Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Vixenpaw hummed loudly to herself as she cleaned out the den she was instructed to clean, though her black-and-pink nose was wrinkled as she did so. If there was one thing she hated, it was the musty smell of old, used moss. She perked up her ears as another cat entered the den. Was someone sent to help her?
"H...h..heelllo?" stammered Bravekit nervously as her called into the apprentice den. The young orange tom gazed into the den, sunlight dancing across his fur.
He wasn't exactly the most social of toms, an he was racked by many different fears. One of them being, the darkness of the apprentice den. Something about it unnerved him, but soon he would be an apprentice. He felt like he needed to face this fear now, otherwise how would he make it through his training?
The tortoiseshell turned her ivy-green gaze to the kitten. "Hello?" she echoed in response, the corners of her mouth quirking up into a half-grin. "Who goes there?"
Bravekit jumped backwards, his fur bristling in all directions as the unexpected voice reached his ear, a loud pitched squeak torn from his lips. He scuttled backwards, hiding himself behind a rock. After a few moments he fearfully peaked out from behind the rock, peering into the darkness of the apprentice den for the source of the voice.
Sure the voice could be a member of his clan, but what if an enemy warrior and managed to sneak in and was keeping all the apprentice hostage? It was a irrational fear, but the scared little tom couldn't help it.
To the mischievous young apprentice, this was a fun opportunity to play around. "Whoever you are, unless you come in peace, prepare to meet the wrath of Vixenpaw!"
He shrunk back behind the rock once more, his little ears being pinned back against his skull. He had been seen.
His mind raced, his little sides heaving. Bravekit took in a deep breathe, pushing himself to step out into the open, even though he was trembling. He put his foot down firmly, feeling small compared to the large entrance to the den
Vixenpaw finally revealed herself. The young tortoiseshell stepped out from the shadows in which she'd been dwelling, and a friendly smile replaced the menacing smirk she'd had before. Her green eyes twinkled playfully and she said, "Hi, Bravekit! What are you doing in the apprentices' den?"
"I..uhm...I'm not in the apprentice den" he managed to get out, after realizing that it was only an apprentice that had been teasing him. What he said was true, he wasn't in the apprentice den, not yet any way.
He took a cautious step out from the rock, half expecting the apprentice to yell at him for being near the den intended for older cats. He forced his fur to lay flat, even though he still trembled with nervousness.
"Oh, right. You're just thiiiiis close to the apprentices' den. And you expect me to believe you weren't about to go in it," she teased. Vixenpaw's grin softened to a gentle smile. "What are you doing, though?"
"No... well I... erm" he wasn't sure what to say. He didn't want to lie, but he didn't really want to tell the truth either. After all what other cat would be afraid of a den?
"I wanted to go in, but I changed my mind" he finally managed to get out, turning away from the den and unable to meet the she-cats eyes.
The little orange tom shook his head violently, while take a step backwards. "No...No... I don't think that is such a good idea"
The stories his siblings had told him about the apprentices den ran through his mind. Like the one about the kit who tried to sneak in being trapped by the older cats and tossed around like a moss ball.
"Your just trying to trick me" he declared backing up another step.
