( RR is dealing with, an, ah... explosive day. Heh. This is a great opportunity to kill or maim any of your chars, if you'd like. c; )
The morning started out like any other. Commander Shule sent out a decently sized patrol as part of it to explore a section of the DayClan underground they'd recently cleared. It had some twoleg items, but she figured they'd be careful enough, though perhaps including Eastpaw had been a mistake. She'd made sure to include a few different ranks, just in case they ran into any trouble.
Even then, in retrospect, she couldn't have anticipated everything that actually happened. The mostly black feline was just grabbing a piece of prey from the fresh kill pile for a quick meal when....
BOOM
The ground seemed to shake beneath her paws as what she could only describe as an explosion rocked the tunnels, and she sat down hard, unable to keep her footing, a distant rumbling coming from the direction of the very patrol she'd sent out earlier that day.
For a long moment, Shule simply sat in stunned silence, attempting to process what had happened. A stalactite crashed down a mere foxlength from her not a moment after she rose to her paws, spearing the ground and whatever wayward cat was in the rock's way. "EVERYONE OUT OF THE TUNNELS, NOW!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, for once grateful that the Regime didn't have many tykes at this moment.

Southpaw had been sleeping when the loud rumbling and shaking reached her nest. Her eyes snapped open, leaping to her paws as little crumbles of dirt fell from the ceiling. It was like the collapse all over again!!! She let out a little scream, pushing past the entrance and breaking the silence "THE GROUND IS FALLING! THE GROUND IS FALLING" her voice echoing all around, only to find cats already scattering for the exits
She stared wide eyed, her paws glued to the ground in fright. Cats whizzed past where she was standing, and it wasn't until a big clump of dirt fell onto her back with a dull thud that they started working again "Not again, not again. I'm going to get all dirty!!!" she complained, trying to follow after the bigger and faster cats. She wasn't as quick as them, her sore shoulder making her progress much slower. She didn't yet realize just how dangerous this whole situation was. After all, last time the tunnel had fallen down it hadn't really changed much. Just a few days to repair it. She assumed that these cats just didn't want to get dirty either. uniqcrimHoneystorm
Bliss had just settled down for a nap after hunting for most of the day when the explosion startled her wide awake on all four paws. Ears ringing, she was totally disoriented at first. She could heard Shule yowling but couldn't make out what she was saying. The small blue-black she-cat had only one concern at the moment and that was, "MIRACLE! WHERE ARE YOU?" Honeystorm

Scout Superior Havilah hadn't been far from Commander Shule when the explosion happened. The moment she gave the command he went into action and began herding cats toward the exits he deemed most safe, "Move, move, MOVE!" @anyone

Sapphira was nowhere to be seen, presumably she had been part of the patrol, but you will never find a body which means she may not be dead.

Luckily for Bliss, Miracle was around. She too, immediately ran for her mate, following the sound of her voice and giving her a look over once she spotted the she-cat. "I'm here, come on, we need to go!" Jadie
Lex ran at Southpaw's side for the moment, trying to ensure the young apprentice made it out. At the same time, he was looking around, hoping to see Dusky, Rottenfang, hopefully everyone really, escaping. racer
As time ran on, smoke starting curling into the tunnels. Thick dark smoke, the kind that burned your lungs but it had nothing to do with the heat of the smoke. It only furthered the sense of urgency. If they didn't escape, almost certainly they'd suffocate down here.

Southpaw looked up at Lex, big blue eyes blinking as the smoke began catch up to them. She coughed, her paws slowing to a stop. "Where is Prince Ilius?" she looked back over her shoulder, then up ahead trying to find him "and momma, and poppa?" the smoke was becoming thicker now "Go on ahead, I need to make sure they are not in their den" her head snapping from one side to other, before trying to fight the crowd that was scrambling to get out and head to where her parents slept. She had lost her momma once, she wasn't about to loose her again! She was blind, she wouldn't be able to get out on her own Honeystormuniqcrim

"They'll be fine! You can't go back now." Lex didn't hesitate to grab her by the scruff as she turned around, downright dragging her along with the rest of the Regime cats to escape the tunnels. With her fur in his mouth, his next words were jumbled, but the sentiment was likely clear. "You're going to get yourself killed if you stop now." racer

"Put me down" Southpaw struggled in his grip, but there wasn't a whole lot she could do to fight against the much stronger cat, and her protests were cut off by her coughing loudly. Instead she decided to call out loudly "MOMMA, POPPA, BROTHER, PRINCE?!?!?!?!!" she repeated the names over and over again as she was carried, hoping against all odds that one of them would answer her

Gossamer Alessandra had half a mind to move out of this dump. Maybe if she did, the sentinel wouldn't have to deal with the fact that there was dirt on the one part of her spine that she was never going to be able to get herself, no matter how flexible she was. Of course, this wasn't the sentinel's biggest problem. Her biggest problem, it seemed, was that the explosion had caused a rock to fall and land squarely on her front paw and forearm; she was pinned to the earth with a bone now probably easily shattered. It seemed she was dealing with this shock by being overly concerned about how dirty she was going to get; that was easier than thinking about the fact that she might very well be left as a casualty of war if she couldn't get the rock off of her and the tunnel fully collapsed. She let out a humorless laugh; what an ironic end. She didn't waste time pondering the irony, though, instead yoweling a loud, "Over here!"
Bliss's ears flicked back and immediately she felt embarrassed for yowling the way she had for Miracle. It was very childish, they were both adults and could fend for themselves, but it had escaped her before she had the chance to think things through... and now here she was, overthinking things that didn't really matter when when she really should be escaping.
She didn't say anything in response to Miracle, but did press herself up against her mate's side before racing toward the nearest exit. Honeystorm

"Don't move."
Havilah's voice was very soft yet shockingly loud, strange, it probably had to do something with the adrenaline that was sure to be pumping through the trapped Gossamer Alessandra's veins. The air around the auburn-furred tom seemed to teem with energy and, every so often, a stray spark would fly from his pelt and disappear into nothingness so quickly that one would question if it had ever happened at all.
He put both paws on the massive bolder that was pinning the former Commander and, even though he wasn't pushing it - there was no way a single cat could manage that - the boulder started to shift slightly upwards. Gossamer was still pinned but the pressure was greatly lessoned and getting lighter as the air around Havilah got more and more electrified.
And then ---
"NOW! Pull yourself out!"
Havilah's voice was as loud as thunder. His element had limits and he was more than pushing them, but he didn't give himself any time to overthink things, this was life and death and he intended to get as many cats out alive as he could. @ian

Following the smoke... soon came the trickling of water on the ground. At first, it wasn't noticeable, coming from the direction of the explosion. But then water began to pour through, heading for the lower sections of the tunnels and HQ as cats fled, creating dangerous currents if a cat stepped in the path of the flood. Unlike the tunnels back in their old territory, this one wasn't nearly as equipped to handle excess water, leaving it to run freely and endanger those in the area.
Lex didn't think where he was going, just that he was set on getting Southpaw out, and whoever was following them. What he hadn't expected, however, was the sight of Eastpaw ahead, and he slowly slightly. The apprentice was horrifically injured, and soaked to the bone, making it hard to tell the blood from the mud. Even still, you couldn't fake the fact that the young tom was missing an entire foreleg, and half his face... "This way...." His words were dazed and gargled, strange in his own mouth as he teetered towards his littermate and grandfather. "..before the worst comes." The tunnel he pointed to tilted vaguely upwards, dust trickling down from the ceiling. Water was already pouring around his paws back the way Southpaw and Lex had come. A little was trickling from the tunnel he was directing them to as well, but it certainly seemed more stable, albeit a bit muddy. racer
A giggle sounded beside Havilah. "Go! Go! Go! You can do it!" He would recognize the voice immediately, and to be honest, the Superior was likely to forget about Gossamer almost immediately once he heard it. After all, how could he ignore sweet little Emiko. "You're sweeter than you admit, Havi. Helping out your groupmates. You're the best son." Ever since their last encounter, Emiko hadn't been permitted to see him, and she'd been locked up in the prison. Shule hadn't even told Havilah she'd awoken. But she seemed okay now. Well, mostly. There was an electric look to her face, as if the volts he'd hit her with had done something to the quite small prisoner's brain. Perhaps it had shut down any sense of fear she had. @ian Jadie

Gossamer Alessandra froze at the words. Normally, she was quite defiant, so it wouldn't be out of the question for her to yank her body around just because he told her not to. For once, though, the soft goofiness and penchant for annoying others was gone, replaced by the reality that if she didn't listen to him, there was a good chance she would die. Goss was unpredictable, unmanagable, out of control, slightly masochistic, a cat with a hellacious god complex, but she was not stupid. There was a time for her fun, and this was not it. The sentinel swallowed hard, watching him move the rock slowly.
She couldn't process the slight stunned feeling she got from the lift - this was the first time she'd ever interacted with someone who wasn't a normal cat. Instead, she had to focus, pay attention...
Now !
The command rang clear in her ears, and at the sound of his word, the ivory pelted feline yanked her paw back. For a moment as she staggered back, there was relief. The moment, though, was brief, lasting only a milisecond before she remembered that even though the boulder was no longer on her paw, it probably had shattered it. She let out a snarl, before taking a breath. She wouldn't be able to walk on it, but she'd have to get out of this damn tunnel. "Thanks," she called to him through gritted teeth, trying to gain her balance on three feet. Jadie

Southpaw screamed, struggling in Lex's jaws until he let go as she raced to Eastpaw's side, wanting to pull him close while being horified by the mess all at once "Eastpaw" she whined pitifully, grimacing at the mud as it squished between her toes "What happened?" she looked at that tunnel that he was directing them to and then back to the other one that seemed far more dry and safe to her untrained eyes "Come on, lets go this way. There is not water there, we can get out' Honeystorm
"No, this way!!" Eastpaw was insistent despite the garbled words, pure fear and desperation in his eye as he tried to headbutt Southpaw towards the less nice looking tunnel he was demanding they go in. His face left a bloodied streak across Southpaw's fur, dirtying it, but Eastpaw didn't even seem to notice.
Lex was in utter shock, and wanted to throw up from the horror that was Eastpaw's state. But he couldn't break down, not now. He couldn't hide his wide eyes, however, as he stared at Southpaw. "Let's listen to him." His voice was gentler than Eastpaw's, but there was an almost frantic pitch to it he couldn't hide. He knew a bit of how particular she was about her fur, and suspected he'd have to grab her and run again at this rate. racer

Southpaw froze as the blood smeared across her pelt, her stomach twisting in knots at the graphic scene. It was like a deer in the headlights, limbs locked and unmoving even at the gently nudging of her brother. After a few moments she swallowed hard looking between him and the muddy tunnels. She trusted Eastpaw, but the whole situation was overwhelming "Ok..." finally getting her paws moving toward the muddy tunnel with reluctance.
She cringed as the mud rushed over her paws as she stepped up into the tunnel, the feeling of the mud nearly sending her into a full blown panic attack but she kept moving forward
Post by Honeystorm on Oct 15, 2021 18:40:06 GMT -5
She wasn't moving fast enough. Not nearly. Lex was a good few paces ahead of Southpaw, encouraging her to follow, but it wouldn't be enough. Eastpaw could feel the trembling of the ground, and then another explosion rocked the earth, this was was smaller, but nearer. "GO!!" The tunnel Southpaw had wanted to go through collapsed first, and the half-dead tom lunged forward half a second later, knocking Southpaw deeper into the tunnel he'd indicated just as everything above them collapsed, burying Eastpaw in the rubble, save for a single dusty paw sticking out. It clawed at the rubble for a second or two, before slowly releasing, never to move again. Southpaw and Lex were clear, but just barely, and the ground was still shaking from the impact. Yet the rest of the tunnel appeared stable besides some light dust spiraling down onto the pair.
[ omg I thought I replied to this ages ago, I guess it never posted dang it xD ]
Gossamer Alessandra was lucky that she had moved her paw so quickly - as soon as Havilah recognized the buzzing in his ear was the voice of his murderous adoptive mother, the border slammed down on ground well before he had intended it to do so. Growling, the elemental's sparks intensified dramatically, a very bad idea given even the slightest spark could trigger another explosion for all he knew.
"I'd hoped the explosion had taken care of you," He snarled, taking a step toward Emiko. He unsheathed his claws and lifted one, as if to strike her, before he realized how dire a situation they were all in and that letting his instincts take control could very well end up in the death of all three of them. He'd have to get his revenge later and he hated it. He gave Emiko and absolute death glare then turned his forest green eyes back to Gossamer.
"Can you walk?" He asked bluntly, looking down at the she-cat's shattered paw. Honeystorm @ian

Emiko danced around Gossamer with an endearing laugh. "That's my big strong Havi! I knew you could do it." She purred, though her words likely only grated on his every nerve. "Now come with me if you wanna live. All these tunnels are collapsing, if you're going to be helping our groupmate escape, we have to move quickly. Unless you'd rather her dead, hmm? That can be arranged too, you know. Whatever you'd like, son." Not that she minded threatening the life of the Sentinel. She was nothing to the currently escaped Prisoner. Jadie
"No," Havilah said in response to Emiko, his voice stern and no-nonsense. He didn't even entertain his adoptive mother for a second long as he looked back to Gossamer, awaiting the former Commander's report on her physical status.
"Well that won't do. We can't just have you dying like your siblings my sweet boy~" Emiko grinned at Gossamer. "Can you just tell him to listen to his mother for once? He's always been quite stubborn." Excuse the fact that the entire tree was messed up. By blood, he was Havilah's cousin, by how she was raised, by Shule and Sean, she was his aunt, and by the fact she raised HIM, his mother. What a mouthful to try and explain, wasn't it? "You commit a few murders and they get all queasy or something!"

"Hey" Southpaw complained as she was shoved forward, only to be knocked off of her feet at the force of the next blast. A wave of mud splattering up over her white fur "EASTPAW, look what......" she was cut short as she turned to be greeted by a wall of rubble, her brothers paw barely sticking out from underneath still wiggling around trying to escape. The scream to follow could only be described as pure terror, the kind of scream the pierced into your very soul.
The white apprentice rushed to his side scrambling against the wall of rubble to free her brother "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no" her words become faster and more frantic with every moment that passed. Her own claws beginning to bleed from the digging in her futile attempt to dislodge the debris. Then it stopped... He stopped moving, he stopped fighting. The paw falling limp as Southpaw collapsed beside of him. She fell to the ground, dirt from the ceiling raining down upon her as cradled the lifeless paw against her cheek Honeystorm
