Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The leader's tail flicked nervously. In all honesty, she had no idea how this was going to turn out. Tensions in the family were high, perhaps higher than they'd ever been, especially as the newest kittens were added to it. It wouldn't take long for it to fracture, although Aspenstar refused to believe her familial relations were so tenuous. Anything that was broken could be fixed, and they weren't broken, right? That was why she had organized this little outing. All they needed was a little family bonding, right?
Littlepaw looked at the set up with complete ambivalence. Perhaps it was unfounded; there was legitimate evidence that the leader was at least trying with whatever vein attempt at a bonding session this was. There was fresh kill, they had traveled to one of the only parts of the territory that had been untouched by the storm. It would be nice, if Littlepaw didn't know what they knew. Unfortunately, they were even more acutely aware of the tensions that Aspenstar worried about; they were a critical role in it, although the leader had yet to learn the plans that the apprentice was a critical part of setting in motion. Perhaps Littlepaw felt guilty because of this. More likely, though, they felt the same ambivalence that they felt towards everything else, a numb nothingness, a complete devoid. "I don't understand why we have to do this," they muttered under their breath.
"Oh, come on! Don't be like that!" meowed Foxpaw, who was slightly behind as he had been Larkspur's assistant at the back of the group. The duo had been tasked with keeping the kittens from wandering off, and it had been quite a task. "Tonight's gonna be great, right?"

Poppykit had few strong feelings either direction. They weren't entirely sure why this was necessary, but then again fate had chosen to bind all these cats into one family and place. Maybe this was an important moment. They took it into stride and continued nibbling at a mouse bone from breakfast. They didn't know what else to do and looked up at Aspenstar questioningly. "How many cats are coming?"
Aspenstar let out a defeated sigh at Littlepaw, before her gaze slid to Poppykit. She half-smiled. "There should for sure be Larkspur and I, the four of you, Foxpaw, and the three or four of your step siblings," she meowed. "I've left the invitation open to anyone in the family, though, so there could be a few last minute additions."

Bounding forward after his sibling, Asterkit approached the gathering family with wide eyes. Full of curiosity and an overwhelming lack of concern or fear, he paused at Poppykit's side. ❝You're big!❞ He chirped towards Aspenstar, his voice sharp and underdeveloped. ❝Poppy are you excited to meet all the cats!❞ Staring towards his sibling with big eyes, he let out a small purr of contentment.

The little kit giggled at their brothers excitement and nodded, "Of course. Fate has brought us all together on this day and it is so exciting to meet everyone! Hopefully they're nice," the kit frowned at the sudden realization that maybe they were mean. There was such a thing as ill fate after all.
Larkspur nosed Foxpaw gently, smiling at the gathering of all the cats before them. It warmed her heart to be apart of this, though she supposed it made sense. She was taking part in raising four of the youngsters. She gazes fondly at Aspenstar for a moment, and then at the kits before her. Larkspur had always wanted to raise kits, and now she was given the chance.
Larkspur gives a quick lick to Poppykit's head, noticing the sudden seriousness in the little one's eyes. "What's wrong, Poppykit?" she asks gently.

She purred at the affection and looked up, "Momma, what if they're mean or don't like us? What do we do? Should we be mean back? I'm not good at that." She was more interested in getting along and pondering the fate of the universe. Dealing with a bully seemed like an awfully large task.
"Don't worry, kid! You're family! We love you already!" He closed the distance between the too of them, ruffling her head fur with his tail. Was Foxpaw who she was talking to? Absolutely not. Did Foxpaw ever seem to care who was and was not talking to him? Also absolutely not. "But," he meowed, leaning in to whisper in her ear while making contact with the deputy, "if someone gives you any trouble, you lemme know, and I'll beat um up for you." uniqcrim

She smiled up at the cat, "Only if you teach me how! So then I can beat them up myself!" She wasn't a violent cat but it just seemed the right action to take. Self defense was important too and she'd be a warrior one day anyways.
