what young kits could eat - or if they could have any prey at all. Up until now, other than Lovekit, him and his siblings had been the youngest - and by the time that he met Lovekit, he was already eating normally.
Robinpaw saw her brother and excitedly padded over towards him. "Hello slow poke! Nice of you to join us finally!" She grinned giving him a bump with her shoulder. She eyed the mouse that he had brought. "Nice catch!"
At the compliment, Sparrowpaw's chest puffed with pride. His mentor had just become deputy, and he couldn't be more excited about that bragging right. Still, he never really said anything about it. "I'm not that late, am I?" he asked, glancing around. There was still plenty of family members missing, he couldn't possibly be the last one to show up, could he?
CleaverFlurryofstarsuniqcrimlavellan @dot seeker Alright so just a heads up I have killed Dewshine. She dies while out on a hunting patrol via drowning while looking at her own reflection. We can add that in here a few ways if we’d like. One being that she leaves from here to the patrol and then someone from that thread (who I would tag into here for that role) would come in announcing her death. A second being a simple time skip go after her death. And the third being that I can edit my original post and have it to where she is kit here at all and already out on patrol and then someone comes to announce her death. The time skip would probably be easiest but the other two ways may lead to some drama so what do you guys think?
Seablossom was trying in vain to hide her laughter and so as to not make the you get kits feel embarrassed. “Soon. Do not worry, they’ll be your playmates before long Lovekit.” Her gaze moved to the siblings, a softness to her face at their eagerness to welcome the newest kits. “It will be a while yet before they have mouse but I’m sure they’d live it if you bring them their first one, Sparrowpaw.” As the matriarch of their family, she does her bets them keep them all together and connected. A tail touch here, a muzzle there, tears together and apart. Whatever her family needs, Seablossom has vowed to give. If only she could give them back their parents and siblings, the family they’ve lost. Oh, how she desires for it as well. Cherishing what she has and keeping them close is all she can manage though and it will have to be enough. “No one is late, don’t tease him to badly now Robinpaw.” Seafoam eyes swept over the area, pausing in each one and finding smiles in many of their faces. It warmed her heart to see such a sight and praye dir would continue for many, many moons to come.
Appleblush had finally arrived, her mate by her side, but her gaze was barely on her only child before engaging in conversation with Acorncharm. “Sister! How have you been?” Ever the wild child, it was no surprise that there were leaves in her fur, signs of an obvious outing with her dear mate. They may be older now, but as a newly submitted couple they were truly acting the role of newly weds. If only her lover’s duties would allow them to sneak off more often.
Berrybloom purred at the kit curled up against her, encouraging and happy to offer sanctuary in her role of older sibling. “I’ve got you. Don’t worry. I know they’re a little much but trust me, they’re pretty great
(tbh i like the idea of someone showing up to tell everyone. i guess it just depends on how fast you want it to happen)
Sparrowpaw deflated. So they were too young yet. Glancing around at the gathered family, his gaze fell onto Lovekit, and he brightened up again. Perhaps Lovekit hadn't eaten yet? Dropping the mouse, he pushed it towards the older kit, giving a smile. "I guess that means it's all yours, if you want it," he said.
Acorncharm was barely able to keep down her emotions as her gaze swept across Appleblush. While she had been suffering and raising kits that weren't even hers, Appleblush had neglected everything and seemed to have no cares in the world. Shaking off her thoughts, the grey tabby attempted a smile, though it came across as weak. That would have been no surprise to most others though, as they all would have noticed how she had barely left the den until recently. "Better," she answered, truthfully. This time, she made no secret of her gaze as she tilted her head at a leaf twisted into her sister's fur. "You've been doing well, I see."
