Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Q: Who is responsible for catching prey? A: The leader, deputy, warriors, and warrior apprentices. If you have a garden keeper / gk apprentice who knows how to hunt, they can, but it's not required!
Q: How do I catch prey? A: Catching prey must be done in roleplay, but it can be done in multiple settings! Just roleplaying hunting alone can be pretty boring, so try to incorporate in dialogue or conflict! Hunting roleplays do not need to be long- you can scent, stalk, and catch a piece of prey all within a single post.
Hunting patrol threads are the easiest way to complete this. If you aren't assigned to a patrol thread, feel free to start your own with other willing roleplayers! Cats in these threads can catch more than cats in other threads. Patrols need at least 2 members, and cap out at 5 members.
Individual cats or groups not specifically out on hunting patrol can scent and catch smaller amounts of prey in regular roleplays! If your cat is out for a walk, or sitting by the river, or anywhere outside of camp you can throw in a hunting post.
Q: How do I report prey I caught? A: You can tag either woof or sunlight in the thread where the prey was caught, send a PM to either with a link to the thread with a description of which cat caught what kind of prey, or reply to this post with a link to the thread! We will add it to the list.
Q: When does prey expire? A: Prey expires on the last day of the month two months following when you caught the prey. For example, prey caught any time in January expires March 31st.
Q: What happens if the prey level gets low? A: If the prey level gets low, new cats cannot join the clan and new kits cannot be born until levels return to medium. Low prey levels mean the clan cannot support its current number of cats, so adding additional cats to the clan would increase the strain.
If prey levels reach critical, sickness will begin to creep into the clan, causing cats to lose health. Low and critical levels of prey mean clan morale is low, and strength in battle is lost.
Q: Does hunting change with the seasons? A: Yes! Hunting is more difficult in the winter, when prey is scarce. It's easier in the summer, and average difficulty in fall and spring.
In Fall and Spring, cats in non-patrol threads can each catch up to 2 pieces of prey. Cats in patrol threads can each catch up to 3 pieces.
In Summer, cats in non-patrol threads can each catch up to 3 pieces of prey. Cats in patrol threads can each catch up to 4 pieces.
In Winter, cats in non-patrol threads can each catch up to 1 piece of prey. Cats in patrol threads can each catch up to 2 pieces.
In winter, expect cats to fail at catching prey more often. You don't have to roleplay out each failure, mentioning it in passing is enough!
Q: Can I catch uncommon or rare prey? A: Of course! Just don't go overboard with it- they're uncommon or rare for a reason c;
