Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
There were no heroes, not anymore. At one point, she might have considered each member of her clan to be a hero. Sure, they all had some problems, but they were genuinely good cats, right? The last few months had changed Aspen's beliefs on what it meant to be good, though. She no longer believed that she was at the control of a band of heroes, all ready to make the world a better place. This wasn't to say that Aspenstar saw her classmates as villains - no, instead, she was just more jaded than she had been before, more accepting of the reality that time had changed them all...
Stormreign had never been much of a hero. He charmed his way in, played his games, and left devastation in his wake; other cats cleaned up his messed and he did not seem to mind. They were the heroes, and he was giving them a chance to shine, so really, they should be grateful to him. That was before NightClan, though. This clan was perplexing. When Flamingstar left, he should have gone with her. Instead, he lingered, delayed the ravage of the storm, and maybe doing nothing was the most heroic thing he'd done in his life. (He sure hoped not; how lame was that?)
The blue tom shuffled into camp as the moon peaked overhead, his usual energy absent as he suppressed a yawn. Staying up during the day and working at night wasn't easy, and with his patrol finished, he was tempted to curl up in his nest for the rest of the night. As he headed for his den he spotted Aspenstar in the corner of his eye, and Stormreign paused, summoning the last bits of his energy to pitch a friendly smile her way.
The leader's head turned slightly in his direction, her mismatched eyes locking on his form. He had been one of the remnants of the past that still lingered here. Many of the felines who had existed under Flamingstar were gone now: dead, missing, simply avoiding the land that seemed cursed; their intentions didn't matter any way. Those who had stayed were cats who existed on her periphery; perhaps that was why it was with great surprise that she studied him.
"Good evening," she meowed with a nod of her head, rolling her shoulders slightly. "Did you need something? Or did you just want the joy of being in my company?" Her lips twitched ever so slightly, not quite a smile, but something. For a cat like Aspenstar, sometimes the hint of a smile had to be good enough.
