Littlestar waited until all the the clan's Janus, promised, and soothsayer had arrived to begin. She had called a meeting to discuss the latest happening in SunClan including all of the injuries and deaths that had occurred as a result of the traps "Lets go through this case by case. First Troublemaker... They were out patrolling near the boneyard when the ground collapsed and he fell into a pit of some strange material. It impaled his paws, and he later passed as a result of the injuries he sustained. Soaringlight you were there that day. I would like you to tell the others what you saw. Were you able to figure out who created the trap?" JadieJetclawuniqcrimashestoashesstardanceNovaHoneystormFlurryofstars
Skipstep's expression was grim, he sat beside Littlestar tail wrapped around his paws as he looked around at the other cats, turning his attention to Soaringlight. He was troubled by these traps, and how they kept happening without much warning.

Lilypool was saddened by the news of the passing. She didn't know the cat well herself but to have died like that was terrible. The janus has wished she has been there to help...but even she were there could she have done anything? No one would know. One thing was for certain: something had to ve done. Something needs to happen in order for this to never happen again.

This wasn’t the only incident… handsomeking, butterscotchdrip, mytthos, and then innocentlamment’s body… However this has been the only incident with one of the higher ranking members of the clan present when it occurred. All of the other scenes had been investigated thoughly, but there was no strange scents or traces of the cats that had done this. It was rather infuriating, each of the traps becoming more complex than the last. But the majority of them didn’t seem to be aiming to kill, rather injure. Things were just not adding up. There was also seemingly no pattern for the types of traps and locations. It was like trying to find a ghost, but she had her suspicions. Perhaps it was one fo their own….

She had never had to face death in the eye. Lacelily had yet to see a cat actually die in front of her, but she had seen the bodies of Troublemaker and Innocentlament. The apprentice-aged Janus had gotten chills throughout her whole body. Whatever-whoever-had done these meant business. They did not die easily, painlessly, or in battle. That much was clear. She looked to Soaringlight for them to talk about what they had seen that day.
Soaringlight didn't show it, but she actually felt a lot of guilt for Troublemaker's death. She'd been the one leading the patrol that day and one could rightly argue that her lack of foresight was the reason he got wounded. Furthermore, as one of the Clan's two healers, the fact that her first-aid had been useless, well, it took a jab at her pride, too. Of course, that was exactly what the entity wanted.
"Troublemaker's paws were impaled by a strange, clear material. It reminded me of crystals but I'd never seen one so transparent or flat. I can't imagine a cat being able to create something like nor could I imagine this material occurring naturally. All I can conclude is that it likely has origins in twolegplace, which doesn't really narrow anything down. There were no traces of who laid the trap. It could have been anyone."

Littlestar listened to her words carefully. She had examined the material when some of it had been brought back to her den. She had never seen anything like it either. It was sharp all the way around the edges, and flat. After being cleaned you could easily see through it like the river when it was at it's clearest. She had come to the same conclusion. That whomever had set the trap must have gathered it from the twolegs. "I came to a similar conclusion"
"Then there was Mythosseraphim to consider. He fell into a pit of boiling water. Once the water had cooled, we concluded that hot stones and been tossed into the water to heat it, and the sun and hot sands used to keep it boiling. This happened farther to the north, and again no scents or disturbances could be found around the area"
She paused to give the other Janus an opportunity to speak

Nightfury had not seen anything like these before. Traps like these themselves were rare, let alone ones that were designed to maim not kill. He didn't think any of his soothsaying or anything could help. He just shrugged and wrapped his tail around his paws. "Where? How many?"

All these cats dying in such terrible ways...it made Lilypool wonder who in the world could be doing these. This was done with intent perhaps even a message to the clan itself. "Whomever or whatever is doing this clearly has a message to Sunclan cats and it's not pretty. But how do we retaliate or deal with an issue when we don't know whom is doing it or even what are they? How are they setting up these traps and getting these items? No mere kittypet could do it. Sure perhaps a loner or rouge but wouldn't have there been a scent of another feline if that had been the case? Can we even say it's another clan? I haven't caught any foreigner scents myself..." She trailed that off leaving it open what she was thinking of before going on. "We can agree this thing is a threat and must be stopped. Too many of our own have fallen thanks to whatever is going on."
"I'm starting to think twolegs are behind this... these traps are beyond the capabilities of a typical cat and most elementals. Not to mention DayClan, our neighbors, were just recently decimated by a patrol of twolegs walking straight into the heart of their camp," It was a good idea, but it had a glaring flaw that Soarlinglight couldn't ignore, "But... Twolegs are sloppy. They always leave traces of their presence even if they are just passing through, yet no one has been able to so much as pick up their scent. Things just are not adding up...
"We should talk to my brother at this point. If he doesn't have answers he certainly has the means to get them. We just have to light a fire under his tail."

Paintedcanyon had remained quiet for the most part. The long-furred tom had been listening intently to what the others had to say about the situation, but something wasn't sitting right with him...
"Why would two-legs set a trap for us all the way out here?" He questioned. "Our lands have nothing to offer... we live in a desert really. Our clan has adapted to survive the heat and the lands... and if it was two-legs, wouldn't the other forest clans be affected by this as well? From what I can gather, whomever this is, they're only targeting Sunclan cats."

Littlestar listened as the cats discussed, before looking up directly at Bravewolf
"I have my own theory as to what is happening, but Bravewolf... what is your opinion?" In her mind there was little doubt, this was connected to the thing that had attacked both her and Bravewolf. The brutality of the attacks, the cunning way in which they were carried out. However, there was always the possibility that she was allowing her own fear to cloud her judgment on the matter. That... things... attacks up to this point had been very targeted and direct, while this was not. It seemed aimed to create fear amongst the clan. It still had the same clean efficiency, but things were not quite adding up. Honeystorm
Nightfury stood silently in the back of group, carefully listening to each word that was said. While he had grown up in Toxicity, these cats' brutality scared him. His birth clan had never imagined of such vile things as those traps. It was death that one had no one could see coming.

Lilypool continued to think hard on this matter, but just wasn't coming up with any helpful or useful solutions for this issues. Best thing she was coming up with was to at the very least keep an extra close eye on the kits and apprentices. Although it didn't happen often she flinched at the though of a kit getting out and ending up in a terrible trap like any of the ones they had been finding. As for the apprentices... "Perhaps we should keep apprentices close to or in camp until we get things resolved? I dislike the idea of anyone being put in danger but especially the young ones who are still training. Maybe we can have some of them keep an eye on the kits like a rotation system to make sure none of them get out?"
Soaringlight turned her eyes to Lilypool and nodded.
"Having a buddy system is a good idea. That being said, apprentices should be able to do their normal duties without having a Warrior's eye on them at all times, it's annoying. We should just say no cat - apprentice, Warrior, Janus, no cat - can leave camp without another cat with them. The pairing can be apprentice-apprentice so long as they look after one another."
Littlestar dipped her head "Very well, so long as they go in pairs. Ideally they would go out with another warrior but if they are allowed to choose someone they will be less likely to try and sneak out on their own" after all even if it was another young cat, at least they would have someone with them to go and get help should they fall into a trap" the High Priestess took in a deep breath before giving out her orders
"Skipstep, Sorrowfularia, Nightfury, and Soaringlight I would like for you to each take one of our borders and thoroughly check it over for more traps. Be cautious, and report back your findings before we have our evening prayers. After the sun begins to fall the traps will be even more difficult to detect. The evening patrols will be given orders to be cautious and to return back to camp before moon high"
This was a good task for Soaringlight. Given her Regime roots, she'd always had a special eye for the earth, not to mention her element allowed her to send living, breathing creatures ahead to scout things out without any risk to herself. She'd mastered the language of most rodents by now but specialized in the smaller ones like mice and voles, both great tools is used wisely.
"I'll take the DayClan border," She said firmly, looking each cat in the eye as if to challenge her. She didn't pick it because it was the easiest but because it was the one she knew best, both above and below ground.
Nightfury rolled is shoulders back and stretched. Not a bad idea... and like Soaringlight he had his own roots to investigate. "Northern border." He spent a fair amount of time past the SunClan border up there in his self-imposed exile. He never saw anything of note there before, but perhaps with a new light he could find something worthwhile in the desolation.
